How To Crochet a Rose - Yarn Scrap Friday

  • Today we return to my normal schedule of Yarn Scrap crochet patterns, and today I show you how to crochet a rose.

    You will need;
    - DK/Light worsted weight yarn in a rose colour such as red or pink, and green
    - 3.5mm E/4 crochet hook
    - Yarn needle and scissors
    - Florist tape and florist wire in green

    An advice-
    - for those of you who don’t have this kind of tape, you can simply yarn your yarn around the wire
    - instead of sewing the rose petals and sepals, you can use hot glue or fabric glue.

    Ive completed the 1st an 2nd stage of the rose. I used eyelash glue, instead of sewing parts together!!

    Try covering the wire in the leaf stem BEFORE winding them together. Then join the three leaves and continue down to end. Or cover each leaf stem separately and add to main stem at different places.

    I would absolutely buy an audio book of you reading out your patterns, I struggle to read and crochet at the same time. But listening to the videos on my headphones while working really helps 😀

    thank you for this tutorial. I found it on fb. It has come in handy and I hope to make a bouquet by Mother's Day as yesterday I was told my mother has cancer. She is in a nursing home with Alzheimers. Thank you again.

    Thank you for this video. I'll be making 12 roses for my daughter. Her wedding is on Sunday. It's so hot and humid here in Ohio, USA my yarn isn't as easy to work with. 100 degrees. Send some cool air here.

      @@HappyBerryCrochet The weather was wonderful, quite sunny. It was a peacock farm. Outdoor was so special. Swans on the lake behind the Wedding service. Wildflowers, peacock, donkeys, and a special pig, Beautiful farm. She will be living in London now. Dating her husband now for 8 years overseas. True Love .

Malheureusement je n'ai fait que des trucs faciles ( la tortues, la poupée, le cœur en dentelle et la baleine) mais comme je comprends pas beaucoup l'anglais, je trouve que c'est déjà bien :).     Zik ga deze roos proberen te haken. Je hebt een fijne stem om naar te luisteren. Ik kan niet zo goed engels maar als jij in dit filmpje het rustig uitlegt en goed laat zien wat je doet moet het me lukken. Je praat langzaam en dat vind ik prettig.

    I just LOVE Roses, Pink ones especially. This turned out soooo ADORABLE. A little to big for what I had in mind, BUT I will use it in my room. JUST gorgeous. Is there a way to "sent" these ? Keep up the awesome work.

    Lovely yarn , nice finish . which brand is it? It looks like one I have called sublime (I think that's what it was called ), I like the way this one doesn't fray or split for a small project its great . cotton is good but I am still learning and I prefer the elasticity of wool and acrylic yarns

    Ik moet wel even de steken leren in het engels want die worden in het nederlands anders genoemd. Ik vind een double crochet heel verwarrend want dat heet in het nederlands een stokje. Bij 2 keer de draad omslaan heb je een dubbel stokje. Maar we gaan het gewoon proberen.

    why did my petals come out so big they are huge compared to the video? I used a 3.5 hook and my stitches were tight. Worsted 4 yarn.

    Love this tutorial, but I'm afraid that if I give these as gifts and they are handled too much, that the tape will get undone. It's not very sticky.

      It should be pretty sticky if wrapped the right way, sometimes its hard to see. You can always use a little glue if it helps.
