- Musio is a powerful tool for all music creators, but the journey to get it out into the world hasn't always been an easy one. Starts, stops, lackluster launches, and risky decisions have dotted the road to Musio being the plugin that it is now. So in this video, Cinesamples/Musio CEO Mike Patti sits down to talk about the 8 year journey of taking Musio from being a simple idea to releasing it to the world, and all of the successes and challenges we've encountered along the way.

Damn Mike, that was right in the feels... I am one of the first Musio perpetual license holders. I was in Barcelona on vacation with my family when I saw the announcement. I went back to the hotel as fast as I could to purchase the license. I did it not because I thought Musio was the best thing ever, but because I believed then and still do now, that it will be amazing, both the software and the content.
I am and will always be critical of Musio because of my expectations and I believe this vision of yours will continue to improve and grow. Musio is great and it will be even greater. I have the same trust and confidence I had that day, on vacation with my family.

Mike, you and your team are doing awesome work. Been using Musio for over a year. I love being able to open up the Musio catalog and experiment with and use new instruments so effortlessly. Well done. As a long-time engineering entrepreneur myself I understand the challenges you face. Yes your kids are learning valuable lessons from you. My only request: I wish there was a dedicated Discord or similar group for those of us who would like to share our Musio works with other Musio enthusiasts. Thanks for Musio 👍

In terms of a Discord, that's actually something we've talked about a number of times and have plans to do. We would love to have a place where the Musio community can engage with one another and share their creations. We're a fairly small team right now and focused on a few high level developments to improve the plugin, but rest assured, a Discord Community is definitely on our list to create sooner than later. As soon as it's up and running we'll let you know 😁
I tried creating a Discord for Musio, but only a couple folks have joined. I'd als be perfectly happy to get rid of it if Musio created their own.
@@rbingraham Since Musio has a list of all the Musio customers they are in the best position to get the word out about something like this. Perhaps they could promote yours and get more folks to jump on?
Mike, I think you don't know how much this means to me.
I am a young computer scientiest and music nerd and I've always been inspired by the products you guys put out. And the whole story you tell together with your company just fills me with joy and gives me a drive: "They made their dream come true, I can do it too." And not achieving it by any means, by doing evil corporate shenangians but by being transparent and honest. A company I know that values its customers. And now I can see why: The passion you and your team radiates is clearly visible and it is just so fun to see what you guys do. Thank you.

Thanks for opening up and being real Mike. I was just under the wire to get Musio Lifetime and haven't regretted it. I already ha well over 100 sound libraries (including a decent amount of Cinesamples) but find myself utilizing Musio a lot. I'm looking for ways to utilize everything! But now have a even better appreciation of how many challenges are involved in what you do. Your passion is commendable. And I totally understand. I'm creating a major fundraiser to feed the hungry and using music in a big way. Seeing my vision turn to reality is having a powerful effect on me too.

I'm really glad Musio came along. It has become the tool that turn to the most often as it is simple to use, sounds good and it just works. I hope I was one of those 100 people who actually gave you some feedback. Although I'll admit it probably took me a bit before I really started to use it much, but I know I've had it pretty much since it was first publicly released. It didn't hurt that it came along just as I was starting to acquire more Cinesamples libraries, so I hadn't already spent thousands on the CS catalog yet. Thanks for all the work of the team on this project, it's a great tool. All the best on its future, I can't wait to see where this goes.

I am excited to try out Musio. Listening to you and listening to reviews about Musio especially focussing on better UI and getting quality instruments, better interface shows this product is made by musicians for musicians. I think this will appeal to any music composer of any level especially those who do not want to deal with a high learning curve to start making music. The price is very competitive too in my opinion. I bough musio a few weeks ago and I gotta say this was the easiest sample instrument/s purchase I've made. The value is so worth the money. Big thank you to everyone who has worked on this and thank you for making it accesible to everyone. I keep telling everyone that I'm excited for the extra articulations and mic positions but even if that didn't come, it's still worth every penny.

I don't think I have ever heard of Musio before, mainly because I'm only working on the piano and nothing else. So it's interesting that UA-cam decided to recommend this video to me in the first place, but I'm glad it did. It was so interesting to see and hear about the process and adventure that lead you and your company to where you are now, and it is great to see it all being lead by humans with true passion for the art! You have definitely brought your product into my line of sight with this as well, so hopefully I'll remember about it if I ever decide to do more than just piano! The way that I create music that resonates with me, becuz everytime I create I take a change all the time and I feel that creates originality,,,,no one wants all of there tracks to sound the same, but that takes a Lil time to Learn sound production knowing what to do with that sound.

I think I was lucky enough to grab Musio when it first hit the market. GLAD I did. So, good on you Mike and a GREAT team of people behind this. I have thought of using it on the lifetime subscription. Retired on fixed income - just can't afford it. BUT it IS a great deal. Further, I'm old, so I just couldn't figure why I'd need a lifetime sub on it since mine is just about over. I mean, who ever knows right? But at 77 - just how many years DO I have left. THAT was a big consideration. So maybe I'll not be ABLE physically in a year or two or so - to do anything like this. So for now it's year to year sub and that's okay. THANKS for creating this. It's as good as any other subscription instrument library ever was that might have come before and better in so many ways. Again, good on you all for creating a great product.

I find myself grabbing Musio samples on projects almost exclusively now. Even their antecedents in the Cinesamples format, which I have depended on for a while now, are languishing. I have a pretty robust Mac Pro system, but I keep expecting to get a glitch as I load in sample after sample. It never happens, Mike. Thank you for making the pathway to the music easier.

a great HISTORY OF MUSIO video Mike, musio is an exellent vsti with exeptional professional sounds, as a music hobbyist i can surely appreciate all the work you guys and galls have put into it, and certainly when from time to time making my own (personal use) little instrument in kontakt i know how difficult it is to code and sample worthy sounds, so when i saw what you were doing with musio i had to jump on the bandwagon, so i am one of those first users of musio, and it gets better with every update

Really great video. I know what you mean about trying to show your kids something. I have four daughters and spent 27 years in corporate America before buying a home care franchise caring for seniors (something I knew nothing about when I started). I did that for 7 years before I finally was able to transition to my new full time career as a composer. I hope if nothing else they see they can do different things throughout their lives if they take chances and take action, even though they may fail along the way.
By the way I'm a Musio subscriber and enjoy using your instruments which are a great value!

It‘s a really good product👍. One thing you could build in, would be the possibility to change the tuning of the plugIn f.e. to 442Hz or 438H. What do you think about this idea?
I'm loving Musio--bought it Black Friday last November- thank you for the great deal! My only complaint is the slow attack time on some of the orchestral instruments. Most of the strings and brass are not allowing me to play fast lines with no latency. This is with buffer at 512 or smaller.
To compare--I load EastWest Opus, and load similar sounds--(to isolate the cause)--and the Opus instruments are giving me faster attacks for those parts that need it. I'm on the latest version AU 1.27--is this Musio version fully optimized for Mac Silicon M1? I'm running a Mac Studio Ultra M1 and MOTU Digital Performer 11. Keep us the good work, loving the ability to explore LOTS of great libraries!

Mike, for me, the way I see it, you are the Steve Jobs of the music sampling industry! Not to compare you to another person, but to the way he approached innovations. I’ve always been mesmerized by the original Kontakt based libraries, the way they sound, the variety of instruments, the UI. But they were always kind of out of reach for me. The day Musio came around, first as a beta, I got really excited. I wasn’t able to provide any feedback during the beta period as I found myself not worthy enough to truly put the software to the test. Then when the official announcement was emailed and advertised I immediately jumped into securing a lifetime license! It was almost too good to be truth to me. So much value into something that will change lives across the globe, by giving access to a tool that surpasses most expectations. I am so glad I am on board with you guys! I believe that very shortly Musio will be the best way to create orchestral music on a personal computer! Keep up the great work!
