I have seen in a few of your videos that you talk about native and invasive species of mice. Do you have a video expanding on this topic? How do I know which of these I am catching in a live trap and how to proceed? (I live in Toronto Canada, would this effect your answer?)
I love it how UA-cam was bugging you about showing mousetraps, so you flipped everything in the complete opposite direction and now everything turns into a "mouse paradise".
For those deer mice you release, I'd still like to see you do a mark-recapture kind of video. Mark them w/ some animal-safe marking paint/dye, then see if they return to the building you caught them in.
@One-Eyed Beanie considering his channel relies on having a population of mice to interact with his traps, it would probably be in his best interest for them to return to the home
There was an experiment done once to see if wild animals would use a freestanding wheel-the answer was yes, and everything from rats and mice to a snail used it.
Great job on figuring how to satisfy everyone on what you do with the Mouse Paradise, including those who censor you. Very smart! Well done sir and thanks for sharing.
@@ericpeters5524 yeah, I kinda agree. In a sense he works for UA-cam and if you told your boss "no, I want to do it this way" they might fire you, or in Shawn's case demonetize, shadow ban, strike/ban, or remove his videos.
Love the idea of the humane trap at the bottom. allows us to see the mice, and allows the bleeding hearts to sleep at night. Looks like the exercise wheel is a major hit as well! looked like they were holding running competitions all night!
I still use the classic old fashion mouse traps, should any mice actually end up inside the house. They're cheap, small, and disposable. They're humane, as they quickly dispatch the mouse. Of course, not UA-cam friendly, but I don't make mice videos.
Whoa. That one mouse was climbing on that wall like The Spider Man. Should put little weapons in there, make it a Mouse Thunderdome. *"5 go in, 1 comes out."*
That's like a ten-story climb for the mice to end up getting caught. But it's all worth it for the mice to spend time in the exclusive luxury spa and enjoy a free trip to the back forty. The raccoons, skunk and juvenile hawk may disagree, though.
I remember when this guy was rigging up rocks to smash mice to death and now he's giving them a mice paradise. Haha. UA-cam you made this guy a softie.
If you don't have a long drill bit, just saw an inch or two off of each end of the corn cob and then drill a hole on either end a couple of inches deep. Insert the shorter bits of wire into the holes with, perhaps a little wood glue if required, and it will work just as well.
these mice here have become so called "trap smart", I will certainly give this a try soon. Thank You for the wonderful, clear videos you produce Shawn Woods.
I've seen this aquarium in another video and I think this is a wonderful idea to both catch the mice make it an enjoyable video to watch and gets past all those UA-cam violations of violence and or death that they keep Banning the other videos for great idea keep it up
2:57 this may be my messed up way of thinking, but let’s say you made a trap like this and made it mostly wheels connected to a shaft to produce small amounts of electricity. It would definitely be ineffective, but seeing most of the wheels moving because of the rats would be very fascinating to see in my opinion
I didn’t think it was possible but this is an improvement on the metal rolling log! Since the corn itself is edible, its balance changes ever so slightly as the mice eat away at it, and it’s practically guaranteed that it’ll roll out from under them.

My neighbor did the same thing this summer to deal with Chipmunks that were buroughing under all the buildings. Instead of a cob of corn, he used a roller covered with peanut butter and sesame seeds in the shell.
I really like how this trap turned out. Normally cramped panicking mice would have turned on each other. But with this contraption you had the option to just let them loose unharmed after the test.

Release them.....in a snake nesting area. Or near an owl. Maybe near a colony of feral cats. Truth is we don’t know WHERE they are released. He might have a pet snake.
Shawn I love the new bucket setup that leads to "mouse paradise". Very smart setup and I bet that's even deep enough to catch a rat without it escaping.
Been making a trap like this for the cottage and cabin for over 40 years. The only difference is I just use a bucket and leave some water in it so the mice can't jump out and drown (use engine anti0freeze in the winter - just an inch will wet them so they can't jump out and they die pretty quick). Can't really live trap when you're not there for weeks at a time.
Your becoming a big softie as you mature in your UA-cam career. Letting the mice fall into paradise! Just kidding. All in good fun. I have enjoyed you videos for years now and so have my soon-to-be 5 year old twins. Keep making the videos and you have a faithful family of watchers in the Midwest.
Ok I have no issue with kill traps for pest control, but seeing the captured mice play in the tank was just so freaking delightfully wholesome … very cool, and I hope he does more like this 🐭🎡👍

Is that fresh corn? Maybe it would work with two or three pieces of cob that you drill through with a regular size bit and then load them all on the wire.
Just get a door spring, attached to bucket handles on side with a slightly larger piece of thin plastic or metal pipe over the door spring. Put peanut butter or anything in the center, it spins on spring and does same thing. Put a couple inches of water in bucket and whoolah. Easiest...
Looks like I could just set up a mouse wheel fair ground in the shed ,they were having so much fun I doubt the house would look so appealing ,in fact quite boring in comparison 😀
Cute Sean. You forgot to add a the little hut for the mice to hunker inside. Poor things are stuck out in the wide open Mouse Paradise with nowhere to hide.
Its funny how they love food so much that even when he is making them get out of the bucket, three of the six mice stop for a second to smell the corn cob, before making their getaway. 😄
0:15 It says, _"The trap works best during the new moon."_ That's interesting. Why would that be? Are mice more active when the night is darker? The exercise wheel gets a lot of use.
