      Thanks Steph! Getting clear footage like this is definitely a challenge and I still have a lot to improve on, but it’s slowly getting better. I think I need to invest in some better microscope lenses next 🤑 Can’t believe how much $$ I’ve invested in these guys 😂

      @@pico-cosmos I can't imagine how hard it is to focus on them lol. Honestly not sure what better footage would look like but I'm looking forward to it! Lol
      Hopefully you can claim these devices as a tax deduction one day 😆

    Thank you for gifting this nerd child with his first glimpse of Sea Monkeys! I ordered the kit as a kid, followed the instructions, and never saw any. I was sooo disappointed!

      Glad you enjoyed the video :) Ah yeah this seems to be a common experience with many people who get them. It's reeeally important to keep their tank water temperature stable and warm. I use under thank heat pads for my tanks with a thermostat that maintains a temp around 26 degrees C. You should try rising them again some time!

    Thanks for making this. I was always curious about these as a kid, but they probably wouldn't have gotten very far with me in charge.

      It's never too late to start a tank :) I believe Sea Monkeys are increasing in popularity again so there's lots of great info online now about how to raise them successfully. Let me know if you have any questions

    Would it be possible to get a video of one of the females giving birth or delivering some eggs? :)

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 роки тому +3

      I’ve never actually seen this happen in the tank before, but I believe that when pregnant female brine shrimp are close to death they release their eggs just before they die. So I would be able to get a microscope video of it, but it would probably kill her in the process :/

    • @missmaddox
      @missmaddox 2 роки тому +4

      @@pico-cosmos aww :c okay don't kill them I just suggested it because I'm not exactly sure *how* they give birth and I thought it would be cool to see, but don't kill a mama! Thanks anyways I appreciate the reply 😊

    Thank you so much for this video, i'm obsessed with brine shrimp so i thoroughly enjoyed this.
    I have a question though, I've hatched mine with the actual sea monkey brand, if i add normal brine shrimp eggs, would it kill my current sea monkeys?
    I don't want to add anymore sea monkey eggs from the original package because it will raise the salt in the water when it's already perfect. If that makes sense 😅

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Milly, my apologies for the late reply on this. The problem with adding in normal brine shrimp eggs is that you don't know if they're the same species as your Sea-Monkeys - so you may end up having 2 different species that aren't able to reproduce together. This isn't necessarily a big deal, but just something to think about. That being said, if you Sea-Monkey tank is really healthy your mature females should be live birthing new babies into the tank regularly. I'd suggest checking out my video titled "How to keep your Sea-Monkeys alive' for some tips on improving the health of your tank :)

      Yup, one of the biological novelties the vintage instruction booklet emphasized when I got a kit in the mid 1970s.
