You’re so nice, John. Actually, it is I that wants to thank YOU for these great videos and bringing attention to the Sea-Monkey brand in such a positive light. Great video and fun for me to finally see this odd little kit opened and up and running. I appreciate everything you’re doing as does Yolanda. Thanks again and keep it up. - Tod 🦐🙊🍼
🙏 Cheers Tod! This was a really fun video to make; still no luck with hatching those eggs though but I’ll keep my fingere crossed 🤞 send my well wishes to Yolanda :) I hope she gets a chance to see these videos some time
As someone who was frightened by the older versions of the sea monkeys… I really really like the art. It’s so cute! They did a really nice job with it :)! I like that they have a “nursery.” It’s just nice to see that they know that starting your colony and maintaining it can be hard, so having the hatchlings by themselves to be more successful! :) It does look so flimsy which is really sad. Tod’s art is so great!! I love seeing his updated versions!
Also, an update on my added grow light… it was definitely a coincidence of my older ones dying when I added the light, and the light is definitely helping my algae growth :)
That’s great to hear Sarah! When I was trying to figure out the secrets to keeping brine shrimp alive I noticed time and time again that those who have the healthiest tanks also have a lot of green algae growing in there. So I’m glad to hear yours is starting to take off :)
I had no idea they still produced sea monkey kits! Ohhh, I'm so excited! I can't wait to get one for my son! Thank you so much for the helpful tips on additional important supplies like a heater, air stone, and uv light.
I have a knock off sea monkey tank, and they unfortunately ran out of food. My step dad bought the wrong food, and here's the weird part, they died from the food and they somehow resurrected from the dead. And what gets even weirder is, what was their poison, became their prime source of food. I even lost the pipette for them and they do just fine. That makes me believe they evolved somehow.😅
I actually just found your channel and I think what you teach and do in your videos is actually really interesting. Keep going because, I want more please. :3
Thanks for the video! Here's hoping the eggs hatch, I would love to see the babies in the nursery. Shame about the quality though. I'm also looking forward to seeing the updated handbook!
@@pico-cosmos oh no, that’s such a shame! I don’t think it’s available in Australia, but hoping to get my hands on the handbook in future tanks! (Hopefully)
Cheers :) I hatched some beavertail fairy shrimp eggs a little while ago that had a few clam shrimp eggs mixed in, but I've never had triops. I do plan on making videos about triops and other vernal pool crustaceans in the near future; sea-monkeys have just captured my spirit for now :) would love to hear your tips for triops / clam shrimp if you have any!
Yeah definitely! I have plans to do clam shrimp, triops, fairy shrimp, daphnia etc in the future. Just working through the Sea-Monkey stuff at the moment though :)
Really wanna get a set of these again but I dont have a place to put it where the cat wont get at it. Also dont think the temperature is good enough for survival. Dont think my last one lasted more than a 2-6 weeks. Pretty sure it was temperature because I did feed them properly and aerated the tank regularly.
Are they mating? I highly suggest watching my video about how to keep your Sea-Monkey alive. If you follow those tips you should be good How to Keep Your Sea Monkeys Alive | Top 5 Tips! ua-cam.com/video/ttlYkpcct1M/v-deo.html
Wait!!!! U telling me the eggs are in packet 1?! I thought it was just aquarium salt! I was grinding them with a spoon after I poured them in the tank! :( Surely the eggs are microscopic and are unharmed!
not a collector of sea monkey products, just a collector of sea monkeys. Nothing wrong with that, the brine shrimp are the whole point of the product anyways side note id be fascinated to see how genetically similar these old eggs are to the ones the company sells today. They could be genetically as close as biologically possible for the species or they could be nearly identical on a genetic level, and we wouldn't know till getting some genetic analysis done. Maybe you'd see a genetic clock phenomenon by comparing different eras of eggs, with a proportional genetic difference to the amount of time since the eggs were laid. If that's what would be found, then it would mean the sea monkeys the company sells are essentially clones, with the only genetic variety coming from mutations happening over time.
@@pico-cosmos yeah I love ur videos:) and I talked to my dad about putting the baby in a different tank. First time it was winter died because of cold So I have an extra tank
My seamonkey female tale is bent tbh she has always been smaller than all the rest and swam funny and now that she is grown I think she is deformed I cannot work out if she is dying or surviving because she swims but is mostly at the bottom. I only have 7 seak ones the tank is 3 months old I occasionally have babies but they disappear not really sure what I am doing wrong they are breeding but the females egg pouches are dark brown is that normal?
Sometimes I do yeah, but it’s not essential. I just clean it up so the tank looks a little nicer. If you remove saltwater from the tank it needs to be replaced with more saltwater though which can be a little complicated

Good luck with raising them :D
Tbh, it's so easy for me to raise my sea monkeys. I leave them next to my dunny window, forget about them, 5 weeks later see them, and they are huge!!

@@pico-cosmos a few mostly just a large pack of eggs and triops
It is almost my birthday I have asked

Get yourself a USB aquarium heater 👍 they’re cheap and small enough to fit into little Sea-Monkey tanks. I show them in some of my other videos
Great video! Do they sale the sea monkey ocean treasure kits? I can’t find them anywhere in the US 😢
I liked
your video John😄
What do you do when you're Sea monkeys food ran out?
I feed mine live microalgae that I grow at home
I have one of those with a big blue air stone, it’s actually my most recent video

If I want to transport my 2nd generation babies into a new tank should I add a water purifier?
It’s probably best to set up a whole new tank using packets #1 & #2 - and then just keep one tank for adults and another for babies
