There's an exercise called "Grounding" used in therapy for anxiety attacks. You see a lot of people that give bad reviews to a video game, for example, and a lot of the frustration is based on what is missing. Meanwhile, others absolutely enjoy it with a focus on what it does well. Same goes for life. If we focus too much on what we lack or opportunities missed, it can take the joy away from the things or the people we have in our lives.

@bornonthebattlefront4883 I'm actually glad you brought up Starfield. Because I genuinely enjoy playing it. There are lots of things to do in the base game it'll only get more and more with DLC like Skyrim and modders are a godsend. I'd the $50 bucks I paid for it was well worth the 120 hours I've already put into the game. Is it as much value as, say, Helldivers is as $40 bucks? Nope, but at least I can consistently play Starfield even offline. Starfield is a perfect example of people pretending the devs promised one thing and setting their expectations way to high and getting exactly what they marketed the game to be. Once again. Focus on what a game has and what it does well rather than comparing it to other games in the same genre because comparison is the thief of joy.

The quote of having being wherever you wanted to be and still not being satisfied or feel belonging really hits me. I tried that before, change places, change venues...changed social groups...yet I still envy where I'm not and what I don't have.
Similar myself but gratitude is the best attitude. If you say you are envious remember others are also envious of you or somethings you have. I've learned it's best to deprive yourself of a thing or two temporarily so you can actually remember how thankful you are.
I feel the same way. I speak only for myself when I say that I believe it is nothing more than the most supreme selfishness. It's a choice to dwell only on the things you don't have and aren't doing. You should either just do those things or be thankful for what you have and see the positive. A problem people have with the former, a part of them is always empty, whether you jump from one thing to the next or do multiple things simultaneously. The latter, while granting a sort of peace and happiness, would often leave others greatly unsatisfied with how they lived their lives. I understand life can be tough, and circumstances can affect your life, but at the end of the day, you're only sticking yourself between a rock and a hard place.
To anyone wondering how deep this quote goes it’s simply put the present in life is important for our sanity it’s keeps us grounded to what is not what was or will be
Your brain is your greatest enemy but also your most powerful tool it all depends on what you feed it. If you keep thinking “ I’m not where I want to be “. “ life is out to get me “ “ everyone else is happy but me “ it’s all you’ll ever feel. Instead try to think “ I’m farther than I was yesterday “ and suddenly your whole perspective will shift.
I think it was uncle Iroh who said "if you ever keep searching for darkness in the dark, that's all you'll ever find, but if you keep searching for a ray of light, you'll eventually find it"
Made me think of a quote from Austin Powers.😅 Austin to guy he's walking past: "Hey, there you are!" Guy: "Hey, do I know you?" Austin: "No, but that's where you are, you're there!"
I don't care much for grass, anyhow. Gimme dirt, roots, and leaves... grass is overrated. And it weirds me out when it's too green and all the same shade. Lol😅
To anyone interested, what hes describing is the hedonistic treadmill. Its a philosophical idea that humans will always be unsatisfied with what they have
I thought he was talking about the always missing part of humans since the Fall. We want Eden but even if we got back there, we are different, so we never feel quite right/ home/complete. The Spirit of God that was breathed into Adam was lost but Jesus got it back. That's what's missing and it feels like a place. Of course the Devil wants you to live a little, get distracted from the fact His help got us into the mess and this place and time is ephemeral and he has a great deal of control but pretends he doesn't even exist...so don't take his advice. Lol. But God wants us to focus on afterlife and stop worrying when we give God the burden, we take on an easy yoke and live life more abundantly when we aren't striving. Accepting Christ so we regain the thing we lost in the next part of life is the real goal.bIf we focus on the living we lose the everlasting. Those who try to save their lives, lose it. Repent means realize control is an illusion and we just want back with God deep down, all.of us, because we know it was better. The issue is it's already been taken care of if you just admit you need a Savior and didn't earn it. Accepting the gift is easy when you set your mind straight and focus on Jesus Christ. The way, the truth, the Life...what we are all really seeking. Ask, seek, knock...
True story that bartender told about why we polish glassware like that. Not only does it make the establishment look empty when they see a bartender with nothing to do, but it also makes the time go by a lot slower. If you got time to lean, you got time to clean something.
One of the key lessons of life. Everyone is always trying to ‘get’ somewhere, so many forget just how lucky they are now and fail to enjoy where they are now. And one day, it won’t matter where you got to, only what you did with what you had!
True. In worrying about past or future, we forget to live in the moment. And we regret it as well once it's gone. So the cycle continues until we sit with ourselves intentionally.
There is no need to worry about what we can't control. We only have so many hours in a day, using your time to create your dream is a better use of your time, and you get to reap the rewards.

Starlord saying "I'm lost in space" is definitely not what I expected
To anyone wondering how deep this quote goes it’s simply put the present in life is important for our sanity it’s keeps us grounded to what is not what was or will be
Ngl I don't think anybody cares because of how worthless advice and quotes are
Yeah so not that deep😂
please use ponctuation next time
Yea couldn't have said it any better, just as oogway once said, yesterday is history, Tommorow is a mystery but today is a gift
It’s messages like these that make me realize how important punctuation is because I almost had a stroke trying to understand this shit
Amen. Thank you.
I'll try this❤

Austin to guy he's walking past: "Hey, there you are!"
Guy: "Hey, do I know you?"
Austin: "No, but that's where you are, you're there!"

The grass is not greener on the other side. Make the best of today and what you have right in front of you. Be grateful. ❤
Its green where you water it.
You have to water grass for it to grow. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the fence because we don’t tend to our side.
Yo have you even seen the other sides grass? Way greener.
I don't care much for grass, anyhow. Gimme dirt, roots, and leaves... grass is overrated. And it weirds me out when it's too green and all the same shade. Lol😅
If the grass is greener on the other side, it's because somebody spread a lot of manure around to make it so. Probably using forced labor...

To anyone interested, what hes describing is the hedonistic treadmill. Its a philosophical idea that humans will always be unsatisfied with what they have
Very true. Majority of people are too inward looking, when calm comes from outward looking
no, you got it wrong
nothing to do with hedonism whatsoever really…. Possibly peripherally
Your focus is way too narrow
No sika
@@waynefay8210true. That hole they’re trying to fill is where Jesus Christ is knocking on the soul.

The more you dwell on nostalgia, the more you are unable to make memories in the present

life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced
This shit gonna give me an existential crisis 😂

There is a saying which has the same meaning. It goes like this: "Wherever you go, there you are" -- pretty much that you take all the shit with you, all your past, all your heartbreak, everything. You cannot restart
