Hey 👋 I gotta is your
Without question the best large cut tutorial on youtube. Everyone else has no clue what they are doing so I don’t know why they think they should make a video showing others.
Thank you so much for making this tutorial simple to understand. I have watched four videos on how to do this and yours is the only one I understand!
Thank you so much! I did a quick google search for how to create a very large cricut cut-out and this completely answered my question. Thank you!!
Finally, a video showing each and every step! Thank you.
You just saved my project THANKS! I had welded the names together for a wedding sign not thinking about the fact together it made them 2" over the 12" max...thanks so much!

Glad it helped!
Thanks! Very helpful! I watched other videos for the same thing and still couldn't figure out how to make my image larger.
Thank you for sharing!!!
THANK YOU! This is so much easier to teach since the way I normally split it is through photoshop and not everyone I try to teach this to uses photoshop! I'm going to tackle a 36 inch decal for the side of a car using this method. I'm excited to give it a try!
Yeah, we're so glad to hear that it helped. Let us know how the decal turned out!

Where transfer paper? Awesome tutorial Thank you.
AWSOME!
Oh my gosh, I'm going to try this. I've been trying to do a simple sign however, I need it be 53 long and 10 3/4 high letters (well thinking 8" high is good and maybe swirls on the front of the words and after. I've been struggling and struggling to do so. Thanks for this so much.
We're glad this helped.
Hello great craftsmanship 😬
Thanks
Thanks for sharing how to create larger design layouts using our cricut, I have the air 2. Do you know how to reload your mat in the exact place for repeated etching (later dates) of same designs over and over to achieve exact placement of the etch design?
This was a fabulous tutorial. This is something I have wanted to do for quite sometime now. Thank you for sharing. I was wondering, do you sell the transfer tape in the large rolls such as the one used in the video ?
Hi Tracey, we do carry the transfer tape. We have it in 6 in rolls or in 12 inch rolls which we used for this tutorial. It can be found here: expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape.html
This was great, thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing! After I slice the image it resized. Was it suppose to seeing that I am putting it together to equal a whole picture or should it stay what I sliced it at ? (My original size)
GREAT VIDEO 👍
Thank You!
Thank you very much for this simply explained video. Is there a video on larger than 12 by 12 Mat? Thank u
Hi, this video we used the 12 x 24 size sheet of vinyl and you'd could use the 12 x 24 size mat as well. We also have another one that is a large wall decal. Here is the link to it - ua-cam.com/video/1LII1qpsMjk/v-deo.html Hopefully that helps.
Thanks, you really helped with my project!
Great video! I would like to see what you do if there are two colors you need to incorporate.
Try out this video :) ua-cam.com/video/5izafu32CDc/v-deo.html
Thank Yo!
Great idea thanks
K thank u
Where did you get such a massive roll of transfer tape. Great job on the tutorial! I may not be so scared to try it now. Thank you!
Thank you! Here's a link for the tape she used expressionsvinyl.com/paper-transfer-tape-roll/
Thank you! We couldn't figure out how to slice the image! Great video!
You are welcome!
Thank you very much, you made that such a simple job. What kind of transfer paper is that? Thanks!
Paper transfer tape.
When you lice how do you know what size to use in the position boxes?
Thank you very much - your video is clear and easy to follow. My one question would be where you buy such a large roll of transfer tape?
You are welcome! Thanks for tuning in! This is where you can get the Transfer Tape. We love it!! expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/rolls/
Very helpful. thank you. Where do you get your transfer paper?
Hi, we carry it in our shop. We have it in sheets or rolls. It is a favorite of ours! expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/
Thank you very much! The video was wonderful - can I ask where you purchased the transfer paper?
Hi Lynn, you can get it here - expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/
It's one of our favorites!
Thank you so much!!! Where did you get that roll of transfer tape, exactly what I would love to have!
Here is a link to the transfer tapes that we carry expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/
Im cutting a 24x24 with multiple shapes and colors how do i go about it
Thank you for the video, what kind of transfer tape do you use and where do you get it from?
She was using the paper transfer tape. expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/rolls/
This is awesome. I been trying to figure out how to make big vinyls. Where do you get that paper transfer tape?
Here's a link for it expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/
This is good to know thank you so much! does this work the same way if we were doing a stencil design say for a pillow?
Yes, you can!
@@Expressionsvinyls I am trying to do my first pillow. Video seems like it will be helpful. Watching while at work (obviously not working...whoops). Will watch again later at home. Thank you!
JoAnn, hello! love your vids! When i send the project to the mat, not only is it not showing my image, its not separating into 3 different matts (yours seperates 2, I did 3 for a larger image). you you have any idea what I may have done wrong?
Hi Alexandria, thank you so much. I'm not sure what may be happening without seeing the file. Is it only one layer and then you have separated it into 3 sections? Let us know. You can either reply back on here or email us at support@expressionsvinyl.com and mention that it is cutting large images on the Cricut. Let us know!
Great video! What kind of transfer paper do you use? I’m looking for a new good one!
I am using this paper transfer tape in the 12" roll. expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/ It is very easy to work with.
Great Video. Like like how nicely you"teach", Thank you for that. What kind of Vinyl do yoiu use, and what Transfer Paper? I just started out and I love this amazing WONDERmashine :-)
Hi!, Thank You so much. The type of vinyl you use would depend on the projects you are doing. If you are making decals for your indoor walls then I recommend removable vinyl. Here is a link to that - expressionsvinyl.com/removable-adhesive-vinyl/ If you were doing things that were more permanent, outside, on vehicles, etc. then you would want to use a Permanent vinyl. Here is the link to those - expressionsvinyl.com/permanent-adhesive-vinyl/
My personal preference on transfer tape is the paper kind. We carry it in rolls or sheets. I haven't had a problem transferring my vinyl to any different type of surface. It works great on wood, glass, cardstock, etc. This is the link to that - expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/ If you are worried about being able to see while you are layering then you may not want to use that one. You can still see through it but not as easy as the clear. For layering I like to use the grid lined that can be found here - expressionsvinyl.com/gridlined-clear-transfer-tape-12x30-roll/
Hopefully this helps.
@@Expressionsvinyls I want to put a mural on my daughters painted wall. I'm worried the transfer paper will pull off the paint? What would you recommend?
@@loiseubank7749 We have used all of the transfer tapes that we carry on a wall. We have not had any issues with them pulling the paint off with it.
@@Expressionsvinyls thanks!
Hi love ur video but couldnt u rotate the sweet to fit the 12x 24 ? N the rest of it thank u
Hi Ida, yes that is another option as well. We just wanted to show the basic concept of cutting an image larger than the 12 x 24 mat you are limited to.
I can't seem to change the width and height without them both changing! New user!
Hi, there is a little icon that looks like a chain link between the width and height. That just means the proportion are locked. If you click on it you should be able to update each separately. Hopefully that helps.
If you you are using an Ipad how do you slice the image?
Could you link where you purchased your transfer tape from? It looks so nice. Thanks!
Hi Jennifer,
We carry it in our shop. Here is the link to it - expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Great video, JoAnn! Can this method be used doing print then cut in Cricut?
Yes, absolutely!
I was so excited when I saw this video, but, I tried using an uploaded svg to make a 11” x 46” porch sign and my explore air wouldn’t allow it. I did not get the slice options with my squares. I also had to weld my design, does that make a difference?
You will still be able to use the slice method. You just have to make sure that you only have two things selected. If you have more than 2 then it will not slice.
Where did u get this transfer tape ? It come off so clean !
On our website! expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/
thank you for the video BUT I dont have a rectangle option on my shapes can I add one
What machine do you use?
do you have a link for the transfer tape you use in this video?! I would LOVE to have a large roll that doesnt have the backing!
We do, right here - expressionsvinyl.com/paper-transfer-tape-12x100-roll/
can you do the matt displayed on print and cut
It depends on the printer you have available.
What kind of transfer tape were you using on that big roll-It looked like wax paper? I would like to get that
She is using the paper transfer tape expressionsvinyl.com/paper-transfer-tape-roll/.
Looking for help please. I just purchased the Explore Air 2 yesterday so I am a newbie! I was following along with your video (which is very helpful, by the way) but I am running into a problem. I select my image in the layers field and I see the slice icon is black but when I hit control and one of my rectangles the slice icon goes gray so I am no longer able to use it. Not sure why. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Donna, you want to make sure that you only have 2 images selected. Sometimes the images come in grouped together. When you select one look at the layers panel to see if you have the "Ungroup" option. If you do, then make sure that you ungroup it and then select the image and the rectangle. Hopefully this helps.
Can this technique also be used for HTV iron-on projects? I am making a hoodie, and the design needs to be at least 16 inches across the chest. Thanks!
It is possible to piece together iron-on designs as well. Yes!
Nice! Enjoyed it! What size vinyl is that?
Hi, this one we used 12 x 24 sheets of vinyl so the full size was about 24 x 24 inches. However, we are working on a video where the finished version is about 5 ft by 5 ft. Stay tuned!
www.expressionsvinyl.com
May I ask what type of transfer paper you are using in the vidoe?
Hi, we used the paper transfer tape. Here is a link to it - expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/paper/
newby question please can you tell me how to view a large image on the cricut space? there must be something to click to reduce or zoom it down?
Thank you so much for your video.
Hi, it's a little hard to find. In the bottom left had corner of your screen there is a + and - where you can zoom in and out. It is greyed out and difficult to see but if you move your mouse over it you will see it. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
@@Expressionsvinyls Thank you so very much. I was just about to ask this question as I'm a newbie as well. Great video!
Great video. What is the font that u used?
This is a image that she purchased from Cricut Design space.
Have you found a way to avoid having 1 image cut into 2 parts? Like maybe cut 24" and then pause the cricut and pull the tape back to cut the other half of the image or something similar?
No, unfortunately there isn't a way to do that. The image will not even begin to cut unless it fits within the size limits in Design Space. The only way to do it is have it set up in 12 x 24 inch pieces.
where can i get a larger cricut mat? ive only seen the 12by 12. joanns or Micheals maybe?
Joanns and Micheals carry the 12x24 Cricut cutting mats
how were you able to get the large matt displayed in preivew
You can select the mat size under page setup.
In your design space canvas, how did you get your squares smaller and to skip numbers so all of your project fits in that corner? when i make mine that big it takes up my whole screen?
Hi Rebecca, in the bottom right hand corner there is a plus and minus sign to zoom in and out. I just had the screen zoomed out as far as I could. Hopefully that helps. Please let us know what other questions you might have.
I am fairly new and just realized I was with to the point of print. Then after looking at your printout, I noticed you have white with pink letters. What did I miss? How do I do that? I can only visualize one color of vinyl.
Hi Cindy, In this video we are cutting the adhesive vinyl. We aren't actually printing everything. After it was cut then I weeded out the excess. Where I removed the excess is what you see in white. The pink is the vinyl left on the backing sheet. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. We'd be happy to help.

Why do you use the paper transfer tape vs. the clear transfer tape?
Hi Heather, the paper and the clear are both great options. My personal favorite is the paper so it is always my go to.
expressionsvinyl.com/transfer-tape/
Can this be used for large pieces of fabric as well. I’m thinking of purchasing a cricut but for mostly fabric purposes.
I would assume so, never tried it with fabric, but it should essentially be the same concept
