@debbiegrossman she sang all of the money notes in the original key and even songs the optional Eb at the end. It’s only the verse that’s modulated down because the production was going for a more Broadway sound in places and wanted a more ‘natural’ transition from speaking to singing. They made changes, in that respect to the score throughout. They then modulate the song so that it gets back to the original key and she sings all of cadenza and twiddly operatic sections in the original key
I listened to the D'Oyly Carte recording when I was 16 and loved to sing this. But I think she's added a few stratospheric notes that I never heard D'Oyly Carte include!
No properly brought up young English gel in the nineteenth century would have pronounced been as ben and not been. Not to mention flaunting their unmentionables...
Just lovely.
Wow! Serious operatic voices doing their thing. Stellar...

I go back to Jean Hindermarsh with the D'Oyle Carte Opera Company.
This is as good as any french or Italian opera
Linda Ronstadt did an unbelievable wonderful version of this. Who would have thought?
Not in the original key ;-)

Pity about the lack of synchronism between the sound track and the video!!!

Me too - I hate to think what I sounded like - in my head it was glorious falsetto 🤭
Brava!
The conductor needs some Redbull... it's not a durge!

Yes, but this is Las Vegas. Unmentionable flaunting is a tradition there. Proper diction not so much.
@@wbmac1958 Dear Mr. Macintyre,
Thank you for commenting on my comment. I think I hear what you are saying.
Vowels need work...
Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
