Do you personally do bookings for us Australians jay? Totally understand if you don't ❤
I would say their idea is, “the ship IS the destination,” more than theme park at sea.
That’s a great theory too. I believe with this ship of laws allowed they would do cruises to nowhere or at least one stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay and who knows maybe even with overnights stays.
@@JSHIPLIFE agreed. And that’s why the “problem” of not fitting into many ports doesn’t bother Royal at all. They’re fine with these ships going to the “same old, same old,” ports. Lots of people stay on the ships while at port and that’s just fine with them!
@@BrianAlt Very True
@@JSHIPLIFE Whats happened to Lauren? Havent seen her for ages
@@ellem2293 She’s been approved for her K-1 Visa to move to the U.S. with me but she’s not allowed to come back here until her paperwork is finalized which takes about 2-3 months after our interview at the U.S. Embassy in Paris 2 months ago.
I agree with you 100%!
I was telling my wife and family the same thing a couple of days ago.
The audience will support the higher price! That is Royals target
The CUSTOMER will support the CON class prices till they don't. My estimate is The CON will be in Algia Turkey in under 10 years.
I think your analysis is correct - and that’s one reason I don’t plan on sailing Icon except maybe to see it once. Perfect for families. For solo adults, not so much. But gotta give them props!!
Salute to you brotha. Keep building your empire. If I ever plan on going on a cruise I will definitely look for u and pass along my friend's to u as well
Icon of the season can't port everywhere and what's the point of going to the island and pay wen thy just gone stay on the ship @jshiplife
So sorry because I don’t think I will sail with Royal as much as I love them but tut the prices are out of this world and I do not have have kids so a lot of their amenities do not appeal to me so I will have to look at other lines….just like Disney. As much as I love Disney I don’t want to spend a cruise with all kinds of kids….even though I understand they have an adult only section…..😢😢
Do you really have to add the word “damn?” What if the person who wants you as a travel agent is offended by unnecessary unpleasant language? I f I didn’t already have an agent and were considering you, that would have turned me away.
Your so lame for that 😂
A floating resort city at sea. Not for me. I cruise to get to destinations and I like to actually be able to see the ocean 🌊 and be near the water and sunshine ☀️.
Icon OTS looks like a shopping mall to me - not what I want to do. Thanks.
I would rather sail on a smaller ship and enjoy the water and the ports and the relaxation
Your vacation is the cruise ship. Some people just like to stay on board and skip the ports and they wouldn't run out of things to do.
I am like this especially if it's a port that i've been to. only reason i'll get off the ship now is if I want to get some local food.
Yes but you also have to consider the fact that Royal will have to a wider audience if they want to keep this massive ships full in the long term. Also Perfect Day at CocoCay exist which they are investing heavily into at the moment.
@@JSHIPLIFE that's true! I don't think they'll have a problem keeping their audience captivated. It's beautiful.
I know I would rather stay on the ship and enjoy as much as I possibly can 😎🛳️🛳️
After a certain degree, these ships stop being about cruising. If I want to go to a theme park, I'll choose one that's on land, and doesn't cost me >$8K to visit for a week. These ships are just too big now. I thought it was out of control when they started surpassing 4000 passengers, but now they're pushing towards 10K. The last time I went to a resort, it had a maximum capacity of 210 guests, and it was amazing because it felt like no one was there, you never had to wait for anything. With the numbers you get on Icon of the Seas, I have to imagine something like getting a deck chair by the pool on a sunny day would be effectively impossible unless you pay for a cabana.
I have stock in Royal Caribbean & I hope they keep making money. So far the stock has been awesome & making money. Keep it up Royal Caribbean. You will be a great travel agent. Follow up with your clients when they return. Number 1 thing most agents don’t do.
I spent my 20s as a travel agent. I loved it. Hope you do too!!!! Two words, group cruises.
I think they're trying to be more of a family all inclusive resort than a themepark. Think about it other cruise lines have the roller coasters and go karts. Either way they are definitely caritering to familys with kids....even with their scam of kids go free promotions LOL
I am a 57year old disabled RN that could not possibly walk from one side to the other on ICON. However if I was in my 20's or 30's I would have absolutely loved this ship. It looks like you would need to be onboard for 3 weeks to see it all. There would be no reason to go to a port in the Caribbean unless you want a beach day. Love from your #1 fan in Delray Beach.
What in the “Royal Caribbean” is going on here?😂😂😂
Jay, I have to say its GREAT seeing a young man as yourself finding a career and looks like you are giving it 1000% to achieve your goal, I sure you want to be "THE BEST of THE BEST" in your field of Travel, in my day you would have been called a "GO GETTER " I can see one day you will have you own Travel Agency, I just have one piece of advice for you ( I was in sales most of my life) take care of the clients/customers needs and wants and the dollars will follow, be safe, Peace... your new word for today is "UP SALE UP SALE and more UP SALE"... LOL...
I like the comment ...the ship is the destination
Welcome to fhloston paradise! If you know the move The 5th Element, then you know. That is where royal is going with this class of ship imo.
Disneys star wars fake space cruise stole from that one too haha The singing Diva.
@@jedimindtrixr4kidz294 the Supreme Being 😂😂😂😂😂
@@booga_booga_booga The videos people took had me laughing hard, it's really blatant they knew what they were doing.
Come to CARNIVAL FIRENZE new ship launch to Mexico in May 2024!
I’ll be there
If they want to be a theme park of the sea they need to invest in licensing with a well known brand/characters. People go to Disney cruise not because the ship but the themes and characters. Royal needs better theming and a story to lock emotions around. This is where universal and Disney succeed and six flags has failed to maintain with looney toons characters
I miss them working with dream works
Honestly I love the theme park at sea but I love theme parks in general lol, I like that I everything I want to do is right there.
You can't compare Virgin Voyage private beach with Hideaway Beach as Hideaway Beach charges guests. Would be great if Hideaway Beach was free, but RC charges for everything
Nothing is wrong with adding activities. Everyone doesn't cruise to island hop. Many people pick ships as well as Lines based off the activities/entertainment. I mean that is why most travel. To each their own I guess. The big question 🤔 How many of these activities are up charges?
To me your analysis is spot on.
Even the first published renderings of the aft of the Icon of the Seas already look like the result of designing a themepark using the simulation „Roller Coaster Tycoon“ on as few tiles as possible.
It’s a resort with all kinds of entertainment, and its ability to float mainly enables it to change place in order to be in the most attractive locations.
There were rumours floating around about universal parks getting into the cruise ship industry .. so you aren’t too far off J
I've heard that also and they're supposed to have a Harry Potter theme
I'd say the success of the Freedom class gave them the data points for the "theme park at sea." It really changed the game as the ship being the destination in itself. They then tested this data with the Oasis class. With its success, they've gone full in.
It doesn’t have enough adult only spaces .
True but there are still options. That’s all they need to attract adults without kids even if it’s a somewhat small percentage
I do not like theme parks...I will pass...royal should do a virgin style adult only
Rumor has it that Icon 3 will be in Galveston, TX.
The families can have the huge ships. Less people and children makes a more relaxing vacation.
Anything above Quantum class is just too much, too big for us. My wife and I actually like the smaller ships.
I think you just hit the nail on the head! I've been calling these huge ships floating amusement parks for years. Being a person whose grandkids are grown, the idea of an amusement park ship has zero interest to me. I just hope the major lines (NCL, Carnival and Royal Caribbean) remember their other customers and keep or build smaller ships that are styled more like traditional cruising. When NCL started its FreeStyle I was the happiest person around! All the fun stuff like the late evening BBQ by the pool, the chocolate buffet, and fun entertainment, but not having to dress up every few nights.
Nice ship but I don't like the Iternary that ICON of the SEAS goes to.
Royal Caribbean prices are surely 😊creeping up like Disney cruises
Personally I can't wait to sail on that floating awesomeness!!
Disney SUCKS
I loved your analysis. Do not apologize. I believe a lot of your subs come to your channel for an intellectual approach to this industry
I love the bright colours on icon but feel it reminds me of a kids playground or a kids day care centre. Looks cool though :)
Great insights for RC, and I believe you're onto something there. And yes, as long as people pay the prices, RC will keep on keeping on.
I theme park as a hobby, but it’s a really niche hobby. I travel all over the world visiting amusement parks. On the other hand I cruise to get away from Orlando-so this isn’t for me. I’ll stick with MSC, Holland, and Carnival for now.
Disney with more alcohol. Immersive but with a lot more freedom of choice than Disney.
Speaking of Royals marketing… did you see that Mr Beast visited CoCo Kay in his last video.
Good luck either way that but I’m not taking my5 to 10 yr old on Royal Cribbean
No we love cruising, but we like getting off the ship & exploring the port cities.
Great video and yes this is very exciting!!! I’m literally spinning in my seat begging Carnival to make a ‘Baby Icon’!!! I prefer Carnival over Royal but Royal’s product is so damn superior to Carnivals products you have no choice but to book Royal!!! Even if the ‘Vibe’ isn’t the same, the ship makes up for it!!!
The Icon is beautiful, but to open and top heavy. Last year I believe it was Wonder of the Seas had rough seas and all of the pools water overflowed and spilled down to the Atrium, had it not been opened this wouldn't have happened. Sorry I will not be sailing on this ship and those prices for cabins are ridiculous
That is not true, Wonder of the Seas, had a sprinkler malfunction and that is what caused the promenade to flood!!! Icon is an entirely different class of ship all together!!! No one would force you to sail on this ship, for there are dozens of ships to choose from, that is the beauty of cruising!!!! But I prefer to sail on the larger ships over the smaller ships!!!@@deborahhines6794
The ship is quickly becoming the destination.
Somewhat. What about CocoCay
@JSHIPLIFE CocoCay seems like a bigger, better version of the ship. Frankly, Icon and CocoCay are all I'm looking forward to. Although I will probably get off the ship when at St.Kitts & St. Thomas.
Icon looks extremely cold to me.
Like a cheap shopping mall in my opinion
Thanks Mate
I wish Royal would come out with an adult only ship! Virgins vibe isn’t for everyone and in return they are not capturing all of the adult cruisers who want that adult only experience due to their culture on that ship. Royal would change the game if they had an adult only ship.
Ill continue to watch you get on those mega Pint boats. I dont trust them and the costs and extras .. sorry. Nope. Ty . 😊
The Golden Age of Cruising...
THESE PRICES AREN'T FOR EVERYONE. I CERTAINLY CAN'T AFFORD THIS SHIP SO IT'S APPEALING TO PEOPLE THAT HAVE ALOT OF MONEY. PLUS TOO MANY PEOPLE FOR ME AND WAY TOO LARGE. HOW THEY BOOK THIS TO FULL CAPACITY IS MIND BOGGLING TO ME. CRUISING IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL
Utopia coming out this year aswell and star next year
You're gonna be awesome travel agent I wish you the best.
Mickey not going out without a fight watch your back royal Caribbean😂😂
I wanted to be a travel agent, but I'm to broke. I didn't know you needed $$$ to become one😢
I believe you're spot on. Great analysis
This ship is AMAZING..
Idk who thy attracting they price is nuts
I agree with you Jay. Royal Carribean had beautiful ships that were the largest in the world back when they had the Soverign Class. My first cruise was on Sovereign of the Seas; then I cruised on Monarch of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas. They were amazing cruise ships with enough activity. The ships were very nice and pretty then they came out with ships with the slides and water activity and began to sell off the Sovereign Class. The last one to go was Majesty of the Seas. I think they are going for being the choice if people don't want to do a Disney cruise yet like going to Disneyland and Disney World. Disney cruises are what they are and they are pricey. Some people will go with Royal Carribean as another choice. Royal Carribean has everything. I cruise Celebrity for a more laid back adult cruise and Royal Carribean when I want a fun experidence with a variety of activity. i think they will probably go smaller in future building at some point to be affordable for those who don't want to cruise Celebrity their premium brand or Silversea which is the luxury brand.
😊
Humans need to stop testing their limits……
I said this ship looks like a floating theme park.
totally agree!! Wow you figured it out!
Rc has to go smaller at some point since their smallest ships are pretty old
HAHAHAHAHA
Love your videos, never been on a cruise but I live vicariously via your experiences!
How can it be a "secret," if...
J you need an assistant now😅
I agree 1000%
As an avid Disney cruiser, a ship with that many people would give me SO much anxiety. Disney ships currently don’t have more than 5K. I appreciate the less congested ships
@@bodyloverz30 I know. But currently, they are under 5K.
So, do you think NCL is trying to move away from the big 3 category and move up the Celebrity/Princess/Holland tier?
They seem to be investing in families/ ppl with kids. I wish Royal Caribbean would launch an adults only line or at least an adults only ship....
I guess this isn't much of a stretch. As you mentioned, Oasis class was already something of a floating resort at sea, probably more fully realized with Harmony and Symphony. But it makes sense if these ships are in the Caribbean and going to those "evergreen" ports like Cozumel and Nassau. There's only so much of those places you can explore, and if you're not looking for a beach day, then you can have fun on board instead.
I did not care for that Nassau beach...all those rocks...just busy tight and not real glam
@@kimkirksey562 I hear you. Junkanoo does the job if Nassau is your only port of call, but there are better beaches in other ports.
i think your mixing or confusing Freedom and Voyager class. they are very similar but Freedom class was considered the next class of ship, but yes Freedom did have a small "water park" that Voyager did not have at first
It's probably a matter of time before Royal puts a full blown amusement park on their island. That would set a cruiseline apart--if they had a fullblown amusement park on their island. But the negative is that not all of their cruises go to their island, so I guess they figure that a lesser amusement park on the ship will at least attract year-round crowds, vs the land-based park that would get huge crowds for the sailings that stop at the island...I'm sure they have or they are analyzing the profit potential here...
This is spot on... I am especially curious whether the Icon concept will also work in Europe? In recent summers we have seen 1 Oasis class ship in the Mediterranean and I don't get the feeling that they are fully occupied. I think we Europeans are less likely to be enthusiastic about the amusement park at sea. Wish you good luck with your new challenge
I think you're probably right and it's kinda of sad to me. I'm glad the company is doing well but I will miss just the joy of feeling like being on a ship. haven't been on the giant ones yet but think I'll probably prefer liberty size
You need your own Staff not Colleague’s.
Very interesting J. Royal is doing her thang!!!
Like your perspective in reporting cruise news.
R. Hunt
You could even say they stated it with the Voyager class.
I absolutely agree. Royal is trying their best to be epic. Theme park of the seas that they are.
Interesting. You seem to be on point. Well done young man.
I have to admit Royal is changing the game
Show the Golden Retriever
They have come so far since my days working as a entertainer on the Sun Viking and Song of America, amazing. Yes, I really think they are trying to out Disney Disney on the seas.
Hopefully they don't out Disney Disney on price though.
I have been saying this forever. You're just now getting this??????????? I can't listen to this.
Carnival, Carnival, Carnival, my lord what are you going to do??? I believe at this moment in time Carnival has the ball in their court, they can actually ascend along side Royal for this Theme park at sea, in which I believe is the future of cruising!!! At lease it will be a solid profitable cruise lane!!!!
I think Carnival will land somewhere between Royal and Virgin. Mainly focused on what younger adults consider fun with plenty for the kids to do. If they do it right, I believe it will be better. I'm not interested in a theme park at sea but like to splash around a bit and drink a bit.
@@robzilla69 We will find out in the not to distant future! And I am most certainly all for the Theme Park ship, my kids and there friends are all for it, it's not as if every ship has to be that, but there needs to be the option!! Carnival needs the option!!!
You’re right, you have been giving #Royal Caribbean their “props” for a minute now and they seem to be doing what they do best, outshining their competitors! You said it first!! I like your style, you do your homework!!!
Thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
Dominant great video
Disney is still the best for us Disney Adults! RC will never be able to be The Princesses and Micky Mouse! 😂😂
That’s fair
But many kids especially adults are not to fond on Disney any longer due to their child trafficking, etc.
My kids never liked Mickey mouse and when I was going to take them to Disney world prior to the trafficking knowledge they wanted to go to Coco Key again instead.
Biggest untapped profit center for Cruise industry is *'One way **-Ocean-** Heaven's gate cruise.'* Folks that are ready to take that 'BIG step' will pay up $$$, they can't take it with them! The cruise industry can take care of everything, the cleanup and even bury you at sea (for an extra charge). If I was going to off myself, I would want to do it on a cruise ship.
Maybe you should put your lil chain back inside your t shirt 👕.
