Half the time there isn't a left wing as Foden keeps disappearing into the middle of the pitch, Trippier was left far too often looking up and not having a forwards pass because there was nobody there.
@@RushfanUK this. On the one hand they complaining Southgate putting square pegs in round holes ( despite foden playing left attacker in a quarter of his league games, so he knows the role). Then it was "foden needs more support on the left hand side". He's given that with trippier. Then foden is playing with zero discipline and still getting a pass and excuses.

Southgate was talking after the match as if his game plan was to get a throw in the 94
minute, draw level with a bicycle kick and then get Tony to do an assist in injury time to score the winner and that's why he brought Tony on with seconds to go and didn't replace Bellingham sooner. The "game plan" he produced and the substitutions he produced actually lead to England not having a shot on target for 94 minutes after going 1-0 down. The whole team is unbalanced and suffocated and rescued themselves in the 94th minute despite Southgates plans not because of them.
I noticed that too - he was confidently talking about knowing his team would score last minute and that Toney would make the difference in extra time - he also explained his plan by telling the press he’d shown the players footage of ‘66 before the tournament started, and this had made the difference in securing the result. Bizarre stuff again from Southgate.

Slovakia were playing the reputation of the English, and not the actual team up against them. They went far too defensive, far too quickly. Maybe it was the nerves of playing in the last 16, but their goal proved to me that England is not up for this defensively - Slovakia played through them with ease. A braver team could've got five or six good chances, and a better team would convert a few of those chances.

I'm a Palace supporter and I support Southgate to a point but how on earth do it take to 88 minutes to put on Ivan toney, also why did he take Luke Shaw when he's been injured since February, Southgate was very close to be collecting he's P45 this morning.

I would suggest the main reason for winning is actually more down to the level of the opposition we have played which has been weak so far and not difficult to eliminate although we manage to make it incredibly difficult under Southgate.

Southgate is too busy trying to make square pegs fit in round holes, and these players are struggling to adapt and function as a good team.

Play to the strengths of the team. Pickford can't play out from the back. For Everton he hoofs it forward to DCL, let him hoof it to Toney. Foden, Palmer to pick up the knockdowns.
We have no recognised 6 (aside from Wharton), so we need to stop trying to pass it out from the back, otherwise if we want to pass it we need to change Pickford->Ramsdale and Rice->Wharton.
