I like to wake up, eat a bowl of cereal, drink some coffee, and then go for a small walk on the road behind my apartment before I sit down to write. That little walk only takes about ten minutes, but it gives me a chance to think about what i wrote the day before and what i want to write on that day.
i really love that but instead i eat cerieal and then drink a cup of hot coco i wish i could walk etc but im only 12 and stuff, 12 isnt young at all in this generation 12 years old have seen alot but not much like other people who r 20 etc
you know i take a little different walk 😅😅😅 i am a stay at home mom .. so what i do is my house chores and the cleaning and the cooking is really helping me the same way your walk help it's only 2 hours not 10 min .. it always reminds me of something Agata christy once said 😅😅😅
Recently I have decided to set a goal of writing 300 words every school day and every day I have off 1000 words and it has worked really well for me! Sometimes I miss a day but I just write it the next day then!
Hey Abbie, I just wanted to tell you something, you're an absolute inspiration , I've always wanted to write a novel and this is my first time completing the first draft of my novel "The Undecided Truth", I'm thrilled to have finished over 50k (51k actually) and I want to thank you for always teaching us the right ways to become a better writer, I am currently refining the first chapter and I spent a great month writing this fantasy sci-fi novel, I love you and we fit like puzzle pieces. much love and ATB 😭💋💋💋
I feel like celebrating your small steps is not talked about enough. Like, I'm currently editing my first book but, since I got a serious burnout with it, I decided to leave it aside for a while and that let me finish the structure of my second book just this weekend after struggling with the end since July and I'm so happy!
This November, I have been pushing forward on the last leg of my story. I see my progress when I can write faster than my test reader can absorb the material. In otherwords I read out loud and change the tone with each character's voice. I read about an hour, then I bookmark for later. Sometimes I'll ask for feed back. I know my niece likes the story and that's what matters.
Fortunately I have been able to build a habit of writing everyday. I like to keep a tracker where I write down what I wrote and when I wrote plus the date and word count and how long I wrote for and the streak that builds(over 3 months for me now!) helped me keep writing. It helped me near the end of my very first novel! Everyday I wake up, do my studies a bit and then sit to write down. Keep writing, Keep striving :) Great videos btw! I have learned a lot from your vids! Thx!
Yeah... I'm so happy. Hi Abbie and Kate.. can you do an updated series about being an indie author and dive deep into it. I'm a teen author, and I'd love more information on it.❤❤
Not doing the official NaNo, but I did harness NaNo spirit to get my first draft done. (23k words written from Sept 1-Oct 31). Finished the draft today at 102017 words (that's 79k in November). Story is a secondary world fantasy-adventure/pursuit. Second born prince has to go on the run when he became the suspect in the murder of his father. Older brother who is now king is young enough that he needs to have a regent (uncle/younger brother of the now-dead king).
I definitely struggle with number four. I've got a busy, big family and I am also a caretaker for some of them, so finding time to write is difficult, to say the least. I really appreciated all the advice you guys give in this video. I am definitely going to look for more times where I can fit in writing, especially with my family. Thanks for the advice ❤
Thank you for reminding that creativity is something not gained, but something that we're born with. This thought puts me at ease when I start to worry about not being able to imagine something. It becomes a sign that I need to relax and stay quiet a bit, not pushing myself with further stress of forced imagining)) And, Abbie, I'd really like to ask for your recipe of the cake you've made in the 1st episode of your writing vlog this November) I still dream about this cake at nights 🥰
At 12:41 when she’s talking about little kids it brought me back to this short by a UA-camr named CrazyCae, where it’s talking about humans and how they need creativity to be human.🌻🌻🌻
Not doing Nanowrimo, but I am working on my first novel. Been working on it for about a month and a half and hoping to finish by the end of this year. Your tips are always so helpful! Thanks ladies! 😊❤
Neither am I (in fact, I'm just getting started planning!) but my goal is this: given what I can decide/determine about my book before November '25, I might want to participate then!
I am using nano to establish a daily habit again, I had a really good habit but that was before Lockdown ate my soul and I gained a third child. I am using this time to flesh out several ideas that have been noodling in my head and let them start to take shape. So yeah I am letting creative winds take me where they will.
(Russian Acent) Everyone thinks you wake up a writer, eat ceral like a writer, even take dump like a writer. But there are only a few moments throughout the day a writer only has..... Wait! Where are you going? (Dead Pool) Come on, you were droning on. Someone had to take care of this giant stack of blank pages. 📝
I love thinking of a writing habit in the same way as a morning cup of coffee. I don't think I'm great at building routines or habits, but my morning cup of coffee is the exception: I always make and take time for it. How then could I make writing as important as my cup of coffee?
Thanks ladies. These tips are so helpful. I love the tip to use the little pockets of time wisely! I had a great writing routine until Novemeber 😢...think i put too much pressure on myself to hit wordcount goals and i got overwhelmed. Thanks for reminding me how i can get back into something i truly love doing.
Good afternoon, Kate and Abbie! You ladies look very nice in this vlog and thanks for giving some interesting advice. Have a wonderful day and God bless!
There are two of you. Sort of like entities that live in your body: your brain and your consciousness. When you refer to yourself, it's your conscious self. Your brain does its own thing.
Who's the ukulele player? 🙂 Road noise prompts my creative spark. No radio, 50+ MPH, free of traffic (heading out of the city), tires slapping the concrete or humming on asphalt in a mindful state of generative peaceful place. Fifteen minutes on the highway, heading toward no particular place, travelling away from it all...and I'm ready to return to the keyboards with a journey of words at my fingertips. Wandering is wondering.
for now, I am working on a 3-book series about someone I know, and I am using #NanoWrimo as a way of letting my heart speak throughout this story and series.
What do you have for tip when you have different work schedule everyday. Some days i have a 12h shift and then i don't have time or the energy to write. Some days is easier cause i start at one p.m other days i Start early but come home 7 p.m so i can't have the same time everyday. I am fortune enough to only work 4days a week but still it s hard to find some kind of routine. When also dealing whit a house and two kids.
I’m having trouble writing half of my stories plot , I feel like I have no ideas and don’t know how to get the ideas flowing of what can happen next . Any tips?
is there any advice for those with adhd and completely lack the ability to form habits, its impossible to form habits i have to actively think about it and work in order to keep it up and if anything happens to dely it even just once im suddenly cometely unable to do it and can never remember doing it and at times i cant remember doing it previously as if i never did it at all

I find it so hard with a 40-50 Hour job to reach writing goals, because I am on my feet and then come home exhausted. Want to write but my brain is over working for that day. 😢
Hi!! I think that Nanowrimo is good for first drafts. First drafts are nice for overwriting, and to just go on tangents and go where the fancy takes you. Further drafts can be way more conservative, with smaller word counts and just taking your time and stuff. But I think first drafts are made to be indulgent.
POV: you already finished NaNo six days ago. . .😂🤣 Yes, I finished, but THAT’S NOT GOOD because now I have to EDIT IT, and editing actually destroys my soul. I tried earlier this morning and practically died. 😰😰😰😭😭😭

I'm telling the tale of a swordsman who must face a Dark Sorceress, who turns out to be his long lost sister.
Family reunions can be so much fun.

I have typed nearly 120K Words in the past 23 days of NaNoWriMo. Just over 30K Words until I hit my goal! (My brain is fired, but I’m still pushing!)
Thanks for your inspiration, Abbie! I've finished the first 1,500 words of my novel. Now only about 78,500 to go. 😅

Excellent points for writers. Love it. Thank you, Kate and Abbie.

Genuine appreciation for the pragmatic, sensible, and inspirational advice. 🌹🌹🙏🙏
Nice episode ladies, enjoy your conversation. I usually write midday. 0430, I am not all that creative. Maybe after I retire. 😊

We're nearing the end of November. Time does fly.

61 days to cement it into the brain

If you do enough planning, 50K words in November could be super easy!
watching this with my morning cup of coffee ☕️ 😄
thank you very much for your videos ❤️ they help me so much with my writing🥹

Congratulations on finishing!!! Good luck with your edit!!
@@BlackFiresongthank you so much!❤️ how is your writing go along, if I may ask?
Any monkey can "win" NaNoWriMo, it's just a matter of writing "Banana" 50k times. Now writing something that's worth reading, that's hard.
I have 3 kids and I wanna be an author. How?
I’m also a firefighter.
Wait until they all leave the nest
