Hello Will!! The worst things that a manufacturers can do its blame to other for their bad manufacturing process, it’s clear that the cable wasn’t peal off with the reciprocal saw, and that explanation of the BMS is totally ridiculous, excuses are for them, obviously I would not buy a battery like that

Some SCAMMER just posted a reply to my above comment trying to get me to pay for shipping for a FREE LifP04 battery ,,, except he couldn't answer a couple key questions like your cats name or the mutual hobby we have collecting certain toys from that certain Store in Vegas where I got my HK I showed you on Instagram
The defensive reaction of the doctors is a red flag in itself. They should have been glad for the feedback to improve their product. Losers.
It is not their product truly. It is just labeled with their name. Dr. Prepare sells a lot of junk of Amazon with only one item be close or related to batteries. This one.
HAHA - perfect example of how a company should stfu and not try to call Will a liar. The company is too stupid to realize that Will's first review would put many people off, but many might still buy it - HOWEVER, them coming back with an email where they lie about a bunch of stuff will make everyone realize this company can't be trusted AT ALL.
The jackasses could have earned the Will Prowse stamp of approval. They chose the kiss of death.
It wouldn't be the first time management sets a bunch of rules that are never applied by the people doing the actual work. That's what happens when your hiring criteria is who is cheapest.

I'm pretty sure they KNOW they screwed up, they just don't want to admit it. YOU bought it, YOUR problem. It's a typical B2C relationship for Chinese companies, probably also the only reason how they can keep producing at such low cost.
I do buy cheap Chinese products from time to time and I recognize this behavior all the time. But it's also the reason why I wouldn't spend over $100 on a Chinese product without local support and warranty.
They're clueless because they want to be.

I worked with a guy at an aircraft company that told me how he worked for some small camera company previously. He mentioned how they basically stole designs and changed components and wiring so that they could sell it for cheaper.
They would send him out and fix the cameras that would run away and break the parts when panning. So he decided to look into it and found out that there were some components that needed to be replaced and it fixed it. He was reprimanded for it. “Don’t you ever fix or change anything ! Replace it with a new one and bill them!”
Well once he figured it out he left. Eventually the owners were sued and he showed me the news article.
You can assume whoever this seller is , doesn’t understand everything and is trying a “new design” based off of someone else’s work.
I love Will's reviews. Especially when it's for a bad product. Ruthless entertainment.

It was a huge P.R. mistake not to reach out to you directly about your concerns. Your two criticisms of the temp sensors are easy and inexpensive fixes for future shipments, and they could have scored big with a "thumb's up" from your channel for "fixing the problems". Recommendations of products by you have a tendency to outstrip supply - they could have sold a boatload. Clearly they don't understand their market.
You're right because this company is a scam...not interested in doing what's right...

Merry Christmas Will, and good job on the factual breakdown of errors by the manufacturer. I would have waited to see if they made corrections to their product, but given the letter response I won't even be interested in that company at all.
To make corrections would have amounted to being wrong and that would lose face and cost them to do it. Words are cheap, lies even cheaper but that is the culture and lying to save face is their way. Honour is not. Remember that when buying something because you will be supporting the company and its morals. Price isn't everything especially when it's low quality and dangerous.
I have my popcorn ready for part 3 where the vendor replies to the points that you mention in part 2 😂
That's a dangerous company. The shoddy way the battery was assembled and the apparent ignorance of the assembler makes me think that other mistakes are also made and buying one of these is just rolling the dice with all ones. I love how you handle these types of issues Will. It's impressive to watch. I can't blame you when the truth is in their face and they can't even recognize the simple issues you properly addressed. Instead they fight back with lies and nonsense. And then post saying you used a chainsaw to dismember it. I wonder if they understand what the unit would look like had you used an actual chainsaw. customer service people make me laugh .
If Will came out with an "open batteries with chainsaws" channel I'd watch!
What that company should do is compensate Will for his accurate evaluation or at the very least thank him. Thank you for taking the time to do the work you do Will and helping so many of us. You're so articulate and convincing.
The mark of a well managed company is that it admits mistakes, takes steps to compensate current owners, provides a pathway to improvements and then makes those improvements, in an open, transparent manner. This "response" to Mr. Prowse is completely unacceptable. And thank you Mr. Prowse for providing a follow-up with a specific photo of the damaged part and the lacking safety temperature sensor.
The irony is that properly assembling the battery, with proper temperature sensors, would have changed the manufactured price very little, and its price point in the market would be changed very little.

You backup your reviews with facts, not with unsubstantiated supposition. I believe this is a prime example of why you have such a high credibility which is reflected by your subscriber count.
I laughed when you said in the first video that you showed the damaged wire so that you wouldn’t later be accused of cutting the wire … mainly because I think we all knew someone still would. Didn’t expect it to be the company itself though lol
Once again not only does Will step to the plate he knock it out of the park-why-because he can. Personally speaking, his first review of this battery said it all-it was concise, and forthcoming with no subterfuge. This “Part 2” review serves to corroborate, due to their response (and will someone’s PLEASE mail them a Chinese-English Grammar Dictionary), that Dr. Prepare cares more about guarding their mistakes with disinformation rather than correcting and learning from them. I’m standing in applause Will Prowse!

I am new to the solar power world and am making my way through your videos. Thanks for all your advice to us “newbies”, who don’t have your knowledge and experience. I knew from the excitement in your voice at the beginning of the video that it was going to be a good one. Shame on the company for trying to deflect the blame back on you. They obviously have no concept of public relations and damage control. They should have just said that they appreciated your bringing the problems to their attention and that they will immediately look into their assembly processes and make any changes that are necessary. I refuse to buy anything from a company that takes such a cavalier attitude toward their products and customers.
Thank you for going great lengths and being very thorough with your reviews of this particular battery for your subscribers. Another channel reviewed this same exact battery a couple days before you and came to a very different conclusion and opted not to open up the battery to do a proper inspection. Thank you for keeping your subscribers in mind before making a profit. Many more people will naturally flock to your channel because of this!
It's hard because a company claims to have certain specs like "low temp cutoff" and then you find out they lied about it. Hobotech was lied to by this company.... it's not his fault. He could have tested low temp charging by freezing the battery and trying to charge it but he didn't so.... That was a mistake. (no tear down needed).
They have since removed low temp protection from their website. I have one of these batteries for review on my channel as well. Debating how I want to showcase the low temp cutoff not working and how it can damage the capacity / battery.

Love your attitude towards these morons and scammers that try to sell terrible products. How do they literally go into the business of building these batteries **without even understanding how they work**?!?!
Great work Will It was good to see the feedback back and forth. The tried to defend their product, but it seems what was delivered was not was originally designed. That can be for many reasons, but as others have said, they are missing an opportunity for constructive criticism, which any company who cares about its future should value. Perhaps they do not and just have inventory to dump.
Great that we have Will and others opened up the manufactured batteries and give a fair review on their goods and flaws. That way, the manufacturers will pay more attention on the quality of their products as well as being able see what are the best against theirs for improvement to stay competitive. I'd be interested in seeing a cell charging/discharging test at 0c, with a capacity test after every cycle. Would be interesting to see how badly a cell is damaged when cycled at freezing temperatures.
I really think it would be in your best interest to get a knee mill like a bridgeport rather than using various hand and power tools to open up battery cases. I am pretty sure you could afford a good used one. The disassemblies would be much more controlled and would keep companies from claiming you damaged their battery because you hacked it open with a chainsaw.

Thank you for calling out these overseas sellers. This is always been the type of experience I've gotten through eBay thank God for Amazon. I love the fact that with Amazon even though it takes quite a few phone calls they normally and for the most part hold them accountable unlike eBay.

After watching a competitive video review before Will's first part one video came out, I placed an order for a Dr. Prepare battery. Great price! However I really need the low temperature protection as I plan on doing some winter camping... As a result of Will's review I realized I had made a mistake and immediately tried to cancel the order. Too late! it had already shipped. I notified the Dr. Prepare company that I would like to return the battery for credit. I had no problem doing so although the responses were a little slow it all has worked out. After receiving the battery I did not open it and requested a prepaid return label which was supplied. I tracked the return and after about 6 days after they received the battery they applied a full credit to my PayPal account. Lesson learned...

I appreciate the patient methods you use in each video and the science behind each of your suggestions to improve products. They tried to be the smartest person in the room , they failed. Re the metric screws I worked at Marconi Instruments (English Eletric) St Albans UK, in the 1960/70s when we UK went metric the first projects were test gear for NASA on I think was a automatic test equipment that tested the up/down coms systems for the Moon shots. I believe all the measurements and nuts and bolts were in metric for our test equipment.
It's far easer to use metric than imperial measurements, it also makes your exported equipment easer to use and repair around the world as most of the world uses metric.

Unfortunately I think these start up companies that don't make much of anything and brand something as their product don't really have a clue about what they are selling. Something I've noticed about all of these Chinese vendors is that they seem to change their brand names all the time. But I'll bet most of these 'newer' vendors are actually the same old vendors whos products previously failed. I see the same thing in the security camera market... there are only a handful of actual OEMs and builders, but dozens and dozens of brands.
Ultimately, though, I think channels like yours do slowly force all of these fly-by-night vendors to up their game. Slowly but surely. And that benefits everyone.

Looks like there is a newer version of the battery, that has corrected many of the issues that were of a concern and might deserve another look. The price is under $400, which some users might find attractive.
The hope is that they learn and make a better battery and not continue to try to deceive people

I have one of those batteries and it works fine for my uses. I have emailed support at dr prepare with some questions on a few occasions never got a reply back.
