That is loud, and I think it equals up to 92 Squadron's safety valves releasing while at Grosmont on the NYMR at the 2018 steam Gala on the Friday. (And that was deafening!)
WOW doesn't she sounds so proud of herself ! wonderful ! I'm guessing they have to release the pressure in the boiler when she is not under load ? thanks for posting :o)
Starting at around 1:50... Can someone tell me why the beats of the exhaust are not even? There's a kind of a 1*234 beat where the * asterisk represents a mini pause. As a musician this intrigues me and I'd like to know the mechanical explanation. :) Thanks for the video btw.
IN 1968 I WAS ON THE BELFAST BOAT EXPRES BEHIND 45342 WITH A LIKEWISE UNEVEN BEAT. PERHAPS THE STEAM VERSION OF THE LANDLER DANCE. I can not travel far having lost my left leg and foot below the knee in early 2016 and now lost the right leg and foot from above the knee, due to hereditary problems.
At a long cut-off any irregularity in the beat would surely be minimised because the valve travel is at its maximum. I would think that as the driver notches up the irregularity would get worse. Valve setting is an awkward fiddly business so the staff probably thought "close enough for jazz" as we say.
Love the noise. Haven’t heard a black 5 bark like that since 45110 at the end of its ticket in 2008.
That echo is brilliant! Usual black five. Great acceleration.
That lady is 75 years old and has earned the right to show off a bit; lovely!
It was bound chug a bit... it is going straight into Shenfield Bank. It's quite an incline.

Awesome! Thanks for the upload :)
I knew that Henry could pull the Express! He does it even better than Gordon!
whoa that is loud. :3 love the black 5s
Bloody hell that enough to make your hair stand on end :P lol

The safety valves will lift when steam pressure reaches its optimum pressure automatically.
She’s got some real grunt to her
Heavy man!

Steve Jones the mechanical reason is that it's not set up right! The beats should be even, the valve timing on this engine isn't quite right.
Thanks!

It could be valve timing but also when starting the cut off is very long so it could be a factor too

Wasn’t this one painted green?
That is my dream train to drive
Is it me or does the smoke appear to be blue in color?
It could be. When it's blue it means there's too little coal to air. This looks like that here.
Henry!
Godd👍
Giving the Brit a run for it’s money 😉
Joli. Le seul moyen est Essex?
Joyeux Noel au Roi et au Chateau 🎄
