SAMOENG, THAILAND (สะเมิง) - Welcome to Samoeng, within the mountains just outside of the city of Chiang Mai. This is one of the most famous strawberry growing regions of Thailand - because of its fertile mountain soil.
You’ve probably eaten strawberries, or had strawberries in a dessert or smoothie… but have you ever had a spicy strawberry salad, or strawberry soup - strawberry tom yum? Today we are having a full Thai food meal, but everything containing strawberries. It’s going to be a unique and interesting meal for sure.
I love the way Thais are able to use fruits at every stage and use fruits within salty food to balance flavors.
This was a delicious meal, all full of strawberries. I especially enjoyed the pounded strawberry spicy salad and the strawberry tom yum.

I can eat so many strawberries in one sitting! This totally made me curious. Perhaps if the strawberry was unripe, I can maybe see it in savory dishes like papaya and mangos. It's hard to imagine red ripe strawberries in savory dishes. I can only see it in desserts or by itself but hopefully one day I can try this! Thanks for the new intro to strawberries in this way!

But if you think about it in the context of “strawberry and balsamic” as a flavour combo, I can imagine how strawberry and something like fish sauce could work together.
I have had strawberry salsa and it was good, just different…I fear you may have left hungry but I bet it was quite different! Thank you for sharing!

I think the spicy strawberry dish looked so delicious and balanced! I love strawberries with feta,alot of cracked pepper, olive oil,red wine vinegar and olives and pumpkin or sunflower seeds...sometimes I mix it in salad greens,but it's so delicious as is as well. I never would have thought to add it to rice or in soup! Very inspiring. Now I'm thinking about a roasted red pepper and strawberry cream soup....the strawberry would have to be on the green side.

I've had a Strawberry Som Tam in Queens before at my favorite Thai place that is no longer around, Zabb Elee. It was magical.
this is very interesting! if you come to cameron highlands, you can even try out the newly created strawberry nasi lemak. there is also a sambal made from strawberry in indonesia as well. do visit all the strawberry farms all around the world and pluck some of them.

Has anyone else been to the "House of Strawberries" restaurant that was near Hershey Park in Pennsylvania in the 1980s/90s? Every year my family went on a summer vacation and one of the places we went was Hershey Park, we always went to this restaurant during our visit there. It was like fine dining with everything with strawberries, I remember cream of strawberry soup with a heart shaped piece of pink strawberry butter on top, strawberry infused bread rolls and strawberry infused jam, salads with fresh strawberries added and strawberries in the dressing, and filet mignon with strawberry butter! I loved that place as much as the water slides and roller coasters at the park, it was one of the highlights of my childhood summer vacations! I searched for that strawberry variety you ate and it's called Praratchatan No.80 and there are scientific studies about it on science sites, if anyone cannot understand what you are saying.

That's a little overboard on the strawberries. I know they got a strawberry farm but that doesn't mean they have to throw strawberries in every dish. Great video!
I’ve noticed strawberries that are very red in the center when you cut them open are the sweetest the ones that are whit in the center are sour.
