This takes me back. Think most of the tippers were Volvo FH10 or FH12. Loved a Friday when drivers finished early. They would come in for wheel change. Jacking bottle jack, blasting wheels of with 1" drive air gun, placing wheel on studs with two big tyre levers, then zapping them back up then torque wheels. Most tipper drivers would give me lift home, they would blast air horn when leaving. The whole street knew I was finished. Best memories ever😁
Great video. Not an easy job to do especially when it’s cold. One piece of advice, protect your eyes when using the wire brush on a drill. If one of those strands of wire break off and hit you in the eye your trucking career will be over. It worth protecting your eyes and lungs. You should have been thought those safety requirements when servicing breaks. Keep the videos coming 👍
It’s very easy to say you should have done this and done that when you’re working out of a van on site it’s not easy having everything for every job totally different if your in a fully equipped workshop.Well done great job 👍
Greetings from Scotland! Oh NO! Somebody let Lena loose on a truck repair again!!! 🤣🤣 Just kidding Lena, just kidding! Don't you think that Volvo's brake pad replacement procedure is elegantly simple compared to many others? I think that's about as straightforward as it gets! "Who put that bar there!" Hee hee! If you keep this heavy work up you'll develop muscles in places you haven't got yet Lena! 😳 Take care of your back though, after a bad injury it's never the same again and always prone to damage. I damaged my knees and back many times when I was an apprentice HGV mechanic and I now wish I could go back and avoid that! Many years of endless pain is a good teacher! But teaches too late! I would have loved to have you as one of my apprentices back in the day Lena, I reckon you would make a first class mechanic with good training! You never give up and get it done! Bravo! I love at the end where you say "DONE!" Buuut, what about the other side, then the other 3 axles! 😂😂 I remember fleet servicing and oh my God! it seemed endless sometimes! I know hubby will know what I mean? I'm very glad I don't do ANY mechanics anymore, not even my car! Arthritis and old age takes the fun out of it! Спасибо за видео Лена. Удачных выходных, ребята!
Haha wow amazing comment teaches me a lot plus a lot of compliment. Wish i was ur apprentice too!!stupid bar on the way!! Ah yes hubby finished the other side whilst i started editing the vid for you :))))
Hi Lena this is not the first time you have replaced truck brake pads not sure if it was the Volvo or Renault you changed before , still under supervision , do they not trust you to do the job right!!
Last one was Renault. This is my second time doing it ever lol is not my full time job I’m just trying to learn bits from my husband for when I’m out tramping in my own truck next year ;0
Lena I'm a Landrover Mechanic by trade and in the transition of becoming a HGV 1 driver, just wanted to ask as I was watching we always use jack stands in our shop absolutely never rely on hydraulic bottle jacks alone a Discovery or Defender could easily kill a person, I think a truck of that weight would seriously pancake you in seconds please ask for jack stands that are rated to take well over the weight of the vehicle you only get one life.
Hi, Lena. The bottle jack lifting capacity is barely sufficient..For safety reason, please use larger capacity jack lift, that suitable for heavy truck. At the same time, use jack stand/ something stable to rest the chassis on it, while support by jack lift. Jack lift is not meant to support heavy load alone, because hydraulic seal might give way & leak pressure, causing vehicle to fall. As always, enjoy your work & stay safe..
Good luck with the purchase of the truck. I’m also aiming to achieve this goal! Hopefully within the next 2-3 years. Need a 4/5 bed family house first 😂
Omg!! Duude I was soo star struck meeting you :)) didn’t even think you’ll be there as I heard you were in Peterborough one already 🥳🥳 just made my day!! 8 mins into my video I’m like right we done here I literally don’t need to see anything els around here ☺️ ah yes I know the struggle we only just got onto property ladder ourselves. Viewed 8-27-21 3:57 PM from USA Hi Lena WOW you go from a room painter to diesel mechanic you are quite the woman . From safety point of view.....you had your feet under the wheel-brake assembly, if the jack failed or slipped out from the frame you be in a big problem, always think SAFETY first.....am I in any kind of danger??? :-))))
Extremely talented woman Lena best way to describe you. What you should have done was put the lorry on a set of break rollers to test breaks then you should have road tested the lorry 🚛 then retorque the wheel. Otherwise job well done Lena good on you Pal. 👍
Enjoyed the vid but not the music. A bit overpowering. As to safety you surely need an axle stand especially when wheel is off. Getting crushed under a truck will not be fun!
Jack should have been put on a solid piece of wood and, a second solid support should have been used as well. If it slips from under the axel and you are in the wheel well, your dead. My preference would be to put wheel nuts on cardboard or so.
I had no idea you were Russian until I saw one of your other videos. I thought you had a bit of a twang in the accent but you have really absorbed a British accent. Although the name Lena should have given it away, and you kind of look Russian . Love to go for a spin with you, you seem a very interesting person.
