if you put the ignition on and the diff lock in you can remove the half shaft and the diff lock mech will stay in place so you can re fit the half shaft again also depends which side the diff lock locks up .
Just an observation , do you need to top the diff up with oil after this job as you loose some oil when you strip it down ? and speaking as a driver, pet hate thing, keep the good wheel on the outside and the scabby one on the inside, but seeing as this a bin lorry these drivers dont give a toss, much like daily checks,. Good job that and great work ethic, cheers ,.
I worked for CPD when they got the contract for South Kesteven DC in Grantham and I'm surprised Phillip bought you new boots 😆. Is the build quality of the wiring still as bad on the bodies?
Have Mercedes dropped the re-torque after a 30 minute wait? We had a system at work where red indicators were fitted in place of the yellow ones to signify that the wheels had been off, the driver would then re-torque after the first day and then fit the yellow indicators.
So much for your walk round checks ???? but that invoice should be sent to the company that last fitted the wheels ? ie some Miky Mouse Tyre Company well most are though, most probley put on with an air gun, If wheels are fitted corectly they Never Come Loose.

Lucky the wheel.s were not oval as well. Most of the time they will be knackered. Been there on a merc concrete mixer.

Any idea what caused it to come loose? Looks like it might have been loose for a while
