What’s the movie Forrest Gump about?
Stupid is as stupid does, says Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-winning performance) as he discusses his relative level of intelligence with a stranger while waiting for a bus. Despite his sub-normal IQ, Gump leads a truly charmed life, with a ringside seat for many of the most memorable events of the second half of the 20th century. Entirely without trying, Forrest teaches Elvis Presley to dance, becomes a football star, meets John F. Kennedy, serves with honor in Vietnam, meets Lyndon Johnson, speaks at an anti-war rally at the Washington Monument, hangs out with the Yippies, defeats the Chinese national team in table tennis, meets Richard Nixon, discovers the break-in at the Watergate, opens a profitable shrimping business, becomes an original investor in Apple Computers, and decides to run back and forth across the country for several years. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny (Robin Wright Penn), the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and 1970s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon. Featured alongside Tom Hanks are Sally Field as Forrest's mother, Gary Sinise as his commanding officer in Vietnam, Mykelti Williamson as his ill-fated Army buddy who is familiar with every recipe that involves shrimp, and the special effects artists whose digital magic place Forrest amidst a remarkable array of historical events and people.

The lady at the end is the best. She decided to stay a little longer, seeing that Forrest needed someone to talk to. That's beautiful.
If Forrest's mother were still alive, Jenny would have been hit by a double-barreled shotgun when she came to his house.
She was so moved from his story.
And she told Forrest how to get to Jenny's more quickly, it was great she stayed
Some times we just need some one to listen .
One day a son will lose his Mama, no matter how or when. It will weigh heavy on a heart. That love will last forever.
Far far better than a mama losing her son. Hope one day no one loses no one.
@@ipdharwad we are all heading to it......may God love us as we are.
@@ipdharwad "Hope one day no one loses no one." Well said
For me the hardest to lose was my father,
@@jdorffer are you a man or a woman? I feel like boys usually love their moms more and girls love their dads more
"We sure got you straightened out, didn't we boy?"
That moment always warms my heart.
Amazing movie but incredibly sad... his best friend dies on a beach, his mom dies, he finally gets Jenny and she dies. But he gets his kid at the end and its even the same bus driver chewing gum not smoking
@Toboe That's true that it's all sad that everyone who Forrest loved and cared for died except for Lieutenant Dan. I can only hope that Lieutenant Dan became Forrest Jr.'s godfather. If Bubba was still alive, maybe he would have agreed to be Forrest Jr.'s godfather and if he was, he (Bubba) would have trained Forrest Jr. on how to be a shrimp boat captain.
@@afriendofbean in
@@afriendofbean Even Lt Dan almost died in Vietnam. But Forrest saved him. Dan preferred to died with honour because he think that was his destiny.
@@shahrulamar5358 That's right, Lt. Dan told Forrest it was his destiny to die in the woods with honor which is why he told Forrest to just leave him there when maybe he (Forrest) was thinking Dan was just saying "run, save yourself" which is what a person would say when there's danger to make sure the other is well protected when Forrest was thinking "no, I won't leave without you, I'm getting you out of danger." Unfortunately for Dan, he got angered by Forrest that he didn't get his destiny and became an alive cripple having difficulty getting around without legs. At least at the end Dan got to have some kind of metal legs at the end and was going to get married himself when he introduced his fiancee to Forrest.
@@afriendofbean Yes. He comes from military family with some members of his family killed in the battlefield at the big wars.
His mother’s outlook on life was amazing! Nothing like a loving mother!
Your mother sure does care about your schooling
She's a sweet lady, but personally I find her 'outlook' rather inconsistent. She says everyone is destined to die and she was unwittingly destined to be Forrest's mama, two examples of destiny being outside our control. Then she does a 180 by saying you make your own destiny. Then she completes the full 360 with the 'box of chocolates' analogy. It's basically "you can't control fate, actually yes you can, actually no you can't". I feel they took a collectively contradictory set of proverbs which make for wholesome individual soundbites but a rather conflicted and unrealistic character when one person says all of them consecutively.
@@mangoman2148 i know what this is like because i lost my mom too
@@thespecter5164yes me to i took care of her in last 6months of her life in 2018 was Horrible brutal Cancer UGH UGH UGH UGH
I love when Forrest asks his mom what his destiny is and she simply says, "Your going to have to figure that out for yourself."
Forrests mom was always able to answer any question forest had and explain it to him so that it made sense but in the end the one question Forrest and I think all of us have asked before "What's my destiny." she can't answer because that is not her road to travel on it's her son's road. It's beautiful because it shows his moms humanity and and as t for the first time in his life Forrest is going to have to walk a new part of life without his mother to be there to guide him.
The fact she accept she was going to die is so sad.
We all will. We just have to accept it.
Thts the least sad part
@@urbanobstacles The thing that's even more sad was that Forrest's mom was dead and wasn't at the wedding to see him get married. Not even Forrest's best friend Bubba was there since Bubba died also.
no its not
Just like what she said death is just a part of life
the way she says "Im dyin, Forrest." So blunt, so real, yet so tragic. Not much worse.
this lady who listens to him is really the mvp
This scene always makes me cry.
@Hikamaru 💋🤤 Your from one of those contrys that god forgot right? So sorry for you
I think the saddest part is his moms death…. Out of everybody she loved him, protected him, supported him, and never abandoned him. Aside from Bubba everybody was using him to a certain extent. His mom dying was the start of him being really Alone in the world, had Jenny not had little Forrest would she even be with Forrest??? 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
the baby changed her life.. she knew she had to get her act together so she wouldn't neglect forrest jr like everyone neglected her as a child. she wanted a good father for him so he wouldn't go through the same thing so she stayed with him
What about the drill sergeant
@@ElijahCinco51484 and Lt. Dan as well.
@@JBrander Exactly. He could have kept the Apple stock money for himself. Forrest thought it was some fruit company...simple Forrest...Lt. Dan could have cheated him, but didn't.
Don't forget Lieutenant Dan. He was the one who invested and was able to let gump mow grass for free
I was sobbing my heart out watching this as a child this film is so relatable, Forest was a good man, a war hero, veteran, an owner of a million dollar company , what he lacks in intelligence he more than makes up for it with being a loyal friend & good son anyone would be blessed to have Forrest as a friend ❤️
I felt this in my bones. I would rather it be me than my mom.
But that would leave your mom alone with a heavy heart.
But your mom would rather it be her than you.
We all wished that we can together with our family, you wish that you can die together with your dog, your dad, your mama, grandparents, uncles/aunts and your siblings, yet you already know you would be the last one alive with a heavy burden in your heart.
cherish with all of your loved ones while you still can. ❤
This movie is outstanding, especially because it conveys very basic but relatable values about life: be decent, honest, loyal, hard worker and a family person, and you’ll be able to overcome most obstacles in life, no matter how hard they may be. Forrest embodied those values. Jenny only found happiness and fulfillment once she understood them and tried her best to live up for those values. The film deserves all the praises. We wouldn’t be able to get something like that in our current times, in which cynicism, resentment and constant anger are the norm.
Ever noticed both of the most important ladies in his life died in the same room
I saw this movie just a few days after my mother's death. To see Forrest's mother sitting up in bed talking to him as my mother had sat up in bed to talking to me stirred many emotions.
this hits me hard cause my mom passed away in january this year, she was 58, i miss her so much and i cry over her.
My condolences!!! Mines died 17 years ago and I’m still not the same 😢
Lieutenant Dan alone on the boat after Forrest jumped in the water 👈👁👄👁🤌🦽
😂😂😂
2:11 Life is a box of chocolates, Forrest. You never know what you’re gonna get.
Forrest gump loved his momma. He said, goodbye to his momma.
This 19 june ill be a month since my mom passed away... It's still hard to believe for me she's gone
Im sorry for your loss. I lost my mother also and it's very hard.
Sorry about your loss
2:55 Forrest's bashful smile when the old lady decided to listen a while longer. The topic of conversation was old ladies after all.
He swam with his cap on.
Hes forrest ,of course he swam with that
A man doesn’t go anywhere without covering his head.
God when I was younger watching this movie for the first time, I had to stop watching it during this scene cuz I was crying so bad. I was just thinking about my mom and how sad I’d be if I lost her. Eventually I tried watching the movie again like a decade later and was crying a lot again during this part but pushed myself through it. Love your parents while they’re still here. I still have my parents thankfully but no longer live with them and I miss them every day and wish I was younger again just to be there with them
The best acting Sally fields has ever done.
Although this is pure fiction, we can always use a friend. That woman stayed and listened, as any friend would do.
Forrest Gump is my favorite movie but I can no longer watch it now that my mother is severely Ill at 54 with a severe condition and my grandmother having Alzheimer’s at the same time. This scene breaks me but I watch it just to appreciate and love them while I’m blessed enough to have them and try to enjoy the time I have and value every second I have with them. I hate watching this scene but I have to value the people who have raised me and given me a chance of life.
The fact that the lady wanted to stay and here the rest of his life story
Who wouldn’t?
I don't know about anyone else
But this hurt more than Jenny's death.
He didn't say much about this, but you could hear it in his voice
Jenny was a bad person. She never really cared about Forrest. I think his mother's death was sadder for most people.
This scene of Forrest Gump when he did went home to go see his mom and she said to him that she's dying because she has cancer in her throat or in her chest I can't remember and when I watch this scene it makes me feel like I wanna cry so bad when I see Forrest Gump crying for his mom,his wife Jenny & his bestfriend Bubba 😭☹😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭☹
Very powerful scene. You did good mama. Gets me every time.
"I'm dying" Not something I could ever hear from my mother.
Neither will I. My mother has dementia now and doesn't know who I am, though once in a while, she'd call me by my name.
@@tomsd8656 I'm sorry you're dealing with that and I hope the best for you. I made this comment back in April of 2023. I lost my mother to alcohol related issues on July 26, 2023.
Why are you dying mama?
Damn, i cant
The beautiful movie .
One of the best ever English movie i have watched 👍
This movie gives life lessons
All the actors and actresses was good in this movie !
Sally Fields and Tom Hanks were in a movie together in 1986 called Punchline. In that movie she was a potential love interest for him. Six years later they are both in the movie Forrest Gump - and now she is playing his mother. They are both Oscar-winning actors. Hollywood has a bad history of providing good roles for female actors as they grow older.
You meant eight years later.
We always laugh when the doctor says ""We sure straightened you out, boy"
2:21 😢TEARS !
Such a beautiful movie of tom hanks
You did good mama! 🙁
An amazing detail is she appears so strong and resolved for Forest but there are used tissue papers and a Kleenex box on the bed telling a different story
2:21 l will miss you Forest 😭🥺
It is a sad film but educational I think.
That was an ode to greatness at the end. A wonderful spirit who simply wanted to hear wonderful peace from pure heart.
This scene was a sad thing for me when I watched the movie as a child. Now as an adult and having lost my mom this scene makes this movie unbearable for me to watch.
Definitely the saddest part forest had an amazing mother
R.I.P. Mrs. Gump. Died too soon of cancer. 😢
I happened to believe that Mama Gump was tougher than Forrest ,she just turn out to be his Momma!
Sally Field is a great actress.
In her prime she was smoking hot
I had a crush on her since Smokey and the Bandit
Yeah me and my mother don't see eye to eye but my reaction would be the same
Forrest Gump was a good man. Hard to believe he lived in one of the oldest house in Alabama
When he jumped, he didn't have the baggage with him; did he?
No
I always hate when shit like that happens Lol
My headcanon is that Lt. Dan yelled at him to get on the boat because it's faster before Forrest swam too far
Forrest probably had a suitcase in one of his warehouses.
Probably had luggage on the mainland where his boat is docked. Lol
First his father's fate is unknown and now his mom's going to kick the bucket
フォレストほんまに優しい……写真映り悪いけど(笑)
forrest doesn't play around with wasting any time
if you go miss someone if they go to abother country i think it's a million times more if they're dead. thankfully heaven is real idk what it's gonna be like there. will you still have family, will you still have a husband or wife or kid? but you'll see them there...
Imagine ruining this beautiful moment with dialogues like Golgappe and Bollywood still wonders why people don't watch their movies anymore
"I didn't know it, but I was destined to be your mama. I did the best I could."
"Well you did good, mama."
Brings a tear to a glass eye
What a movie 👏🏻
This made me cry 😢😢😢
Pretty sure I know how to chop onions by now... what's going on.
"We sure got you straightened out, didn't we, boy?" What's this WE s***?
Maybe you'll listen Forrest
I have a cavity
My eye is going numb.
Sally Field is Amazing
I love how it’s the same Dr. Who worked on Forrest’s legs
Forrest: What's my destiny, Mama?
Mama Gump: You gotta figure it out for yourself.
Life's like a 📦 box of 🍫 chocolates, Forrest; you never know what you're gonna get.
Forrest (narrating): Mama always had been explaining things so I could understand them.
Mama Gump: I will miss you, Forrest.
Forrest (narrating): She's got the cancer ♋ and died on a Tuesday.
I've brought her a 👒 hat with alot of flowers 💐 on it. And that's all I have to say about that.
What a 😥 sad scene that Forrest's mama is gone.
It's almost as if you watched the video just like everyone else
The greatest film ever incredible piece of film
She might be but society is sicker without question
I'm so sorry Mama
This shit hurts fuckkk
Does anyone els notice the camera shaking in this scene
Sam did you bailing on my window
„Aah Yo Momma sure does care about ya schoolin‘ son! hmm hm hm hm…
Why is Forrest carrying a suitcase? Did he pick one up after swimming?
Hollywood's magic ! It appears in his hands while he was running to his mom !
Uma das melhores cenas da história ❤❤
This movie ❤❤
Life has the flavors on top of the box?
On the back of chocolate boxes there is information on the content of all chocolates. Too bad Forrests mother didn't know that, would've saved her from chocolate shock!
Shit got me 😢
That's all I have to say about thatttttttttttttttttt
The insinuations of what his upbringing were was that his mama made a living taking care of him. Now? It is called what? His mama slept with men to make a living. Why is that so delicate in light of the fact that is all she could do?
Trop jolie scene
It's a movie.
