What’s the movie Forrest Gump about?
Stupid is as stupid does, says Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks in an Oscar-winning performance) as he discusses his relative level of intelligence with a stranger while waiting for a bus. Despite his sub-normal IQ, Gump leads a truly charmed life, with a ringside seat for many of the most memorable events of the second half of the 20th century. Entirely without trying, Forrest teaches Elvis Presley to dance, becomes a football star, meets John F. Kennedy, serves with honor in Vietnam, meets Lyndon Johnson, speaks at an anti-war rally at the Washington Monument, hangs out with the Yippies, defeats the Chinese national team in table tennis, meets Richard Nixon, discovers the break-in at the Watergate, opens a profitable shrimping business, becomes an original investor in Apple Computers, and decides to run back and forth across the country for several years. Meanwhile, as the remarkable parade of his life goes by, Forrest never forgets Jenny (Robin Wright Penn), the girl he loved as a boy, who makes her own journey through the turbulence of the 1960s and 1970s that is far more troubled than the path Forrest happens upon. Featured alongside Tom Hanks are Sally Field as Forrest's mother, Gary Sinise as his commanding officer in Vietnam, Mykelti Williamson as his ill-fated Army buddy who is familiar with every recipe that involves shrimp, and the special effects artists whose digital magic place Forrest amidst a remarkable array of historical events and people.

Forrest was smart af....a genius that rubbed everybody the wrong way. He awkwardly spoke facts and I loved it 🤩 U can say what u want about him but he loved his mama, graduated from high school, went to college and the army, he was loyal to Jenny & Bubba, he wasnt broke, he had his own business and home, traveled around the world even on foot, never disrespected Lieutenant Dan and he wasn't a deadbeat after he found out he had a son🤣 F.G was far from slow he was a good MAN
He wasn't good at book learning, but we could all learn from Forrest about how to be our authentic selves.
I love the fact that despite him not being that smart he read to his son. That's super important and Forrest knows that.

Maybe it’s me but college was very confusing times no matter what the year is those words stay true forever
Keep in mind that everything you see in this movie, except for the last 30 minutes when he visits jenny and her son, or the bubba gump business, we have no idea if gump's stories are true, maxed up, or just his imagination.
No one knows what could have come to a kid mind and tell to the people.
Its the beauty of this movie, because if everything is made up, its the most beautiful lies that could have ever been told.
He did show the lady on the bench a photo of him and Lt. Dan sitting on a dock with the Bubba Gump Shrimp fleet in the background, so at least that is true.
We have to believe they are true though otherwise how would you explain his wealth and everything that we see/hear when he's not on the bench. It's an interesting take, but it would completely defeat the purpose of the movie.
This person that was dealt a fairly crappy hand in life has lived one of the most extraordinary lives. In fact, that's partially the dynamic of him on a bus bench telling these stories to people, such as the one man in complete disbelief and laughs at him because he doesn't believe Forrest (even though they are true). We can't be like the man who laughs at his stories, we know Forrest would not lie either.
If we are to believe he's an unreliable narrator than it takes away what makes this movie so good in my opinion.
Sorry man but the scenes that happen after he finds Jenny and Forrest Jr invalidates your whole opinion
Uh it never crossed my mind that what he told might be false. I don t think you re supposed to think that it s his imagination.
Forrest probably isn't smart enough to lie like that.
