This is so amazing! I love watching how ballets are made and how they're inspired by some small things in life! 😍

I love this! It's so cool to hear from the dancers and learn about the details in the choreography and how it connects to the jewels. Also, I just love to watch Darcey Bussell. :)

Lovely jewels. Madame Karinska made me my own costume from the ballet Jewels- it was a costume of Rubies- a miniature Rubies costume for a child. I have it displayed like artwork in my living room. Karinska asked me to draw the costume for her.(I was Karinska's fitting model for children's ballet costumes. I would be happy to show VC&A the costume or the drawings. Perhaps Van Clef & Arpels would like to see some of my drawings of Balanchine's ballet of Jewels- some drawn when I was a child when Balanchine was still alive - he liked the paintings. As an adult, I have made many paintings of the ballet Jewels. The ballet is a masterpiece.

What a dopey English comment re Rubies! Balanchine didn’t base this on US jazz, he based in on the era of music that Stravinsky expressed in the score, Kandinsky expressed in art & Diagalev expressed in The Ballet Russes.
This is an expression of his heritage as a stellar Vaganova, Cecchetti trained Ballet dancer & Leningrad Conservatorium music student.
What would the world have done without the ballet dancers turned choreographers, who fled in 1917? No NYB, no RAD, no world culture of Ballet.
    Eternal memory to them
