Honestly, I've found that the Thanatos is worth bringing on maps that spawn turrets. it does solid damage, penetrates armor/walls, and can't be shot out when it turns to lock on you. Mind you, that leaves it largely useless outside of that, especially since the faceplate/visor forces it into a 3-shot kill on dozers, but I tend to regret leaving it at home when I see the turret pop out of the swat van.

Medics, tasers, cloakers, and shields aren’t a problem if you can land your headshots consistently with the Platypus. The only issue you’ll have is Dozers, but you can chip at them through walls or bring along alternative solutions (like javelins, or bloodthirst with a katana). No, it one shot headshots everything except Dozers on DS. Video here even says so. I personally like this playstyle more because 1) I can land headshots consistently. It’s why I got a sniper rifle. 2) I like to eliminate as many dice rolls as possible. The crit-hitters aren’t accurate enough so I’m rolling dice to hit in the first place. Graze only spreads dmg according to total HP of the enemy, so I like to pick off those cheeky medics in crowds. The only unfortunate part is I cannot run dodge with it, which is probably why it’s not meta. Since tank builds lose effectiveness the higher up you go.

Honestly my personal favorite is the Nagant. Probably due to the old days where shooting through a shield greatly reduced damage (75% apparently). The Rattlesnake was nice to shoot, but just didn't have the punch to drop sheilds in one, even with a headshot. The R93 could, but the fire rate of 50 would cause issues where I had a shot lined up before it had fully cycled, causing a misfire. But since I hated Sheild's with a passion (running a turret build where sheilds would just wear out their ammo and then they're useless) I ran the R93 to deal with them. The Rattlesnake is just worse to the Nagant. The 1876 individual reload and massive mag is nice, but yeah the scope is hot garbage and keeps it as an occasional novelty. Haven't used the R700, but a half damage Platapus doesn't intrigue me. And honestly I can't stand the Low damage ones. They just feel like how DRMs SHOULD feel like (As in can punch through sheilds), but without even their terrible ammo reserves. So you can't even use them like a sniper (IE, sitting in a corner or a long ass hall not picking up boxes).

Im my opinion the repeater would be satisfying to hit headshots and isn't bad either. Good damage, Mag, Firerate anything you can ask for really. Low blow aced and berserker aced makes this really good.
Beatiful list, I agree with the order. When it comes to stats, the Lebensauger is a well balanced weapon, suitable for nearly every heist. Loud or stealth, it can pull it off. The Thanatos rifle is a weird thing, it's a 50.cal rifle so it has no consealment or stability, yet it has the most damage and range. Like the RPG, it's kind of a rarity. It could work in certain high level heists, yet it's tricky because of it's low mag and pick up.
contractor is still no1 for me the frenzy skin is so pog and it can be concealed easier unlike the lebensauger althought ammo pickup is slightly less it still doesnt matter due to its pickup being 2-4 meaning u are still insanely positive with pickup edit: also bigger mag size
For me, its the GROM, couldn't get the 308 to under 5 concealment with a decent secondary, what type of build are you using? Also the base accuracy sucks ass
The Thanatos is definitely a good weapon to hand the bots, i had them running it for awhile and then one day when i had the vanilla hud + mod to see the bots kill count i noticed they we're one shotting pretty much every enemy they seen and even had more kills then i did. I think it's a good gun to hand over to the bot if they have armor piercing skill.
For me it makes re-aiming more difficult, like the crazy recoil on the Thanatos, the gun flies so high it’s crazy to reset, but that could just be me lol
@@b33croft That makes sense actually. When I first used snipers I was really thrown off by the shaking and since then I just toggle ADS in-between every shot so I don't get too nauseous. Didn't know stability minimized that.
I like the Rangehitter, it feels like it's just the right RoF to put a bullet in the same hole as the one before it. But I also like taking the scope off and using it in a lightweight anarchist build so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
My favorite I think is Contractor idk, maybe for his design and for a skin I bought makes it look a bit cooler, but knowing more of snipers it's always nice
I honestly think thanatos is one the best Here is why 1- i hate low concealment and builds with no armor, so for my builds, crits are useless. 2- i always bring with a secondary weapon to break the face armor of the bulldozer so i can one shot him. 3- i am a very good shot and have very good reflexes and i have ammo efficiency so i almost never have problem with ammo when we talk about thanatos. 4- its fun as fuck to use. 5- the splash damage when you headshot a special enemy with the colateral damage skill is ravaging.
Personally I like the nagant, I feel the lebensauger is more assault rifle than sniper, high stability, good ammo pickup I like to use nagant because of the damage and it's got decent enough ammo pickup
Yeah, finally a list for my favorite category! :D Thank you for the good content! :) I'm actually very surprised about the low rank of the Desert Fox. It's my favorite gun in Payday 2 to be honest. I'm always using it with Rogue Deck, Low Blow Basic, Graze Aced and Mag 10 as secondary weapon. I always liked it the most because it is the only high damage sniper rifle that can still reach high enough concealment for crit builds. However, maybe you are right and it is just overkill. I'll consider your information when I get back into the game. :) The low accuracy wasn't an issue for me because I could still boost it up to 100 with weapon mods and skills.
I don't have all dlcs so my selection is limited, however I like the nagant and the platypus the most due to their small ish model with iron sights. Not as small and IKEA sniper as the Desert Fox, but definitely not as bulky as the lebensauger's. Come to think of it , visuals is 80% of the reason why I don't use the lebensauger. Darn you GeneralMcBadass and your videos that influenced me when I picked up the game!
The R93 still sits at the top for me, i also abuse graze till theres no tomorrow so in heists that take place in buildings like Undercover and Panic Room are very welcoming of my bullets, sometimes reaching accuracy that surpasses 100%
I'm a filthy scoundrel.. I use a silenced Winchester to quite literally pop heads and abusing the reload speed perks to ignore that massive reload speed.
My Repeater better be good- but I'm fully expecting the Contractor to be first lol Or maybe the Grom? Actually, the Rangehitter is good too... Bah, hard to guess!
Thanks for another awesome and interesting video! Glad to see that somebody is willing to *crunch the numbers* for some of us less... "mathematically inclined" lol
Heres the thing, ik this is a little old but the thantos 50 cal with the skill that makes you reload faster, and the skill that refunds 1 bullet per headshot, and if you bring a smg as a secondary, the thantos 50 cal might be the best sniper (but def not for ds or above because you cant make a dodge build with it which is usually the only way u can win ds loud heists)
I honestly just picked the Walther 2000 out of the snipers because I loved the gun (cause it's pretty much just a german space gun). Seeing it ranked at the top at least once in it's life is awesome.
I like running the Grom, with the right build you can get down to 3 detection and silenced. Is stability important for high damage single-fire weapons? The time between shots is long enough that you'll have to aim again anyway, so having recoil after a shot isn't punishing.
I think stability between shots totally depends on the player. I'm no slouch, but definitely need higher end stability to be worth anything for consistent-ish headshots. If you're rock solid/can reacquire target while reloading then probably doesn't matter as much.
I come from the future to make you really question yourself. *Do you really need stability on a weapon that doesn't fire even remotely close to a very slow submachine gun?* Snipers are meant for the single hit works, and increasing stability *objectively* does not make it perform better. If stability meant that it interacts with your steadiness, then maybe I would consider it a worthy stat to look into, since it would reduce the likelihood of my aim being thrown off from being hit.
Stability is recoil, waiting 3 seconds for the sim to reset is not a good situation, a good stability allows you to shoot accurately again quicker. Could just be me
@@b33croft In my time playing PD2, I only found Stability important on auto-fired weapons, never single-fire. I could say my hand easily makes accurate shots without stability, but I don't want to make that claim.
Hey if you don’t need it you don’t need it. By itself though, the reason I gave is the technical reason, think of it as gun kicking high into the air, the Thanatos is the best example, flies high and is nowhere near ready for a follow up shot. But hey, like I said, and do in all these vids, purely subjective in a lot of cases and everyone should just use what they find fun and like the most, just like I do
I used to run a fn fal style rifle with a single fire mod as a dmr style. Got 100 accuracy with it so i could just run and gun whilst calming clicking everything
The “Rangehither” has to be my favorite sniper in the game. Too bad it needs zerk for it to deal any sort of damage. The huge plus is, it can quite easily run crits.
I usually don't go higher than mayhem difficulty, so my favourite sniper rifle is the Rangehitter. One-shots most things reliably with a headshot, you can get 100 accuracy with mods and skills, and it's also fairly easy to get under 25 detection if you replace the scope with iron sights. That, and it's a cool cowboy gun, yeehaw
Thanatos, AKA 50. Caliber boom stick, no wonder its ammo pick up is so low. Still, that's why we have secondary weapons. Plus.....some of the stuff you can do to that thing is just comical.
It much easier to snipe with shotguns. More than often I see a sniper at the other side of the map and I just point my sewed off at him. I never missed.
9:18 it actually does a lot of impact,bc u just need frenzy basic to be a one shot headshot, even with silencers,so its more versatile, and u can carry flashbangs instesd of molotovs, giving u more survivability
Just made a Lebensauger dodge/graze/crit build with it and the Mark10. Only had points for Low Blow because I Aced hostage taker for heals. Running it with Hacker for more heals and dodge.
I unironically like the Desertfox. I run a crit dodge graze build with the Desertfox modded for high concealment and 100 accuracy and consistently get the most kills in the lobby.
I have an idea that I hope you find interesting, after you complete every single weapon type tier list, make a worst to best of the best guns total, so do a top 3 guns from each weapon class in order to tell the community what you think are the best weapons overall instead of just each individual class, if you do it this way there should only be like a 7x3 = 21 gun tier list. Shouldn't be too difficult given you've done ones that have 70+ items to review, so an in depth yet still short tier list of the best guns in the game over every weapon class. Sorry I repeat myself at all I just wanna get my idea across because I think it'd be a great video and everyone who watches you will finally know the true best guns in the game.
My favorite sniper has to be the Kang Arms X1 just because I love the stability on it and it makes such a satisfying sound. Although my favorite might be changed after I give the newly buffed Lebensauger a try
To be fair with the Thanatos, I use the short barrel and red dot sight on a loud build and use it as a battle rifle instead of a Sniper that and I use it on heist I know a turret will more than likely appear.
@@b33croft True then again I'm still a noob at the game lol, but that's what I love about games like this, everyone has a different preference and use for items.

It could work in certain high level heists, yet it's tricky because of it's low mag and pick up.
thanks mate!
I really love the thanatos, my favorite for hitting those trickshots
contractor is still no1 for me the frenzy skin is so pog and it can be concealed easier unlike the lebensauger althought ammo pickup is slightly less it still doesnt matter due to its pickup being 2-4 meaning u are still insanely positive with pickup
edit: also bigger mag size
For me, its the GROM, couldn't get the 308 to under 5 concealment with a decent secondary, what type of build are you using?
Also the base accuracy sucks ass
@@BazylLed most builds under 5 concealment i find heavily restricted i often go for 23dr (unless its shitzma/judge or most pistols)
Yea love it
B33croft : * sees any number *
Also B33croft : *HOLY S###*
agreeed
when every reload ranked from worst to best though
ooh there are some cool ones!
Yes amazing vid still asking for masks but if that's to many perhaps you can do enemies worst to best haha but great work as usual
Enemies for sur e
The Thanatos is definitely a good weapon to hand the bots, i had them running it for awhile and then one day when i had the vanilla hud + mod to see the bots kill count i noticed they we're one shotting pretty much every enemy they seen and even had more kills then i did. I think it's a good gun to hand over to the bot if they have armor piercing skill.
Though honestly I don't think stability is that important on snipers, I really appreciate the work you put into this list! Thanks.
Yea mate, makes it tricky for me and slows down follow up shots. If you have 100 stability there literally no recoil so you can just keep firing lol
Desertfox is the way I go, though I do run a dodge / crit build. I'm yet to find a major flaw with the rifle as well.
Just some crappy stability but that’s really it
I like the Rangehitter, it feels like it's just the right RoF to put a bullet in the same hole as the one before it. But I also like taking the scope off and using it in a lightweight anarchist build so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
For sure!
b33 makes a first short which is every DIFFICULTY ranked WORST to BEST (Payday 2)
👀
I'm a sucker for old guns, so of course my favorite is the repeater
It’s one of the best looking for sure!
@@b33croft one of the best sounding too! The nagant is pretty sweet too! Nothing like a good battle rifle!
Maybe you should do best primary/secondary weapons, just take the top 5 from each list and put it all in a ranked list.
Maybe!
My favorite I think is Contractor idk, maybe for his design and for a skin I bought makes it look a bit cooler, but knowing more of snipers it's always nice
I love this best to worst playlist.
Cant wait to see the payday 3 best to worst !!
Couple of years!
Kang arms x1 is my go-to for any sniper build that isn’t running low blow, it just sounds powerful
Yea it has some great accuracy and stab
I honestly think thanatos is one the best
Here is why
1- i hate low concealment and builds with no armor, so for my builds, crits are useless.
Nice enjoy!!
Grom is my favorite. Dodge build with the tatonka for those pesky dozers gets me down to 13 detection.
a dude from the future asking on which place you would put flintlock freddy
Just wanted to say thanks for sticking to PayDay 2
You’re welcome mate :)
Personally I like the nagant, I feel the lebensauger is more assault rifle than sniper, high stability, good ammo pickup
I like to use nagant because of the damage and it's got decent enough ammo pickup
Yeah, finally a list for my favorite category! :D
Thank you for the good content! :)
I'm actually very surprised about the low rank of the Desert Fox. :)
The low accuracy wasn't an issue for me because I could still boost it up to 100 with weapon mods and skills.
I don't have all dlcs so my selection is limited, however
I like the nagant and the platypus the most due to their small ish model with iron sights.
I prefer the Nagant, the R93 is just a touch too slow ROF for me.
I'm a filthy scoundrel.. I use a silenced Winchester to quite literally pop heads and abusing the reload speed perks to ignore that massive reload speed.
My Repeater better be good- but I'm fully expecting the Contractor to be first lol
Or maybe the Grom?
Actually, the Rangehitter is good too... Bah, hard to guess!
mmm personally i like the grom/rangehitter over contractor
lebensauger feels like its gonna get hit with a nerf i think they over did it
Close!
Contractor .308 is my fav sniper. Fan of using it in dodge/crit builds and plus you can never go wrong with John Wicks arsenal
Yea it’s awesome!
I like it how some guns get that aug magazine positioning
Thanks for another awesome and interesting video! Glad to see that somebody is willing to *crunch the numbers* for some of us less... "mathematically inclined" lol
Thanks mate :)
@@b33croft (Oh hey, thanks for the heart! Much appreciated.)
repeater 1874, its like, a shotgun with slugs, but better than a shotgun with slugs in every way
Nice, enjoy!
Heres the thing, ik this is a little old but the thantos 50 cal with the skill that makes you reload faster, and the skill that refunds 1 bullet per headshot, and if you bring a smg as a secondary, the thantos 50 cal might be the best sniper
(but def not for ds or above because you cant make a dodge build with it which is usually the only way u can win ds loud heists)
I honestly just picked the Walther 2000 out of the snipers because I loved the gun (cause it's pretty much just a german space gun). Seeing it ranked at the top at least once in it's life is awesome.
There is fun Easter egg with the platypus and Bodhi. If you headshot a taser with it,while being Bodhi you will explode it's head.
Haha so good!
I like running the Grom, with the right build you can get down to 3 detection and silenced.
Is stability important for high damage single-fire weapons? The time between shots is long enough that you'll have to aim again anyway, so having recoil after a shot isn't punishing.
For sure mate
I think stability between shots totally depends on the player. I'm no slouch, but definitely need higher end stability to be worth anything for consistent-ish headshots. If you're rock solid/can reacquire target while reloading then probably doesn't matter as much.
the day you post a vlog sun will born from west
Haha yep
The one I like the most is nagant because the funny bolt action rifle triggers a very specific part in my ape brain along with the reload it has
It is honestly one of the best Sniper weapons too. The low ones are just DRMS that trade all their ammo for being able to shoot through sheilds.
Did not expect a Wallace and Gromet reference in this vid.
Haha not many did!
The Contractor is basically a DMR with all the benefits of snipers like Graze and piercing shields
Enjoy!
I come from the future to make you really question yourself.
*Do you really need stability on a weapon that doesn't fire even remotely close to a very slow submachine gun?*
Snipers are meant for the single hit works, and increasing stability *objectively* does not make it perform better.
Yea, I use crits and berserker on it, love it
I find the best way of using snipers in the low and medium damage categories is with iron sights, as it's better for close range most of the time
I usually don't go higher than mayhem difficulty, so my favourite sniper rifle is the Rangehitter. One-shots most things reliably with a headshot, you can get 100 accuracy with mods and skills, and it's also fairly easy to get under 25 detection if you replace the scope with iron sights. That, and it's a cool cowboy gun, yeehaw
Haha for sure!
@@misterymisterio8778 With slugs i assume? Dont know why i feel the need to ask but, ya know.
@@jaywerner8415 Dragon's breath so I dont shoot twice in higher difficults.
Yea one shot minigun dozers is awesome
@@b33croft "Boom, headshot" Sniper TF2.
9:18 it actually does a lot of impact,bc u just need frenzy basic to be a one shot headshot, even with silencers,so its more versatile, and u can carry flashbangs instesd of molotovs, giving u more survivability
I do say you need less berserker mate, so I agree with what you’re saying
7:20 I think the term you’re looking for is “magazine-fed”
Meh I’ll stick to what I came up with lol
I love the nagant -JACK also loves bayonets
I am on xbox -JACK
Awesome!
Wow, in the clip of that introduction you have better aim than the average Warframe player
My favorite sniper has to be the Kang Arms X1 just because I love the stability on it and it makes such a satisfying sound. Although my favorite might be changed after I give the newly buffed Lebensauger a try
Agree!
Great video. I would like to see the old into back
haha maybe it will return
Ironically, I pair the Thanatos together with my Flamethrower Build for thr purpose of my Flamethrower being weak on Bulldozers.
Added a mod that classify galant as sniper. Most fun ever
To be fair with the Thanatos, I use the short barrel and red dot sight on a loud build and use it as a battle rifle instead of a Sniper that and I use it on heist I know a turret will more than likely appear.
Yea way too specialized for me mate, I can take a turret out with an assault rifle and still have a good weapon to use lol
@@b33croft True then again I'm still a noob at the game lol, but that's what I love about games like this, everyone has a different preference and use for items.
For me the Thanatos still tops the list. Too cool and too fun. I just pair it with a high ammo pickup gun
Also, the Thanatos isn't so much a regular mob gun. It's a "There's a Dozer, I don't want there to BE a dozer" gun. It's more a compliment to your Secondary, then your secondary is a compliment to it.
JUST IN TIME, I was having problems with my anarchist sniper smg build
Perfect!
My favorite has got to be the Rattlesnake, only because of a sound mod that I have for it lol (CSGO AWP sound)
Just got back from middle school what a great way to end it
Awesome!
Would you believe me if i told you i got the Sniper DLC for the Thanatos alone? Lmao i just love the feel of the gun, plus it's a 50 cal...holy shi
Haha enjoy!
I really like the desert fox no matter what my shots always hit plus easy one tap kills.
When is every modification ranked worst to best
I Hope Payday 2 needs to have a sniper weapon called the intervention the first intervention sniper was so fun that all start in cod mw2
10:41
Ah, but this is misleading as the Thanatos can also take grip customizations!
Its hard for me to use a sniper. I usually find it easier to snipe with the shotguns.
For sure
