Economy on the upper deck is always better, apart from extra storage from window seat, also 2-4-2 configuration is better the 3-4-3, 1 person less to pass by if a window passenger go in and out of their seat.
Great report again! I’m glad to see Qatar Airways still serves appetiser, provides amenity kits and gives pre-arrival snacks! Qatar Airways is truely a “world class” airlines.
flew A380 upper deck economy from DOH-LHR back in january and although I was stuck in a middle seat the entertainment and food were great. Coming off a great qsuite flight it was quite a shock though
The next time I travel to Asia, I will have to route through Atlanta in order to experience this flight. The longest 747 flight in the world, on a Korean Air 747-8, which I've never tried before. This would be magical!
I liked the way you worked the menu into this footage. Food looked great. Qatar looks very solid in the air, even in the back, but customer service on the ground (or on the phone) is attracting much criticism and that's why, with Avios to burn, I'll be waiting another year before flying with them again.
You want some good food in economy, fly Air France. Others are hit or miss or worse. Best if you have the most limited expectations of cuisine in Coach and you wont be disappointed or just bring some decent food you get in the departure terminal in and eat it on your flight. This is the smart move if you really want something better than edible.
@Shepard Smith I flew AF Economy just before the pandemic. The food was good and filling. But I flew BA long-haul a couple of days ago and BA ........ topped AF.
i was on that exact flight and it was amazing but 1 thing to keep in mind is if you on the upper deck at the back of the plane your last off so make sure you have time for your connecting flight
I am always impressed with Qatar. Never have I had a bad exp on Qatar. Last year around Nov I flew economy from SIN to Doha on a350 and then business class on their a380 and boy was I spoilt between Doha and Paris!.
Lovely too see. Take this flight every month. Always pick 30 J at the emerg. door. Always great to sit upstairs. More quiet. Not so many passengers. :D Qatar service is Top.
Recently flew with Qatar from Dhaka-Doha and Upto Montréal ( first plane trip too ). However, I was really surprised that their economy class was super comfy as like business seats. Service was good as usual too👍
2:11 crazy to think how time flies, I still remember the first week of operation at the airport when i was six years old, and now the airport is closing in on their 17th birthday this september
I was lucky enough to fly from Doha to London back in January on upper deck economy on a bulkhead seat at 25K. I believe one of the best seats in the entire plane.
Great video! One thing I'd love to know is if the leg room on the lower deck is the same as the upper deck? We are hoping to fly next year to Bangkok with Qatar. I love the hustle and bustle of planes though and think the upper deck might be too peaceful for our liking (2 adults and 2 children) so would probably prefer the lower deck.
Really enjoyed it! I always find it hard to resist a Qatar Airways business class flight but wow, this video actually makes me want to finally try out their economy!
I had that same long walk through the lower deck ! I believe that it was to avoid the disappointment of not having access to the Bar in front of the curtain ! Unfortunately and partly due to my Naivety I was lumbered with a inside seat in the middle aisle (which is 4) ! absolutely dreadful experience
I flew economy on a China Southern plane upper level and it was the best economy ever. Large side storage cubby and pretty small number of seats in that area.
Has 380 series aircrafts have automatic systems to switch off the entertainment Tv screens on landing The people who travel just walk of the aircrafts without disengage ing tbe T V screens
The idea of having a 2 instead of a 3 across is great but lets say you have limited time to make a connecting flight do you really think you can make it with 500 people trying to deplane on your flight? Good luck. If anyone has been on a 380 in economy and tried to transfer with limited time, please chime in and let us know your experience. When I fly coach and am trying to do this, I always try to get in the first few rows of the forward economy section or better, be in premium economy.
As cool as the A380 is, I still think it’s overhyped. People had choice words for Qatar’s CEO when he made negative comments on the plane and the flying public (and aviation vloggers) worship the superjumbo like god. The A350 has and does everything the A380 wins so much praise for, but I don’t ever hear people going out of their way, or pay a premium, to fly an A350. Emirates has played a big role in how the flying public feel about the 380 imo. That said, I’ve set myself an avgeek goal to fly on as many remaining A380s as I can. Now Qatar’s A350s are coming back in force, the QR A380s days are numbered. I’m looking to fly this exact route next year, so very convenient video!
@@12345anton6789 Well, I’ll be back on an A380 for this first time in 8 years this December. Looking forward to see if all the praise is true. I’m not saying I don’t like the A380, I really do.
I flew many times on QA in the 2007-2009 both on economy and business. Then there was only one direct flight from SG to Doha departing after midnight. Looking at the food now alone, QA has come a long way in improving their services. The economy food then was almost inedible and for business class, I was so tired of their breakfasts which was mainly bakeries and cereals, no eggs, no omelette and the menu for both classes didn’t vary.throughout those flights during that period. I was once served red wine than had gone rancid. What made it worse was the business lounge in Changi Airport was hardly service attended to with bare amount of remaining food leftover from the day. I never understood why then QA was still voted best airline.
Hello Felix. Interesting trip report. Surprised that Qatar would have Economy Class on the top deck of the A380 (21st Century version of a Galaxy-Class Starship) and that you would have to walk all the way through the aircraft to get to the upper deck stairs. Thought that would be reserved for either Business Class or First Class. The free amenity kit seemed to be a bit lacking as well. The dinner menu options were good. Hard landing at Doha. For a minute I thought that the aircraft's landing gear might collapse. Keep up the good work!
If this video was shot on the 27th of Jan 2023, which I think it is but could be wrong (I can’t clearly see the departure boards at the start of the video) than I would have been on that aircraft’s inbound flight from DOH! I was at seat 75C
When I saw the pastries, i knew that was Thai airways catering’s best. Finally they start to do Qatar’s pastries properly - they used to make fantastic pastries for their own flights and boring pastries for Qatar. Good that they equalised the standards!
Definitely a miss for me. Why make a long flight even longer with a stopover in Qatar!? The food looked incredibly basic as well. And that leg room is far from 'excellent' I'm afraid. Average to alright at best for the price.
Still haven't tried Qatar A380 Economy, but I hope to try it this summer if I ever get the chance to! Edit: I never got to try it at all 😔 but I can sense that ONE day, I’ll fly on QR’s Economy on the A380. I seriously want to try them internationally (10+ hours flight).
The hallmark of super airlines inflight service, is best judged by the quality of offerings in their basic economy section, starting with food and beverages, seating comfort, entertainment and amenity products, cleanliness right through to flight crew attentiveness, care and professionalism. To this extent, Singapore, Qatar, Emirates, Air New Zealand, Qantas and EVA Air are skies above the rest.

Is the upper floor quieter than the lower one?
@@f5z-.4waakwsgd17 Yes, it is less quiet and a smoother flight if you choose upper deck!

I flew Qatar A 380 Upper Deck once. It's smaller and quieter cabin with quicker access to meals and WC's. Highly recommended.

Great flight on A380 economy upper deck. Your dinner have plenty of Purple colour with the maroon cabin lightings.

Nice one, recently flew with them and it was solid
You should have tried their mango juice. Delicious!

Qatar 🇶🇦
Quite 🍷
Is their any difference between upper deck compared to lower deck? Worth spending the extra money to book seats in the upper deck?
Qatar is another airline that has amazing catering in economy class. Good job Qatar.
Emirates catering is much better
Hmmm very yummy dinner... 😋!
Qatar Airways also Illumination Characters in the plane.❤
As a child. Going to Doha to the Philippines I assure that I maybe gonna ride a A380 or A350 and I always get cold whenever I go inside of the plane.
I’ve always wanted to travel on the upper deck of a plane ❤
I flew on the upper deck of a 747. Not much different from lower deck, except fewer passengers!

That upper-level seat is fantastic with the 2-4-2 and the storage.

The boarding music is so nostalgic 🥲
Shorter queues for the toilets in the upper deck too.
Did economy passengers on the upper deck board before the rest of the economy passengers or were they one of the last to board?
The dashes you put in the description strike out the text and it isn't easy to read. Can you change it?

The Airbus 380 is just a very comfertable aircraft to fly on, even in economy. Far more comfertable than most. The Boeing 747-8I is the hyped up one.
Wouldn’t say they’re numbered, they’ll still be flying until the 777x most likely

It’s in economy class that the A380 really shines, plenty of personal space and of course by having the quietest cabin by any aircraft.

Yes, all airlines that have Economy Class on the Upper Deck have a 2-4-2 because the Upper Deck isn’t as wide as the Lower Deck.
