No, I agree, there was a lot of "jamming" that went on in the 70's that sounded like noodling. Some great stuff yes, but I think what bands like Phish, Goose, UM, and other's are doing transcends what was done before. All these guys wouldn't be doing what they're doing though if not for the trails blazed by bands like GD.

I’m only 64 soon to be 65 and I love this fuckin band. TTB is another carrying the torch, but do several covers of others. I love that about TTB, but this band is paving their path forward. These guys are serious musicians and we don’t see that a whole bunch in 2024.
I love that Trev is up in the mix. And I get it. I get the move away from Ben now. I love Ben's drumming, but as a lifelong jamband musician myself, Cotter went to the Fishman school of jam drumming like I did and that speaks to my soul. This is the level of jamming and cohesion they just couldn't seem to elevate to beyond a few jams here and there. Pretty f'n amazing, boys.
Finally! It’s not just peak city anymore. I’ve been waiting years for goose to finally wade into dark, ambient, liminal and exploratory waters. That contrast makes the peaks even more transcendent
One of the most inspired jams out of Borne I've heard so far. There is clearly some new energy and imagination fueling these guys. See you in Atlanta in June!!
I was today years old when I heard of this band and watched all of this. My wife saw something on FB. They are coming to town in 3 days and I think we are going for sure. Wow!! Saw Phish 2 nights @ Sphere; I'm into the scene for a few decades. Goose just didn't find me, but now I found them. YAY, me!! WOW!
Phish at the Sphere looked pretty freaking amazing. it's very rare for me to say that I have an actual "favorite band" because there's so much good out there but this is my favorite band. I'm 52 and haven't made that claim since I got turned onto the Dead back when I was maybe 23. Before then, I had SO many favorite bands. I was a favorite band hooker I guess. Lol. But then you find the one. Maybe a couple or a few times. :)
Just the treat we needed on a Monday night! Cotter sounds great. Love the Trevor-heavy mix, as well. My middle school students will be listening to this all day.
I wish I had goose in middle school. Hopefully the jams will break through to some kids and even inspire some to go on and make music of their own and inspire more! Also being a teen in middle school sucks so this should definitely help!
