I respect what they've done, but it's more in the "classical" regurgitative style. Goose's music, on the other hand, has structure which serves as a platform for an improvisational conversation collectively creating musical art in real time.
Just because they went to music school and know theory and can read sheet music doesn’t mean vulfpeck doesn’t jam . They are mostly instrumental , putting them in , jam .

Goose is phenomenal … I was a rocker in the 60’s …. They have flavors of the Dead, Allman Brothers and their very own unique style … listen to them with my 34 year old son who introduced me to Goose … can’t wait to go see them live.
I’m 31, been pretty heavy into the Dead/Allman bros. Don’t mean to put them in same category like that but whatever. My GF got me into goose in the past year and we saw them live over the summer at railbird fest in Kentucky. It was middle of the day with 90 degree weather. These guys played with the sun directly in their eyes and put on a helluva show. And being a halfway decent guitar player, Rick Goose absolutely rips! Such a great guitarist, and Peter’s pretty sick too! A lot of people say they sound just like phish, maybe a little but they have their own sound and are awesome and super fun live! Sounds like the crowd is booong and they say “GOOOOOOOOOOSE”. They were full of energy and would recommend and are definitely seeing them again. We need more young bands like this that jam but also shred! Inspiration move thy brightly!!
You will dance so hard. I am a on-the-seam boomer ( born in 1965) and will be dancing once again with the gaggle at The Cap in April. So thankful to be one of the lucky ones who won the lottery. ❤️ And I also am “mother goose” as I get to share the wonders of this band with my two 20-something sons. 😌
I love that Trev is up in the mix. And I get it. I get the move away from Ben now. I love Ben's drumming, but as a lifelong jamband musician myself, Cotter went to the Fishman school of jam drumming like I did and that speaks to my soul. This is the level of jamming and cohesion they just couldn't seem to elevate to beyond a few jams here and there. Pretty f'n amazing, boys.
Finally! It’s not just peak city anymore. I’ve been waiting years for goose to finally wade into dark, ambient, liminal and exploratory waters. That contrast makes the peaks even more transcendent
No, I agree, there was a lot of "jamming" that went on in the 70's that sounded like noodling. Some great stuff yes, but I think what bands like Phish, Goose, UM, and other's are doing transcends what was done before. All these guys wouldn't be doing what they're doing though if not for the trails blazed by bands like GD.
I’m 64 and first show was in 73 and there were plenty of bands in the 70’s doing long jams, but you guys are taking it to a new level and I love it. Doesn’t hurt that I’m the father in law to Peter Spadaro the lighting guy
I’m only 64 soon to be 65 and I love this fuckin band. TTB is another carrying the torch, but do several covers of others. I love that about TTB, but this band is paving their path forward. These guys are serious musicians and we don’t see that a whole bunch in 2024.
I was today years old when I heard of this band and watched all of this. My wife saw something on FB. They are coming to town in 3 days and I think we are going for sure. Wow!! Saw Phish 2 nights @ Sphere; I'm into the scene for a few decades. Goose just didn't find me, but now I found them. YAY, me!! WOW!
Phish at the Sphere looked pretty freaking amazing. it's very rare for me to say that I have an actual "favorite band" because there's so much good out there but this is my favorite band. I'm 52 and haven't made that claim since I got turned onto the Dead back when I was maybe 23. Before then, I had SO many favorite bands. I was a favorite band hooker I guess. Lol. But then you find the one. Maybe a couple or a few times. :)

I wish I had goose in middle school. Hopefully the jams will break through to some kids and even inspire some to go on and make music of their own and inspire more! Also being a teen in middle school sucks so this should definitely help!

I was tripping on shrooms and lcd and the guitarist was shredding so hard on factory fiction I started to have a seizure and than a bad trip but I pulled myself out of it and told myself this is life and had a great rest of the night. 10 out of 10 will do again
Cotter’s ability to just lay back into the jam and let things build slowly is so refreshing. Ben was good but he never let ideas really bloom the way I’m hearing with Cotter so far
Stop comparing to phish, two different amazing artists. I’ve got so much love for both, so proud and happy for goose and how much they’ve grown. The addition of Codder and some other changes have really shifted the band into over drive. The synergy is coming together, it’s the goose I fell in love with..but 2.0 lol
Great session! Cotter is an absolute MONSTER drummer. Rick sounding smoother through the Fender combo dialing in some sweet tones throughout. Jams sounding fresh and dynamic. 2024 is gonna be EPIC! GOOOSE! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

These are not individual musicians. This is a well gelled multi-headed hydra. They're throttling of energy reminds me of late 60s grateful Dead. It's subtle and it is masterful. Similar to how I feel at a merman concert You don't listen to this music. You swim through it. When you surface at the other side all you can do is take a big breath and sigh of deep sigh Wow.

I have to say, and I mean this totally as a compliment, that I hear less and less Phish influence and more of their own way revealing itself across each member's playing. I don't know how conscious it is but for instance, Rick's guitar licks consistently avoid Trey-isms and move into something else. And every band starts out wearing their influences a little more noticeably, but I think Goose are rapidly emerging into their own. (and this is no disrespect to Phish, it's an honor to Phish's example to similarly find their own way)
Love this. Cotter is doing a fine job. Will only grow as time goes on. Trevor’s bass is filling the room nicely! Reminds me of Rush in their retreat just polishing up and having a great time with no pressures.

I have to say, and I mean this totally as a compliment, that I hear less and less Phish influence and more of their own way revealing itself across each member's playing. I don't know how conscious it is but for instance, Rick's guitar licks consistently avoid Trey-isms and move into something else. And every band starts out wearing their influences a little more noticeably, but I think Goose are rapidly emerging into their own. (and this is no disrespect to Phish, it's an honor to Phish's example to similarly find their own way)
