    @Michael Palmisano I'm still so confused on the Jam section. What are they doing underneath the Jam? It's Gm but I still cant grasp what exactly they're changing/playing underneath. If anyone could help that would be awesome! Thank you.

    Michael, have you heard of Asaf Avidan?
    I know you are big fan of meaningful lyrics. Please have a listen of the Reckoning Song live at the Acropolis. It might not be the best version of it but the interlude hits hard. There's so much truth in it...

    We’re all a conglomeration of our influences. Goose is the first jamband that brings Berkelee chops and a distinct early aughts indie influence to the scene but I find their jams repetitive and derivative. Look no further then when Trey sensi’d them at Radio City - the jams were alive, organic, and pushing boundaries. Currently they don’t reach the same place on their own. Phil talks about the importance of the synthesis of the unhinged improvisation of the late 60s with the song structure of Workingman’s and Beauty that produced the pinnacle of Europe 72. Goose has the potential to grow into that if they can breathe and grow. Let’s let them live and grow into their potential without crowning them as something they’re not or dismissing them as something we’re not allowing them to grow into.

      @nickn.1436 4 місяці тому +9

      Or perhaps using phish as an indirect measuring stick isn’t fair either. I completely agree about letting them grow into their own potential but I personally love how their jams organically grow without always having to go completely off the grid like phish (although sometimes they do and that’s cool too)

      I think we’re listening to different bands. Goose rocks

    • @helzevec
      @helzevec 3 місяці тому

      Yeah, but I find that Phish, in spending so many years being hyper-sensitive about not being a repetitive and derivative "cliché" of a jam band, has ended up with a modern style of jamming that is often quite muddled to my ears. There is definitely a cliché "jam band" formula which is often overdone, but, I don't know that the answer is to go to the opposite extreme - which I think Phish of late sometimes does. In a strange way, I'm finding Goose's more "traditional" jam band chops, combined with the indie undertones, refreshing after trying, and failing (for the most part), to warm up to the so-called 3.0 era of Phish.
