Great symphonic version of the magic music of Jerome Kern, thank you so much for sharing ! God, each time I hear Ol'man river, it gives me such a thrill...
Bennett collaborated with Kern on many of the Broadway shows ("Show Boat," "Music in the Air," "The Cat and the Fiddle," and others) and film musicals ("Swing Time," etc.). This big orchestra medley was prepared by Bennett shortly after Kern's death in 1945.
This U-tube celebration of the "music" of Jerome Kern, leaves out the lyricist who provided the title's above. Yes Jerome Kern wrote these beautiful melodies, but it was Oscar Hammerstein 2nd for example who wrote the lyrics first, which Jerome Kern provided the melody to.

An amazing symphonic portrait. A remarkable tribute to one of the 20th century's greatest commercial composers.
This is such a wonderful addition on UTube about Jerome Kern in musical form.
Masterful orchestration and arrangement!

RRB's autobiography "The Broadway Sound" goes into his remarkable life.
