@@GoldenGrimmettProductions I’ve literally heard that clip on other bird trash talk vids but it just overlayed on top of highlights and didn’t have that studio label and picture of Stockton, literally assumed it was Kevin hahaha
The Rodney Rogers story has always been my favorite Bird trash talking story!!! Who else could get the ball on somebody like that and tell them exactly what they were gonna do... 8/9 times in a row!
Perhaps my favorite story about Bird "welcoming" rookies to the NBA is told by Kevin McHale about Anthony Mason. Story can be found at the 2:11 mark on the video "Kevin McHale Shares His Favorite Larry Bird Trash Talk Stories | The Dan Patrick Show | 5/1/18". Basically the story is this: before the game, while the Celtics and Nets were warming up, Bird told McHale to look at the heavily muscled Anthony Mason who had just been promoted to the NBA. Anthony Mason heard them talking and was posing, showing off his physique. Bird yelled at Mason, "all those muscles aren't going to help you tonight. I'm going to bust you up!" During the game, every time Larry took a shot over Mason he would yell "MUSCLES!"
Even during the 92 Olympics Bird was talking trash to everybody on the team! Patrick Ewing said he wished Bird hadn't retired when he did cuz he wanted to get him back for all trash talking he did! 😂😂😂

Great stories, I especially like the Shawn Kemp story where Bird knew all about Kemp. Also the story of the first 3 point shoot out at the all star game = "who is playing for second place because I am winning this thing" comment before the competition started.

After Larry Legend, I'd say Bill Russell, MJ, Michale, Reggie Miller, Barkley, Cedric Maxwell, Isaiah Thomas, Vernon Maxwell, Garnett, and Shaq just to name probably the best. Underrated are Chamberlain, Olajuwon, Kobe, and Dirk Nowitski. In today's game, Draymond Green takes the basketball cake. Others are here and there, but it's not as serious as it used to be with legendary trash talking.
Honestly, Bird was a thug. He is the perfect example of judging a book b its cover. A lot of this, his mental, verbal and physical game came from those young days as a kid playing with all those older Black men. He was gangster.....what else is it? As savage as anyone ever.

Bird wasn’t a bully, but he never backed down from one. He knew how to play mind games, but did it in fun and to fire himself up. Former opponents laughingly tell his trash-talking stories as though they wear them as a badge of honor. As many people have pointed out-Bird wasn’t trash talking, he was just predicting the future.
@@dutchtea8354 He absolutely was a bully....not in the sense he went around beating kids up in school or playing like that pos Laimbeer.....but he was still a bully. Talking trash to everyone, and the worst kind of trash. He didn't insult people's wives or families......no he actually told you what he would do, over and over, and do it. That's worse than calling someone's wife a wh^re or making fun of someone's mother. Those types of things are just insulting and made people mad, and sometimes that's not good as some get turned on when they are mad and, like Bird, play better. Bird would announce to them the plays then actually go and do it on the whole team, then start calling a defender stupid. That's not only maddening, it's embarrassing and put fear into them....which made them many times look confused and hesitate when he would be in play. Worst kind of bully. I love it.
Gary Payton might be the second place trash talker. Him or Reggie Miller.
Of course, Larry trash talked them both. 😄
