Kemp Started that game because Xavier McDaniel had the Bird Flu. LOL. That trash talk he gave Eddie Johnson is at a different level. 😂😂 I remember watching that game against Seattle, and there were points in the game where you can see Bird turning to Kemp and saying things to him. I wish they had a mic on Bird. Good to see you reacting to Larry again. I have him #3 all time. Great commentary as always bro. 👍💪
You mentioned Chuck Person, and it reminded me of something that crossed my radar recently. You may have known about it for years, but just in case... Metta was on Byron Scott's podcast in the last year or so talking about Malice in the Palace, because he always gets asked about it. You know he'd won DPOY the year before and he talked about how he was working really hard on his offensive game at that time, to be great on both ends of the court. He said he had spent that whole summer, every day, working with Chuck Person and Larry Bird on improving his game. At that time, Chuck was in the Pacer's front office working in scouting/player relations, and Larry was President. Considering how they'd been rivals, with a few well known personal incidents between them, the fact that Larry and Chuck came out of their offices, rolled up their sleeves, put on their player and coaching hats, and united with each other to work with Metta that whole summer seems pretty special. Somehow, it adds a bittersweet element to the tragic event in Metta's career that happened just 7 games into the season. (It may have been working too. Metta averaged 24.6 ppg in those 7 games which was astronomical relative to his scoring across his 7 years in the league up to that point.)
@@youmaderoskoe he’s not the only one who suddenly couldn’t play when going against him. They called it ‘Birditis’ at the time. There’s a video floating around about it. I’ll dig up a link.

Larry Bird is my all time favorite basketball player. I started watching basketball because of him. ♥️🏀♥️

Thank you, Aram!

Didn't realize Larry & Chuck got in the lab with Metta. That's a great story, save for the bittersweet part you spoke of!
Kemp started the game because Xavier McDaniel had a sore knee
That sucks for him because Bird was his responsibility, then! 🤷
X-Man would've gotten the same, more than likely. I did like that Sonics team, though.
