- I began the journey from hell from my home town in England to one of the greatest countries in the world, the Philippines! However in order to get there I had to embark on a 44 hour journey with 3 flights, many busses and zero sleep, it was a killer journey. Despite that brutal travel I am sure it will be worth it as i return to this paradise country for my 3rd time, welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭

I’ve literally just got back to the uk last week after spending a month in the Philippines with 2 weeks in Palawan. This video has made my day! Would highly recommend Duli beach resort if you can get up there - it’s a bit pricey but should be double the price for what it is.

We Filipinos use the term "Center" as Hospitals, Medical Centers, Public Clinics. No wonder Locals are confused when you say where is the Center & Mcdonalds

You should have asked the resort staff for directions. They don't understand center. If you had asked how to go to town or "bayan" they would have understood. Normally in the Philippines when you say you're going to the center, that means health center.

So many beautiful places to visit...you need to visit the visayas..especially negros as it has the best scuba diving sites in the whole of the Philippines

I travelled around the Pillipines with my family and our Filipino friend in '2000. It is in the less urban areas just incredibly beautiful with lovely people, and a very relaxed atmosphere. It's great to see Ben and Kats travelling experiences and really makes me want to go back there!

Oh ya, get up to El Nido right away. Get a spot on the beach near the edge of town. Set yourself up for Island hopping. There are a few different tour options. Then and rent a scooter to explore. You will love it!
Heyo Ben! Brit-Fil expat here. moved to the PH last year. Palawan is beautiful - deffo would recommend Romblon, Siargao, Bohol, Cebu, and Boracay but you've porbably been there already. One place many non-Filipinos dont know about is Batanes, the northernmost isles of the Philippines - and its one of those transformative places. Its the NZ of Asia, spectacular scenery. If you're in Metro Manila, would recommend staying around the BGC area - its the new ultra modern centre of Metro Manila and has loads to do. Looking forward to see your journey here!👍

Nobody expects you to be fluent but you would think you could manage a basic sentence like ‘can you take me downtown’ in Tagalog on your third visit to the country. Doesn’t make a difference to any of us but it would make your life easier and your travels more enjoyable

Back in the 90's whilst serving in the Army spent a week R and R in Plymouth had the best week of my life (ok my trips to Pattaya slightly win) spent my nights in a club called Blondes of which there were many of them . shame to see Plymouth go so downhill

Ben, there's a flourishing Vietnamese community in Puerto Princesa since it was a "processing zone" back in the late 70's to the 80's for those fleeing Vietnam at that time. They were called "boat people" as there so many families crammed in an oblong-shaped boat crossing South China from Saigon to any Southeast Asian country. Some of them went to the US, Canada & Australia and some stay in the Philippines where they married the locals of Puerto Princesa. Be surprised that you'll find Pho in the city. It's almost the same as those I tried in Hanoi.

Welcome to the Philippines from a fellow plymothian. Made that same trip many times as my wife is also fron palawan. Just for info you are in puerto princesa, palawan is the whole island! Try and visit baywalk in the early evening to enjoy some proper street food and live music. Unfortunately you didn't get anywhere near to the centre of puerto! 😂 places to visit if you can: underground river, el nido, Honda bay and San Vicente. Was there for last Christmas and miss it, nice to see some familiar places. Enjoy yourselves. 👍 ❤

Hi Ben & Kat. Hoping you still have a grand time in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Sorry about the miscommunication with some of the locals in Puerto Princesa. They're unfamiliar with your "very British" accent especially when you asked the tricycle driver and the couple if they're going to the city center. Incidentally, Ben we were colonized by Spain for nearly 400 years and most provincial cities such as Puerto Princesa is familiar with the word "Poblacion" (actually if translated in Spanish it is population) meaning the center of town. Anyway, that Panya Resort you've chosen for accommodation in PP should have been considerate in allowing both of you for an early check-in. Most hotels, inns & resorts in the Philippines allow tourists to check-in at 1 PM or 2 PM, however, if you request them for an early check-in they'll be considerate enough to allow you without any extra charges (Some hotels, etc. charged around P100 or $23/25). Just try to be persuasive in explaining to them your situation such you & Kat came from London with a grueling 44 hours travel time and I'm pretty sure that they'll let you in. I am just flabbergasted with that girl in her school uniform when she's supposed to speak even basic English. She even replied to you in Filipino (Tagalog) when it is obvious that you're foreigners. What a dumb ass, sorry about that. Anyway, I still hope that your love for staying in the Philippines will not waned after this incident. Thank you for coming back in the Philippines.

I kind of noticed Puerto Princesa area to be pretty quiet and slow pace. Yeah, I suppose there is a road like that one. Seems I almost just walked from the pier,but the other way, up past the airport, well maybe I did use transit. Usually I just carry a big Jansport pack (until it mysteriously disappeared somewhere near a quiet pass in Colorado, and my tems were getting re-sold back in Idaho falls, but thats another story).
It was a crazy adventure, thank you again mate!

As a Filipino bro, Jeepney rule. The best and safest seats are at the very end at the back. Because of those Jeepney lose their brakes or someone tried to rob you while sitting in the jeep. You can easily jump out 😂. Plus you don’t want to be that guy handing the ride fair to the driver all the time😂. Just advise from experience 😅

Accom. Location HACK: in whatever country I visited, I always choose the one located in the city. Near transportation like bus stop, tram stop, or train station, near where to buy foods, save on transportation fare if coming from far places, and easier to gather bearings and go roaming.
