Okay Dude ... I'm a retired mechanical engineer that has torn apart his share of wood pallets over the years. I have seen a number of "Pallet Disassemblers" that didn't work half as well as your design (and while I'm heaping on the praise, your metalworking skills are nothing to scoff at). Well done on both the design and implementation, the prototype is exceptional as well. I sincerely hope that you got this patented as well you deserve it.

LOL Funny you said that about burnt shirt, my wife recently made me get rid of a dozen shirt.... They are now in the shop all cut up in rags...It hurt, some I had for almost 20 years...Cheers!
Simple design and it works, mission accomplished
Great job, I thing the pivoting plats are the way to go. Nice and simple not overbuilt. I also like the extra on the Bearings though I don't think necessary. I just built one using a 36in crowbar and two nail pullers about $26 bucks worth of parts. Rather than doing the hinge part (more time consuming) I built more like a wrecking bar with a curvature to the bar that meets the wood slat. I'm just trying to trash the wood but thought Ide try and salvage if I need extra planks. These are really nice.

I like this guy, he's got a good flavour to him. This is my first viewing and he's better than others, with the sped up footage and subtle sound effects. Was going to say that the tool might need some refinement, but 7:10 showcases the pivot function.

Try PUSHING the weld, the opposite to arc welding. Also, tack the bit's on the corners, not in the middle's. Looks neater when finished. Also easier to break a tack off if the parts don't line up.

Trying to re design to avoid welding or prep all at home and take parts to the welder to do final assembly , saw so similar looking on amazon for like £120!!!!!

Go for it! Get any welder you can afford that plugs it into your outlet ( if you ask me, I would suggest to get a wire feed but a stick welder is much cheaper ), you will never look back. I am working on a video of a pallet breaker without welding. It is made I just need to make the footage of the testing on a pallet. I guess the build of this project is not for everyone but in my mind it gives inspiration for better tools and ways to take apart a pallet easier than a pry bar and a hammer. I appreciate your comments and watching.

What a handy tool. The swivel head is what makes it for me. I have found that the wood tends to split when using fixed heads. A swivel head is a must.

Well done my friend! Now that was a knarly pallet! Good job and well made! I paid $35 for one that doesn’t work that good. I like the way the 2 sleeves on the end swivel.

Nice Idea but where you drilled through the tube to acomodate the part with the bearings has now become a huge weak spot. You could have actually drilled the hole. Cut through one side dropped in the round bar and welded the round stock in it really doesnt need bearings or the ability to slide back and forth. However if all you use it for is pallets it probably doesnt matter.
So many people know how to use a welder and can make a nice weld bead but it seems being able to" fit" the metal is something that is not often understood by many welder/fabricators . You for example should have just left a gap in your 90 deg angle and you would have gotten complete fusion. There is no need to go to all the trouble to cut miters to perfect 90 deg and bevel if you are working with 10 guage steel. You just leave a gap 3/32" to 5/32"..Tack it at 90 or whatever angle and presto perfect angle total penetration. Mig welding is essentially just gap welding if done properly.
I appreciate the fact you took the time to watch my video, I post them to help inspire other fabricator such as your self. I did the welding with only 0.025 inch wire and as I am not a great welder I need all the help I can get that is the reason I bevel my parts and that way I have great results. As for the sliding pin it does make a difference when I am tearing down pallets as it gives a bit more access and the bearing does help not to mark the 2x4 to deep. You are absolutely write with the fact the pin hole net being welded creates a weak point but it can be welded in the future if required, but for now it still work just fine. Keep commenting the videos it greatly helps me. cheers

I have built many things including robots and automation . Magnesium guitars and a few pry bars. Beveling is ok but you can also gap weld mig welding is essentialy gap welding. Have fun

A T bar at the end of the bar would help to offset the twisting motion that happens when you are off-center of the board being pryed. Excellent video.
I didn't weld a T bar at the time because I wanted the piece full rotading motion. After using the breaker bar a few months I think it's a great idea as I had no use of the full rotading piece. I appreciate the comment... cheers
maybe using scissor jack with cordless impact wrench attached.
I have tried and failed at my first design of the scissor jack as I want my 6 year old daughter to be able to take apart some pallet...Will be revisiting the concept for sure! thanks for watching and the comment!
very smart patent. I like it. But removing a board is not a case. Removing special nails with small hooks where head of nail is broken it is a problem. Dismanling a palet is not a case. Butt dismantling big wooden boxes with big nais this is a case. Your palet dismantnigg tool is good , If you do not mind I will make similar in my place. Reg to you.

At the beginning of this vid I thought WTF is he over engineering this for. At the end, I am truly impressed. As for the naysayers saying show it pulling thinner boards... Do you know of any solution that may work better?
Small piece of advice, I can tell you for sure nails are much easier to get out of the stringers when the wood is wet and it makes a difference on the plank, less chance of cracking the ends. Glad you dropped by and left a comment.. .. cheers
Scratching my head a bit. What I like most is the nail puller. A lot of work involved in the making and the board breaking. Gotta have some ass behind ya to break them boards. Not for 150lbs guys or gals. Nice video tho
In 2017 I mad a very similar pallet tool that my 5 years old son was able to use I have the video but never posted it. The best time to take apart pallets are when they are wet on the inside the nails will just come out without braking the board. I appreciate your leaving a comment and hope to read some more in the futur.

I have two and the boards are so flimsy now days they just crack where the nail are and split down and the entire board don't fall in to this trapper like I did. I think they make their own pallets with bigger boards so that they can sell these pallet Buster's don't do it it's just the way to waste your money
If I can suggest something to allocate the boards from cracking is to have them wet...the downfall is yo have wet boards...

I am working on a different pallet tool that uses a scissor jack, maybe I'll insert a quick clip of it pulling some thin boards...
I love this design..but I'm not much of a metal worker. I ended up with a simpler design which has proven itself and cost around $30 to make. Check out my video on it if you would like. Thanks for sharing this project.

There's a much simpler way using only a few pieces of wood, a sledgehammer and a hammer to pry the nails out. It's called how to strip a pallet with simple cheap tools.

I have tried the sledge hammer and pry bar but it doesn't work as good as this tool. I also prefer the saw-all to the pry bar but that's just me.
