This video was shot in 2003 at Club Krome in Sayreville NJ at a halloween show. At the time we were working on a DVD that was going to be titled Jughandle as most of the DVD was shot in New Jersey. Fran Mark, the drummer and singer for From Autumn to Ashes was our hookup and got us in contact with all of the bands. Unfortunately the footage sat for the last 13 years. As we worked on our graffiti projects, this DVD took back burner and never came out.

Anna Boyden i knowww it was such a bad time when he was an alchoholic but i feel like it really added to the vintage videos and performances. you could compare them to the sober ones, which imo is pretty cool and amazing to see how different they are.

You have no idea how important is this recording for the fandom and there's only one reason for that: demolition lovers. I've been their fan for the past six years and they never played that song live and they didn't do it before either, or at least there's no video of it. DCfromtheV I’m pretty sure it was around 2006. Shortly before life on the murder scene, I believe. I’m pretty sure he talks about it in the documentary.

I love how this is just simple, dirty and heartily. No big fancy halls, no security men, super cameras, just a cheap show at home town for a crowd of angry teens, climbing up on stage, crowdsurfing, ripping their shirts, screaming their lungs out. And of course-guys... Giving everything they have to the audience, doing it from the bottom of their hearts.
When gerard said "these are my brothers and they always will be"......little did he know that immortality meant never dying or in there case fading to history as "just an idea"

I now see the difference between arena rock and music written for those small seedy venues we all love. Vampires Will Never Hurt You was MADE for headbanging at small venues, its so good in that context. people always talk about how bands "sellout" but I think it's just an evolution of time and space. Because where you play the music is just as important as what you play. if the band grows so do your ideas, you end up writing in the context of the venue.
I also really wish I could just straight up teleport to this moment in time and experience MCR the way they started out.

That interview at the end of the video is really interesting to watch new as of now knowing the whole outcome of MCR...crazy to think mcr was gonna make three cheers the same way as Bullets...I kinda in a small way wish we got to hear the raw version of Three cheers like Bullets. I'm sure if they stayed doing it that way, they would have done of Thursday did, continue the same level venues but still making awesome kick ass creative albums but not branching out as much as they would have if they went with a more mainstream label...I would have been fine with MCR staying more independent an low key than mainstream...makes you wonder what they would have done for their third album that we know is The Black Parade...

I lost track of MCR years ago… Demolition Lovers has been my favorite song ever since so long… founding this video has made MY ENTIRE LIFE. I'm not fucking kidding, I'm crying, this will be the closest I will be to watching them perform this live, AND I’M OKAY WITH THIS, it's amazing
They performed it live recently! And it's definitely not the end for MCR yet, so I'm sure they'll play it again eventually

this is great.. if i recall correctly this is the only time demolition lovers has been preformed in full live. i could be wrong but this is just fascinating to see the bands really early days.
You are wrong, seen them play it with less than 100 people in the crowd around 02-03. Talk about a eargasm.
I will say it’s my favorite performance of it I’ve heard, but there are two others I’m aware of:
Bloomfield Ave Cafe (June 8, 2003)
University of Connecticut (November 14, 2003)
According to setlistfm they've played demolition lovers 9 times. And I've seen one more vid at least

I feel like you can hear an improvement in Ray's playing and i love that! In this he missed the beat once or twice and didnt really know how to make it look natural. Now when he plays even if he makes a mistake he knows how to cover it and make it look intentional
I'd kill to go to an MCR show in 2003-2004. IMO this was their peak, especially in terms of live shows. TBP was okay, but arena rock is boring compared to this shit right here.

Glad I got to see them early. However, I never saw them play Drowning Lessons live.
Apparently they played it only maybe once or twice live but stopped because every time they did, equipment would break or something would go wrong like someone getting seriously injured in the pit. That's why some people say the song is cursed and thus they never played it live again

Whoa this is pretty cool. They have their crude costume suits before they streamlined it. Reminded me of Alice Cooper. Playing Demolition Lovers, I never even considered how that would be live. Gerard sounds amazing, I mean really good! They are really tearing it up on stage! Crazy good quality for 2003, BRAVO. And that Gerard interview is a great bonus.
