Im 27 years old, and lived my adolescent years through these mcr years, and also witness the catastrophic aftermath of 9/11 not only emotionally but societal. It changed OUR generation entirely, it led to mcr being something I turned to shortly after as well. I still have the original cd from many years ago in my parents basement somewhere, but I still go check on mcr every now and then when moments in my life are hard, even now as an adult.
It kinda sucks how people only realize things (good or bad (specifically the former)) in times of potential danger, anger, sadness, and general negative feeling(s). It would be nice if we could realize these things without needing to be forced into a decision by a traumatic event like 9/11. To a certain extent, I honestly wish I could sympathize with the people who saw it happen, even just through a TV screen, as I was only 17 months old at the time, and I was also probably asleep at the time as well. It actually seems weird how once every year I am reminded of an event that changed our country completely, and that I, to a certain extent, lived through, but I don't remember it happening, and was never even emotionally affected by until 10, 11, maybe even 12 years after the fact.
I have been listening to this band since I was 16 years old. I’m 31 now, and I just had the chance to see them live last year. They’re amazing, and I find Gerard to be a really interesting and amazing person. I have also been a big fan of Bowie for years now and last year while I was watching “Moonage Daydream”, I confirmed how big of a genius Bowie was, he was a singer, composer, actor, painter, designer, and overall a really intelligent person. I’m saying this because I know G is a fan of Bowie and I find Gerard to be a really complete artist as well, he is a singer, musician, songwriter, comic author, artist, has created great concepts for their albums, tours and music videos. Also, he seems like a sensitive, intelligent and nice person. Being myself someone who makes a living from a “creative job” I find him to be an inspiration in so many levels. I’m so glad to have had the chance to see the return of MCR and to watch them performing live. I hope them to continue making music together, they’re wonderful ❤

Idk why but I sometimes watch this video when I'm trying to relax. The way that Gerard talks in this interview really is very calming yet very inspirational to me. I can without a doubt credit Gerard and MCR in general as something that has saved me and inspired me to do better. I am 26 now and I have been an MCR fan for about 15-16 years. Ill never stop loving MCR and everything they still bring to the music scene. To the person that shared this video, thank you very much man.
We feel the same way in our High School, we are outcasts we are different we have been made fun of because we are creating something that we love. But it doesn't bother us because what we think of ourselves is all that matters.
I had one of “those” days at school where it’s not like anything notably bad happened and you were surrounded by people you knew but after you still felt lonely and just feel shitty for some reason. You just feel so out of place, you feel like an extraterrestrial life form among your fellow classmates. When I got back home I saw this video in my recommendations and 5:53 just makes me love this band even more🖤
It's funny that he said he doesn't know what they're going to be doing with their next album and that they've already said what they've needed too because it looks like this was after black parade and before danger days. Danger days has so many good messages and calls to action and making something of your life, I think it says that more than any other album
You can hear the pain in his voice when he talks about witnessing 9/11. As a person who gets mildly triggered myself, I understand him whole-heartedly.
i was in the fourth grade when 9/11 happened. i still remember we were doing a speech therapy thing in the class and vaguely that the teachers were aware of something that had happened. but everything else about that day is a complete blur to me.
Yeah! My mom was working in Hoboken ( we’re from Hoboken). And she said she saw when the planes hit and went crazy calling my grandma because my grandma was with my oldest brother at the time who was a baby. Which they weren’t by the towers or anything they actually well were in Hoboken 💀 but my mom thought america was going into war and she knew her boss was coming from the terminal I think that was from New York to Hoboken and she called him to make sure he was okay. (He was thank god) and then their building went into locked down and everyone was okay after. Really really sad day for many families though.. may they Rest In Peace❤️
He's such an amazing human being I can't even express how amazing he is or how much I love him. He's such a rare kind of man and one of the best you'll find. Bless your soul Gerard
This interview is amazing from him talking about his 9/11 experience to his feeling of being different at school (I felt that way too ) it’s so full of emotion
5:25 wow. Just like gerard said, You can really see here how much mcr wanted to go away from tbp, and just create music with no true meaning. I love how their instincts kicked in though and realized that their identity was to make a difference in this world and created an absolute masterpiece
I wish I had as much confidence as Gerard 😭 I’m very empathetic too but I’m also rlly sensitive and paranoid so it’s hard for me to peruse anything He has a great philosophy

He is a genuinely kind-hearted person omgee
I listen to Gee’s interviews with more focus and seriousness than documentaries shown to our class at school 😌
He started to band because he wanted to help people and he succeeded. MCR has changed my life. Gerard is the biggest inspiration to me
We feel the same way in our High School, we are outcasts we are different we have been made fun of because we are creating something that we love. But it doesn't bother us because what we think of ourselves is all that matters.
Big hug to this goat. God bless
Danger days has so many good messages and calls to action and making something of your life, I think it says that more than any other album
this gave me chills! Gerard is so incredible
I literally still enjoy listening to these to sleep sometimes
You can hear the pain in his voice when he talks about witnessing 9/11. As a person who gets mildly triggered myself, I understand him whole-heartedly.
i clicked on this expecting to laugh but now my eyes are watering. heck
help ive never been more attracted to another human being help me
i just admire gerard. he's such an admirable person and i could listen to him talking for hours
I was in 7 grade when 9/11 happened. Gerard is 12 years older than me and he was also friends with my Uncle until my Uncle's death in October of 2011
i was in the fourth grade when 9/11 happened. i still remember we were doing a speech therapy thing in the class and vaguely that the teachers were aware of something that had happened. but everything else about that day is a complete blur to me.
It's interesting to hear what happened that day from someone who was there that didn't have one if those cliche stories ...
Really really sad day for many families though.. may they Rest In Peace❤️
his little Cup in his little hand Oh my gdo
It's like Gee doesn't even wanna talk two minutes in. He seems like he's going to cry. Poor thing, it must be a hard topic to talk about.
He's such an amazing human being I can't even express how amazing he is or how much I love him. He's such a rare kind of man and one of the best you'll find. Bless your soul Gerard
him: you cant save the world. obviously
me: well, you saved lives. Millions of lives. Including me, thank you
This interview is amazing from him talking about his 9/11 experience to his feeling of being different at school (I felt that way too ) it’s so full of emotion
He's amazingg
his voice is killing me. it's so beautifulll
I love MCR and Gerard way so much. It's not even funny.
I thought this was going to be a funny video, but I’m so glad it’s 100% serious
I'm wearing my MCR shirt and literally just watched a Michael Jackson interview. Then I came to this interview and damn this is different-
5:25 wow. Just like gerard said, You can really see here how much mcr wanted to go away from tbp, and just create music with no true meaning. I love how their instincts kicked in though and realized that their identity was to make a difference in this world and created an absolute masterpiece
6:02 he built different
Awwww! He's so wise. When he was talking about the 911 incident & his thoughts I actually started crying.
Everyone's saying it's tea, which I understand because, it's a TEA cup. But I thought it was coffee because, Gerard.
Dude I love his voice... I'm over their breakup... Maybe because I know he's happy writin comics but just him talking cheers me up! It's crazy,
I wish I had as much confidence as Gerard 😭 I’m very empathetic too but I’m also rlly sensitive and paranoid so it’s hard for me to peruse anything
He has a great philosophy
Little did he know he’d be giving peoples lives meaning years after mcr broke up. Especially mine. He’s given me so much meaning.
cool interview, (; thanks for posting.
Yo this is the first comment on this video
this is my favorite interview... he says so many things i can relate to, and we can really see that he has a very humble and good heart, oh my god soft hours how much i love him.
The tea cup 😂
There's no joke in here. What he's saying is serious and beautiful.
I just realized that my pfp is from this interveiw
7:08 "Why do I want to create something so special and just give it to the world?" BECAUSE YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL FUCKING HUMAN BEING AND WE LOVE YOU
Omg I love the way he holds his coffe haha
