Im a massive Senna fan, so much that I named my son Ayrton. That quote always makes me chuckle, and even better is watching Jackie just sit there and dig at him during that interview. Its silly that people treat that line as if its biblicle text when the reality is, he was simply trying to justify his actions to himself for lunging down the inside of Prost when he had everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Haha 100%, I couldn’t agree with you more. Especially when Senna said “I’m a world champion” and Jackie replied that there had been many world champions that didn’t crash as frequently.
absolutely agree with the addition of the senna quote, my pace is around 1-2sec off the fastest guys so not particularly fast and i always come across the fast but raw driver who is incredibly agressive, and you then check their irating after the race and its at like a 1.7-1.9k because every second race they try to go 3 wide through les combes. i'm a little sluggish but i am safe and because certain series are incredibly crash happy (looking at you f4 at spa) if you manage to stay out of trouble, maybe concede a place here and there to a faster car you'll find yourself within the top 4-6 pretty easily, because basically everyone will crash in a 2k race in spa, its basically a free irating generator.

You have one of the most soothing voices I've ever heard. It's always a treat when you drop a new vid because it combines that with really sound knowledge. Thank you for everything you do!
Great video thank you👍 Tip 26. Dont try and win the race on the first lap. Tip 27. When you get lapped and you will, just be the guy that stays consistently running a line so the leaders can trust you that your not 1 of them allover the place guys Tip 28. Except the fact that people are better then you and you will be better for it in the long run Tip 29. Race people with respect even if there not giving you any, it builds character to maintain principles Tip 30. you can get very good and very fast if you go about it the right way like the guy making this video is telling you for free🏁🏁
Love your videos and they've helped me become a better racer. I am struggling with gt3 cars at the moment and wondering if you are considering some gt3 lap guides in the future?
I watch one of your track guides at the start of each new week on iRacing and your commentary and advice has really helped me improve since I started sim racing at the end of August. Thank you so much!
Awesome tips Sambo! Do anybody here have some tips for braking references while using VR. Because when you move your head you loose the possibility of the references appearing at the same spots each lap, for example when you wait for som reference to align to a part of your car.
I race exclusively in VR bud, the thing is not trying to be overly exact and learning the feel for it so when you’re testing or practicing, try and ingrain one point on the side of the track (I tend to give examples in my guides but it’s whatever works for you) and get that down. Even in a race your head should generally be in roughly the same place each lap.
Good video and I'm sharing with folks cause we're slow - tip 1 & 2 diagrams use a left hand turn while the video is showing a right hander? e; I should add - I love the start slow and how to learn car tracks sections along with the rest, great advice. Just wanted to highlight what might be confusing.
Yes, I wasn’t going to add a clip and made the video then thought a clip may be hand but couldn’t think of a track with an initial left handed after the straight and thought “f-it, I’ll just load Lime Rock.”
@@Sambo_iRacing Makes sense - the section on grip is so important for people who are learning is the only reason I commented - your diagram on the 'string' of grip between pedals and wheel is so good but the video is going the other way is all so I had to mention it. The message gets through though I was just adding commentary. Good job!
Yeah pretty much buddy. It really just depends on the time of day and popularity of the series. A 2.3k SoF in Clio Cup would be high and sometimes that’s a decent top split in the Vee or FF1600 but sometimes it’ll be 2nd or 3rd split if it’s busy. But it certainly puts you in the top 20% on iRacing in terms of iRating.
Depending on the track, you’ll lose about 0.3-0.6 seconds. The penalty iRacing build in is roughly 1 tenth per gear change for the auto-blip and auto-clutch.
I gave you a sub due to the last piece of advice. The biggest issue plaguing sim racing are the communities within the games themselves. Everybody wants to copy max strapon's behavior when he rage punts people out of his way on stream or nudges someone out of his way because he thinks he deserves a higher pole position. The problem is all the people who are highly skilled at these games & do content or are so called " Influencers " Are absolutely infantile when it comes to their mental maturity or ability to understand and respect the responsibility they have to act a certain way & promote healthy competitive behavior. But they are all just kids up stairs where it really matters & it just filters out through the viewers & into the games on a whole other level. It is a joke & even though I am a smaller channel, My streams, My episodic content on youtube I go out of my way to promote being a healthy competitor and to not behave like that. But when you have so many people worshipping these people even people who I used to respect for their skills like jardier idolize the guy like the fact they had him in a mental health stream & essentially let him act out and do whatever he wanted while everybody just oohhs over the guy it is a slap in the face to everybody who actually struggles with mental health issues. I brought it up in Jardiers chat, He looked at the comment, Laughed & told the mod to ban me because of that " Stupid comment "
Yes 100%, I’ll be looking to try and put the next one out in the next 2-4 weeks and try and do something helpful (other than just track guides and races) once a month going forward.
#23 - from what I recall, Senna said that quote after a crash, trying to justify his over aggressive driving (later revealed to be a case of intentional wrecking of Prost to win a championship). And everyone quotes it as gospel. It is ridiculous and you should forget this one for sure
Yes during an interview with 3 times world champion Jackie Stewart and Jackie was having none of it. It’s a great interview but most people only remember that quote.

And the fact that the following year, senna admitted he was wrong.

Brilliant tips for anyone not in top splits
Cheers!

Ferrari at Lime Rock coming tomorrow
Your Vee vids were like discovering cheats :D, thank you for the incredible tips.
Happy to hear that, cheers mate.
I watch one of your track guides at the start of each new week on iRacing and your commentary and advice has really helped me improve since I started sim racing at the end of August. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the feedback and support bud.
Same here! Massively helpful. Almost feels like I'm cheating the other drivers somehow😄 Absolutely indispensable!
Great tips as usual, it will be great to see you again on Garage61 :)
Thank you for all your vids i took a season away from the VEE but just jumped back in. Its too much fun. Great advise I keep trying to learn!
Cheers buddy. Welcome back.
Tip #6 is the most important i think. Have fun, it isn't about irating and stats. Have FUN peoples!
100%
Fantastic stuff mate, cheers!
Thank you! Cheers!
I’ve been needing one of these sort of videos lately, thanks Sambo 🔥
Glad to be of service buddy!
thanks for the vid mate, enjoyed it. :)
No problem 👍
Great video, thanks for the tips.
No problem!
Great video mate.
Thanks Sully
Great video as ever Sam 👍👍
Thanks! 😎
That quote gets replayed in my head everytime i or someone else lunges and wrecks lmao
🤣🤣
Great advice!
Cheers buddy

What about the quote "when in doubt, go flat out"? I think that's always the rule lol /s
Good stuff I’m a newbie 😂and subbed
Thanks for the sub!
Great video Sam, just a jargon question, what is considered a “top split”? Would I who drive in 2.3k spits be considered to be driving in a top split?
Yeah pretty much buddy. It really just depends on the time of day and popularity of the series. Tip 5: I use auto clutch for Vee, will that lose me time compared to doing it manually?
Depending on the track, you’ll lose about 0.3-0.6 seconds. The penalty iRacing build in is roughly 1 tenth per gear change for the auto-blip and auto-clutch.
I really enjoy and love f1600 but for some reason i keep going back to gt3 even though I don’t like them just because they are popular 😅🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️

Just outed yourself as someone’s who doesn’t understand a thing about racing😂😂😂
@@sammoore3687 I understand human behavior, You would have to be pretty silly to ignore the fact of how influential young people are now a days.
Holy yappp
Your point makes sense but the suicide mental awareness race is meant to be light and less serious so that's a bad example
Can you make videos like this for advanced drivers?
Yes 100%, I’ll be looking to try and put the next one out in the next 2-4 weeks and try and do something helpful (other than just track guides and races) once a month going forward.
