As far as Arthur goes I tend to like the research by Philip Graham on that subject and find the Welsh origins of a true person more likely, but the environment there around the Tor has legends, for the most part, that came later and is likely a case of the legend fitting the landscape instead of the landscape giving rise to legend. The earthquake info was very interesting, 1275, I had not know the region was tectonically active.
