@@darlenedaniels8618, are the boys neutered? If any are, you could try the neutered boys with a girl(1 boy, 1 girl). I have 2 boys who would not pair up with any other boys, I got them neutered and gave each boy a group of girls, as 1 of my girls was always picking on another girl.

I had a perfectly bonded pair of boars (Machu and Picchu), but when Machu got a cancer diagnosis I frantically searched for a new friend for Picchu. I found a lonely boar at a shelter living in bad conditions all alone. Even though he didn’t perfectly pair with Picchu, I didn’t feel right leaving him (Ande) there. I now have two 10ft cages next to each other and they both seem happy. They see each other and get floor time with a divider. Thank you for these videos as it helps me know I’ve done my best for my babies in our given circumstances.
I'm lucky with my girls, six of them all together living in harmony ❤️ Sometimes I hear teeth chattering but when I look into their room they just send signal 'leave me alone' and that's it. Never had a fight, once two of them jump on each other but nothing serious happened. Girl power ♀️
I literally just adopted a pair of bonded boys today! I've been watching them all day and they get along so well it's beautiful! They've been living together ever since the younger one was weaned off his mother. The younger one was really scared of his new surroundings, but the older one just chilled and made himself at home. Now the younger one has started coming out and snuggles next to the older one. :)
Good video Scotty. I wish more people would watch more videos about bonding, especially the boys! People either think they're fighting when they aren't at all or the opposite where they just for some reason refuse to separate them even tho there's one piggie hiding in a corner being kept away from food, water & shelter! It's horrible. Also, I want to add that giving them a "time out" no matter how long isn't going to change the situation. They're either going to like each other or they aren't. As you said, "YOU can't find piggies!" Just like my mom & dad couldn't MAKE me like my little sister LOL 55 years I still don't "like" her but she's my sister so I've learned how to tolerate her, guinea pigs don't have that 😆
Oh gosh I relate to this! 😂 My sister and I can only get along with each other for a week or so before we're at each other's throats. 😅 Guinea pigs have personality clashes just like we do.
We have two boars that don’t like each other much, so they have a split c&c cage and each have 10 square feet. They have tons of fun playing with each other outside in a playpen because they’re distracted by the grass, but they don’t like to live in a cage together. Does this sound okay? I wanted to make sure that it won’t stress them out to be put together and taken apart :)
I think that seems best for your lil guys. If they can't live together, but occasionally can congregate, and aren't too aggressive with each other when in the grass, that is great. At least they talk to each other and have someone there, even if it isn't in the same "house." Kind of like living next door to your friend (you can't stand living with one another, but next door, you still know your buddy is there - you just each have a safe space that is not invaded while having companionship. I bet married couples would like that at times too! hehehehe
If your piggies were stressed by the "play together, live apart" situation, they would be showing signs of that stress. Such as lunging, showing teeth. If they are not showing these signs, than I would continue doing what you are doing.

I just had watermelon and miss the days of guinea pigs trying to steal my wm pieces - I was holding a piggie, trying to give her one lil bite (just like all the others). But unlike my other piggies, she lunged and before I could say "HAY!" she was no longer a white piggie - she had a completely red belly and face. Cutest thing ever!
Funny story that you mention taking a road trip to adopt a piggy. I actually did that. I drove to Michigan to pick up my 4 year old boy while I live in central Illinois. My boyfriend went with me! He was TOTALLY worth the drive!
I agree with most of what you said. We had a bonded pair of 2 boys and introduced a 3rd. The 2 dominant males did NOT get along at first. We spent many hours with them together and saying 'stop it' when they started to argue and they began to tolerate each other. We put them all in the cage and they continued to fight occasionally. So we doubled the size of the cage, added several new hidey houses and added food bowls for all - and they are all doing very well. There are occasional skirmishes but everyone is generally happy. When we change the cage the cages they are all in a small area, they are ok together. They have a nice little community now. It was not easy at all and a lot of hard work. I wouldn't say the new guy is bonded with the other dominant one but they're doing good, occasionally eat together and they're both friends with the submissive one. It is not for the faint of heart but it can be done.
I tried to add a third female and my other female was not having it. Followed all the rules. They went to ROLLIN’ sooo after several attempts I adopted a female who bonded well with the new female so 2 and 2 except the new piggie was pregnant. She had 2 boys. So now I have 2, 2 and 2 😂🤦🏼♀️
Love your videos we've had a female guinea pig for a Lil while and I've felt bad that she was alone but we gave her love and attention but the other day I had a friend on fb that was giving a female guinea pig away and I reached out to her and asked about the piggie and she brought her to us and after watching your videos we went through the bonding process and I am so Happy to say they got along after the 1st day and now they in the same cage we are working on getting them a bigger space but they are doing amazing together ❤️ it was very interesting to learn about the bonding experience and now I don't feel bad that she is lonely she has a friend now their names are squeekers & Cinnamon
My boy, Ambrosius, seemed depressed so I got another boy, Shazam. As we don’t have a rescue here in Saskatoon, or we do but they never responded to my inquiries about ones they had on their site, so I couldn’t do a session before getting Shazam. However, I did not just throw them in together. I put Shazam into a cage beside Ambrosius’ compound. They lived like this, scenting each other for a week. I tried placing them together for a small session (1/2 hour), which went well, then an hour (went well), then again 1.5 hour (went well). The last session I did was for just over 2 hours and couldn’t figure out why I kept hearing so much noise so I looked over and watched them. My older piggy, Ambrosius, was fine with Shazam, until Shazam tried to eat some of the hay or greens or tried to lay on a blanket. I decided to pull Shazam and he hasn’t gone back in since. With a good aggression like that, is it possible to still try a bonding session later or are they doomed to live side by side?
Great video! My girl Sweetie died and Reesie needed a friend. I went to Oakhurst Rescue in Atlanta. Reesie got along with Eggplant at the rescue... poor Eggplant had recently been barbered by the sanctuary girls. Well, when we got home, I realized why Eggy had been bullied... she’s a wild child! Poor Eggy, she’s exceptionally annoying. She chased Reesie to no end! The owner brought two bonded girls back out a week later, I’d already separated Reesie and Eggy. Well, my Reesie girl wanted nothing to do with the two newer girls, but the two newer girls recognized Eggplant’s scent from the rescue and she was thrilled to see her friends. Long story short, I went in for one friend for my one girl, I ended up with three girls!🤦♀️ I didn’t have the heart to send Eggplant back after she re-found her two friends and I of course couldn’t send all three back. So there I was, my original girl Reesie in a 2x4 cc cage parked right next to a 4x4 cc cage with the three new girls. I never tried to bond her with any other pigs. She lived out the remainder of her life happily as a solo girl with three “neighbors.” 😊 Since Reesie passed away last year, I’ve foster failed four more girls... I’m up to seven. In an ideal world, I’d build a huge cc cage and let all seven live together happily. Well, they say otherwise. I’ve got the original three still together, then two sets of two bonded pairs - 3 cages total. It blows my mind that the rescue owner has 10 females and then 10 males altogether (his sanctuary pigs, separated by sexes), but he does... they all get along fantastically. Oh and I’m getting two new fosters tomorrow! So I’ll be up to nine and four cages... lord help me! But I am so excited I’ve not had fosters in a year. A skinny and a rex 🥰🥰🥰
I bonded a smaller baby boy with my two little older two boy brothers. I wasn't meaning to put them together but adding on to the cage so they could see each other through the cage. My calm brother took the baby in no problem but the dominate brother was going crazy knowing the new baby was so close. So I kept putting them together to see how they were together and it took a few times and now they are all living happy together.
I had a bonded pair of two males that only lasted a few months. Now the boys are neutered and I’m adopting a female to go with each one. Possibly going to make one pair a trio. I already have the adoption pending at Wheek Care guinea pig rescue in west PA. Highly recommend the shelter. I can’t wait until the end of the month for when I can pick them up(they are on pregnancy watch but still not showing and have 3 weeks left). Super cute American shorthairs. One is red with a white spot on her shoulder and the other is red and white.
I found myself watching Pipsqueak. He's such a 'busy-body'! Its true about female trios. A third piggy is needed to balance things out in the dynamics.

I've owned 2 pairs of boys. The first pair I got were a rescue and already bonded and my second pair were still very young when I got them. There was some chasing but they get along great except for the occasional tiff.
Sounds like my girls I have tried to bond them but they don't seem to like that but they live side by side separated and sometimes I will notice they are laying next to each other so I totally agree with this video

I have two boys who have been bonded since they were babies and I recently adopted a baby girl. They’re perfectly content to live with a divider in the cage so they can talk and bump noses but not make babies 😂
I have 4 boys I tried different combinations for cage mates didn't work they are side by side in a c&c cage with grids in between them they are happy that way they have purr fest some days as a game then they popcorn at each other and run away
Hi scotty I just came across your channel a few days ago I was walking home from work and I heard this screaming sound coming from the bushes I thought It was a baby kitten or a baby rabbit (because we have tons in our neighborhood) but what I found inside the bushes broke my heart and shocked me it was a adorable little Guinea pig he was screaming his eyes look infected he was so dehydrated and so hungry I found a (medium sized) fish tank with a lid and got him a cheap bag of food, treats and hay and also put a small blanket inside the cage as well he is so sweet he let's me pet and hold him and has never tried to bite I also got him fresh carrots as well I'll never understand how someone could dump him outside if I wouldnt have found him I believe he would have died of starvation and dehydration, and because he is so sweet I decided were keeping him and I'm gonna save up and get him a better cage and more toys hes my new baby
I havnt had a chance to take him to the vet but soon I may have too because his eye is infected any ideas on what to do for the eyes? I'm low on money so this is difficult for me
@@samanthaschaffer1214 a. If you have any friends or family who is a vet and knows how to care for guinea pigs, you can see if they are willing to have a look. b. See if you can get a loan from a bank or a friend and get the piggy to the vet right away, and then save up and pay then back. c. Make sure to give your new piggy a friend.
@@guineapigsnthings unfortunately i could not take him to a vet there is no exotic vets near me the closest one is a 90 minute drive and i dont drive i couldnt afford it, however he is doing better i got him terramycin ointment and i give him hay everyday and i did try and get him a buddy from petsmart because i wanted him to have a friend so i got a male guinea pig and he was so aggressive to the new baby they was fighting constantly i tried so many things it was to the point that they both had bite marks from fighting, i ended up having to take the piggie back to petsmart
Thanks so much for these awesome informative videos! I just got a third male Guinea pig and my other 2 boys won’t leave him alone for a minute! They keep mounting and humping lol but now I know that they aren’t angry after watching this video. Hopefully they will get used to him and let him be !
One my pigs is a year and a half old, got her as a six month old as my two seniors died leaving my four year old one on her own. The bonding took a few months letting them out together in the day as the baby one wanted to be boss lol, made sure there was plenty room and food in different places so they wouldn’t argue and my older one showed her the ropes and basic piggy etiquette lol. Once I was happy to leave them in the same hutch at night, they didn’t have any major problems but only in this last week I caught them finally sleeping together lol. Perseverance, no way was I gonna take her back so I let them take their time. P.s my wheatgrass is doing great 👍
I didn't know any of this until recently, so I bought my two boys from a pet store. I was so freaking lucky with mine, they loved each other from the start! They were popcorning and talking to each other, laying by each other and eating together within five minutes! When I have to bond again though I will be definitely going to a rescue 😁

I haven’t had piggies yet but this is exactly my experience with rats too. It’s up to the rats (or piggies, or any social animal really) as to whether they want to live together or not.
@10:07-10:18 Billy is clearing listening to you and agreeing. I find it so interesting to watch Pippy run through his maze back and forth. It seems that while he is having a lot of fun, he also seems to be searching for the others. He looks like he really wants to interact with Billy and Nate and yet, he goes nuts when you try to have them hang out together or try to live together. I have seen you try so many times with Gari, Billy, Nate, and Pippy, and yet same result. It is a shame, but at least they can check each other out and talk to each other through the "grid." hehe
I have my 2 boys, both about 4 months old. From 2 different places. They are in a 2 foot by 8 foot cage (16 square feet) they are for now bonded, but prepared to split the cage if needed when they come of age. Although it would be amazing if they stay bonded cuz they have so much space right now 💚 fingers crossed!
I recently adopted a little girl who had been abandond after her friend gave birth and she wasnt happy about it. Unfortunately she doesnt get on with my 2 and she wad running around being all crazy and scared. When i went to pick her up to seperate i got bitten 😪 they now live next door to each other and chat through the cages. Shame but they all seem calmer this way
Hey Scottie question I have lost to boys over the last few months I emailed you about them a few weeks ago. My senior piggie ended up passing after I got a baby for him so I got another baby boar buddy for him they are currently separate to make sure the newbie isn't sick. Do babies bond easier then adults I am so stressed about bonding.
Very informative. All the boars I’ve adopted are because they didn’t get along with another piggie. Out of my 7 boys only one I have not found a buddy for but his habitat is between two other habitats that have bonded pairs.
So I adopted my first Guinea pig (mochi), then the next day adopted the other two brother (coffee and toffee). I tried to bond them but toffee gets alone well with Mochi and his brother coffee. However, Coffee always chase after Mochi and even fights him :( but they both get alone well while I hold them both on my lap.
I’m looking forward to adopting my two boys in a months time ❤️ I’ve been watching a lot of these bonding videos to know what’s good and bad signs that these two could display when they come home to a new environment or later on in life. As soon as I knew I was adopting boys, I planned a completely new set up (I originally just had a 4x2 C&C), but I’m building a new extended version; as I know boys tend to need more room AND in the possibility they fall out, they have much more room if I were to divide it into two. I’ll probably build a grid divider and store it somewhere for a “just incase”. That way it’ll just need attaching either side. It may also come in useful should one ever need surgery? I was advised that they should have a divide so the other piggy doesn’t chew on the stitches, but still interact? I know these are all just huge “what ifs”, but I want to be prepared for EVERY scenario I can 😅😅.
I just got another Guinea pig a younger male to try with my 2 yr old male but don’t know if it will work out as I have them side by side and one is furiously biting the cage next to the other one.
We bought our guinea pigs from idk what store my parents bought them, but they didn't get along because I think one of the cats got lil dudes (my sisters piggie) ear. I also think lil dude was bullying my baby boy cheeto from the food because he was about half the size of him. Once they were separated cheeto grew to lil dudes size and was wayyyy less skiddish. He likes me a lot and is a sweet attitudey baby. He currently has a kaytee cage and I'm going to buy him a Midwest is that good enough??

Hey there! So I have 2 bonded guinea pigs, then 1 guinea pig who isn’t bonded to them. All of which are girls. We put them in the big cage which none of them have ever been in, and mocha (the oldest) started fighting with Delilah (the middle child) so Intervened and mocha ended up biting me. Is it ok to try again or will it just not work?
My piggies sometimes purr at each other and shake their butts at each other. Is this okay? Other than that, sometimes they sleep together and help each other learn about the new cage modifications.
Hi I just found your channel a friend told me about you and I have a really dominant female piggie and a Piggie that isn’t I recommend letting them together in a playpen all day and that gives them time to establish domanence and they won’t fight 😁

My guinea pig hates any other guinea pigs. I once showed her my other two guinea pigs she rumble strutted and teeth chattered and tried to bite them. She has done it with every guinea pig we showed her. But I hold her every day so she doesn’t feel lonely.
You always have such great advice. What are your thoughts on bonding a neutered male with two females. I have rescued a male who is DARLING and already have a set of bonded girls as well as a female trio. I was thinking of trying him with my girl duo in some time. Not sure if you have seen this before. My duo has a 4 yo and a 7 mo old. The male is just a year. Would love to hear your thoughts!
I've seen a male with a herd of female piggies before it is possible! I'd just make sure they all get along and the girls don't gang up on him. So yeah it could definitely work especially since he's neutered
Scotty one of my guinea pigs passed away this passed week and her sister seems lonely without her. She's 13 months old as her sister was. 😥 We don't know what happened because she seemed fine and they never fought so it wasn't a fight. They were gotten together at the same time and loved each other. Anyway what I wanted to know is if we can put a small stuffed animal in the cage with her. I'm wondering if that would comfort her. Thanks.
Yes a stuffed animal will comfort your girl until you are able to find a friend for her. I am so sorry for your loss. I have a collection of stuffed animals that I use for my piggies when they need to be away from their friends.
Can they still get depressed if they're seperated in neighbouring cages? I'm afraid that they will get depressed, that's my only issue with my two male guinea pigs.

i was given a child piggy and then an elder piggy and then a baby piggy all in the same month O_O the baby and child bonded but i tried introducing the elder, it wasn't working out. :( i have to keep the elder separated. i feel bad because he's just in a regular cage while the other 2 have lots of room in this neato hutch we got them. im looking to get another big cage for Peppi the elder piggy. he lives in the cage placed on top of the hutch. he seems to be okay with it. i let him play on the floor in a small play pen. i have to kick my dogs out tho. hoping to get his larger cage soon!
In general, adults get along well with babies because they don't see them as a potential threat or rival. Don't put daughter in with daddy (or mommy in with him either) since they can start breeding at just a few weeks old (and mommy can get pregnant again right after giving birth).
I have a question. My pig Sev is on antibiotics Baytril but it tastes awful, can I mix it with anything like recovery food or some mashed banana? It was a fight to get him to take his first dose.

Saskia has videos about fungal foot. Yes just soak their feet in the anti fungal shampoo bath and then you can put a small amount of cream it will be OK you have to be diligent it's better to put a little bit on frequently

Funny story that you mention taking a road trip to adopt a piggy. I actually did that. I drove to Michigan to pick up my 4 year old boy while I live in central Illinois. My boyfriend went with me! He was TOTALLY worth the drive!
I agree with most of what you said. We had a bonded pair of 2 boys and introduced a 3rd. The 2 dominant males did NOT get along at first. We spent many hours with them together and saying 'stop it' when they started to argue and they began to tolerate each other. We put them all in the cage and they continued to fight occasionally. So we doubled the size of the cage, added several new hidey houses and added food bowls for all - and they are all doing very well. There are occasional skirmishes but everyone is generally happy. When we change the cage the cages they are all in a small area, they are ok together. They have a nice little community now. It was not easy at all and a lot of hard work. I wouldn't say the new guy is bonded with the other dominant one but they're doing good, occasionally eat together and they're both friends with the submissive one. It is not for the faint of heart but it can be done.

I tried to add a third female and my other female was not having it. Followed all the rules. They went to ROLLIN’ sooo after several attempts I adopted a female who bonded well with the new female so 2 and 2 except the new piggie was pregnant. She had 2 boys. So now I have 2, 2 and 2 😂🤦🏼♀️
Love your videos we've had a female guinea pig for a Lil while and I've felt bad that she was alone but we gave her love and attention but the other day I had a friend on fb that was giving a female guinea pig away and I reached out to her and asked about the piggie and she brought her to us and after watching your videos we went through the bonding process and I am so Happy to say they got along after the 1st day and now they in the same cage we are working on getting them a bigger space but they are doing amazing together ❤️ it was very interesting to learn about the bonding experience and now I don't feel bad that she is lonely she has a friend now their names are squeekers & Cinnamon

My boy, Ambrosius, seemed depressed so I got another boy, Shazam. As we don’t have a rescue here in Saskatoon, or we do but they never responded to my inquiries about ones they had on their site, so I couldn’t do a session before getting Shazam. However, I did not just throw them in together. I put Shazam into a cage beside Ambrosius’ compound. They lived like this, scenting each other for a week. I tried placing them together for a small session (1/2 hour), which went well, then an hour (went well), then again 1.5 hour (went well). The last session I did was for just over 2 hours and couldn’t figure out why I kept hearing so much noise so I looked over and watched them. My older piggy, Ambrosius, was fine with Shazam, until Shazam tried to eat some of the hay or greens or tried to lay on a blanket. I decided to pull Shazam and he hasn’t gone back in since. With a good aggression like that, is it possible to still try a bonding session later or are they doomed to live side by side?
Great video! My girl Sweetie died and Reesie needed a friend. I went to Oakhurst Rescue in Atlanta. Reesie got along with Eggplant at the rescue... poor Eggplant had recently been barbered by the sanctuary girls. Well, when we got home, I realized why Eggy had been bullied... she’s a wild child! Poor Eggy, she’s exceptionally annoying. She chased Reesie to no end! The owner brought two bonded girls back out a week later, I’d already separated Reesie and Eggy. Well, my Reesie girl wanted nothing to do with the two newer girls, but the two newer girls recognized Eggplant’s scent from the rescue and she was thrilled to see her friends. Long story short, I went in for one friend for my one girl, I ended up with three girls!🤦♀️ I didn’t have the heart to send Eggplant back after she re-found her two friends and I of course couldn’t send all three back. So there I was, my original girl Reesie in a 2x4 cc cage parked right next to a 4x4 cc cage with the three new girls. I never tried to bond her with any other pigs. She lived out the remainder of her life happily as a solo girl with three “neighbors.” 😊 Since Reesie passed away last year, I’ve foster failed four more girls... I’m up to seven. In an ideal world, I’d build a huge cc cage and let all seven live together happily. Well, they say otherwise. I’ve got the original three still together, then two sets of two bonded pairs - 3 cages total. It blows my mind that the rescue owner has 10 females and then 10 males altogether (his sanctuary pigs, separated by sexes), but he does... they all get along fantastically.
Oh and I’m getting two new fosters tomorrow! So I’ll be up to nine and four cages... lord help me! But I am so excited I’ve not had fosters in a year. A skinny and a rex 🥰🥰🥰
I bonded a smaller baby boy with my two little older two boy brothers. I wasn't meaning to put them together but adding on to the cage so they could see each other through the cage. My calm brother took the baby in no problem but the dominate brother was going crazy knowing the new baby was so close. So I kept putting them together to see how they were together and it took a few times and now they are all living happy together.
I had a bonded pair of two males that only lasted a few months. Now the boys are neutered and I’m adopting a female to go with each one. Possibly going to make one pair a trio.
I already have the adoption pending at Wheek Care guinea pig rescue in west PA. Highly recommend the shelter. I can’t wait until the end of the month for when I can pick them up(they are on pregnancy watch but still not showing and have 3 weeks left). Super cute American shorthairs. One is red with a white spot on her shoulder and the other is red and white.

My two boys have been together for a year and STILL rumblestrut and mount each other every single day! Arghhhh! But they don’t fight.
Cool shirt and also nice sound effects 😄 mine started to fight a little when the younger one got older. They were separate for a while but were able to rebond once he settled. They sleep together now. 🙃
I've owned 2 pairs of boys. The first pair I got were a rescue and already bonded and my second pair were still very young when I got them. There was some chasing but they get along great except for the occasional tiff.
Sounds like my girls I have tried to bond them but they don't seem to like that but they live side by side separated and sometimes I will notice they are laying next to each other so I totally agree with this video

I have two boys who have been bonded since they were babies and I recently adopted a baby girl. They’re perfectly content to live with a divider in the cage so they can talk and bump noses but not make babies 😂

I have 4 boys I tried different combinations for cage mates didn't work they are side by side in a c&c cage with grids in between them they are happy that way they have purr fest some days as a game then they popcorn at each other and run away
Hi scotty I just came across your channel a few days ago I was walking home from work and I heard this screaming sound coming from the bushes I thought It was a baby kitten or a baby rabbit (because we have tons in our neighborhood) but what I found inside the bushes broke my heart and shocked me it was a adorable little Guinea pig he was screaming his eyes look infected he was so dehydrated and so hungry I found a (medium sized) fish tank with a lid and got him a cheap bag of food, treats and hay and also put a small blanket inside the cage as well he is so sweet he let's me pet and hold him and has never tried to bite I also got him fresh carrots as well I'll never understand how someone could dump him outside if I wouldnt have found him I believe he would have died of starvation and dehydration, and because he is so sweet I decided were keeping him and I'm gonna save up and get him a better cage and more toys hes my new baby
I havnt had a chance to take him to the vet but soon I may have too because his eye is infected any ideas on what to do for the eyes? I'm low on money so this is difficult for me
@@samanthaschaffer1214 a. If you have any friends or family who is a vet and knows how to care for guinea pigs, you can see if they are willing to have a look.
b. See if you can get a loan from a bank or a friend and get the piggy to the vet right away, and then save up and pay then back.
c. Make sure to give your new piggy a friend.
@@guineapigsnthings unfortunately i could not take him to a vet there is no exotic vets near me the closest one is a 90 minute drive and i dont drive i couldnt afford it, however he is doing better i got him terramycin ointment and i give him hay everyday and i did try and get him a buddy from petsmart because i wanted him to have a friend so i got a male guinea pig and he was so aggressive to the new baby they was fighting constantly i tried so many things it was to the point that they both had bite marks from fighting, i ended up having to take the piggie back to petsmart

One my pigs is a year and a half old, got her as a six month old as my two seniors died leaving my four year old one on her own. The bonding took a few months letting them out together in the day as the baby one wanted to be boss lol, made sure there was plenty room and food in different places so they wouldn’t argue and my older one showed her the ropes and basic piggy etiquette lol. Once I was happy to leave them in the same hutch at night, they didn’t have any major problems but only in this last week I caught them finally sleeping together lol. Perseverance, no way was I gonna take her back so I let them take their time. P.s my wheatgrass is doing great 👍

I didn't know any of this until recently, so I bought my two boys from a pet store. I was so freaking lucky with mine, they loved each other from the start! They were popcorning and talking to each other, laying by each other and eating together within five minutes! When I have to bond again though I will be definitely going to a rescue 😁

I haven’t had piggies yet but this is exactly my experience with rats too. It’s up to the rats (or piggies, or any social animal really) as to whether they want to live together or not.
@10:07-10:18 Billy is clearing listening to you and agreeing. I find it so interesting to watch Pippy run through his maze back and forth. It seems that while he is having a lot of fun, he also seems to be searching for the others. He looks like he really wants to interact with Billy and Nate and yet, he goes nuts when you try to have them hang out together or try to live together. I have seen you try so many times with Gari, Billy, Nate, and Pippy, and yet same result. It is a shame, but at least they can check each other out and talk to each other through the "grid." hehe
I have 3 girls and 4 boys.They all get along amazingly.I think it helps that they have a whole barn converted into a pen for them.

I have my 2 boys, both about 4 months old. From 2 different places. They are in a 2 foot by 8 foot cage (16 square feet) they are for now bonded, but prepared to split the cage if needed when they come of age. Although it would be amazing if they stay bonded cuz they have so much space right now 💚 fingers crossed!

I recently adopted a little girl who had been abandond after her friend gave birth and she wasnt happy about it. Unfortunately she doesnt get on with my 2 and she wad running around being all crazy and scared. When i went to pick her up to seperate i got bitten 😪 they now live next door to each other and chat through the cages. Shame but they all seem calmer this way

Hey Scottie question I have lost to boys over the last few months I emailed you about them a few weeks ago. My senior piggie ended up passing after I got a baby for him so I got another baby boar buddy for him they are currently separate to make sure the newbie isn't sick. Do babies bond easier then adults I am so stressed about bonding.
Exactly they will decide if they like each other or not, it's all about personalities of the Guinea pigs..
Very informative. All the boars I’ve adopted are because they didn’t get along with another piggie. Out of my 7 boys only one I have not found a buddy for but his habitat is between two other habitats that have bonded pairs.

So I adopted my first Guinea pig (mochi), then the next day adopted the other two brother (coffee and toffee). I tried to bond them but toffee gets alone well with Mochi and his brother coffee. However, Coffee always chase after Mochi and even fights him :( but they both get alone well while I hold them both on my lap.
Once I had two sisters, they didn’t like each other at all. One of them was very dominant.
I’m looking forward to adopting my two boys in a months time ❤️ I’ve been watching a lot of these bonding videos to know what’s good and bad signs that these two could display when they come home to a new environment or later on in life. As soon as I knew I was adopting boys, I planned a completely new set up (I originally just had a 4x2 C&C), but I’m building a new extended version; as I know boys tend to need more room AND in the possibility they fall out, they have much more room if I were to divide it into two. I’ll probably build a grid divider and store it somewhere for a “just incase”. That way it’ll just need attaching either side. It may also come in useful should one ever need surgery? I was advised that they should have a divide so the other piggy doesn’t chew on the stitches, but still interact? I know these are all just huge “what ifs”, but I want to be prepared for EVERY scenario I can 😅😅.

I just got another Guinea pig a younger male to try with my 2 yr old male but don’t know if it will work out as I have them side by side and one is furiously biting the cage next to the other one.
We bought our guinea pigs from idk what store my parents bought them, but they didn't get along because I think one of the cats got lil dudes (my sisters piggie) ear. I also think lil dude was bullying my baby boy cheeto from the food because he was about half the size of him. Once they were separated cheeto grew to lil dudes size and was wayyyy less skiddish. He likes me a lot and is a sweet attitudey baby. He currently has a kaytee cage and I'm going to buy him a Midwest is that good enough??

Hey there! So I have 2 bonded guinea pigs, then 1 guinea pig who isn’t bonded to them. All of which are girls. We put them in the big cage which none of them have ever been in, and mocha (the oldest) started fighting with Delilah (the middle child) so Intervened and mocha ended up biting me. Is it ok to try again or will it just not work?

My piggies sometimes purr at each other and shake their butts at each other. Is this okay? Other than that, sometimes they sleep together and help each other learn about the new cage modifications.
Hi I just found your channel a friend told me about you and I have a really dominant female piggie and a Piggie that isn’t I recommend letting them together in a playpen all day and that gives them time to establish domanence and they won’t fight 😁

Give it time. Its expected for them to hide for several days, or even longer. They will eventually learn you mean food and learn to trust you.
My two boys could not get along and drew blood. They now live happily side by side. I never had a problem with my girls.

My guinea pig hates any other guinea pigs. I once showed her my other two guinea pigs she rumble strutted and teeth chattered and tried to bite them. She has done it with every guinea pig we showed her. But I hold her every day so she doesn’t feel lonely.
You always have such great advice. What are your thoughts on bonding a neutered male with two females. I have rescued a male who is DARLING and already have a set of bonded girls as well as a female trio. I was thinking of trying him with my girl duo in some time. Not sure if you have seen this before. My duo has a 4 yo and a 7 mo old. The male is just a year. Would love to hear your thoughts!
I've seen a male with a herd of female piggies before it is possible! I'd just make sure they all get along and the girls don't gang up on him. So yeah it could definitely work especially since he's neutered
Scotty one of my guinea pigs passed away this passed week and her sister seems lonely without her. She's 13 months old as her sister was. 😥 We don't know what happened because she seemed fine and they never fought so it wasn't a fight. They were gotten together at the same time and loved each other. Anyway what I wanted to know is if we can put a small stuffed animal in the cage with her. I'm wondering if that would comfort her. Thanks.
Yes a stuffed animal will comfort your girl until you are able to find a friend for her. I am so sorry for your loss. I have a collection of stuffed animals that I use for my piggies when they need to be away from their friends.
I am really lucky. I have my family of 6 girl guinea pigs. 🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹. I have A huge mid west home for them. They all get along.

i was given a child piggy and then an elder piggy and then a baby piggy all in the same month O_O the baby and child bonded but i tried introducing the elder, it wasn't working out. :( i have to keep the elder separated. i feel bad because he's just in a regular cage while the other 2 have lots of room in this neato hutch we got them. im looking to get another big cage for Peppi the elder piggy. he lives in the cage placed on top of the hutch. he seems to be okay with it. i let him play on the floor in a small play pen. i have to kick my dogs out tho. hoping to get his larger cage soon!

Do fathers show aggression toward newborn males or females?
In general, adults get along well with babies because they don't see them as a potential threat or rival. Don't put daughter in with daddy (or mommy in with him either) since they can start breeding at just a few weeks old (and mommy can get pregnant again right after giving birth).
I have a question. My pig Sev is on antibiotics Baytril but it tastes awful, can I mix it with anything like recovery food or some mashed banana? It was a fight to get him to take his first dose.
Yes, either of those will help mask the taste of the baytril. I mix my baytril with childlife vitamin c.

Madelaine no not at all! They will get depressed alone but if they can see each other they will just talk to each other like humans

Scotty! I know this video isn't about ringworm but I'm desperate!! My piggy has it on his feet and I don't know if it's safe to put antifungal cream on them, he likes to lick his feet 😭 I've watched all yours and saskias videos about it and no one addresses the feet!!!! Please please help me!!!
Saskia has videos about fungal foot. Yes just soak their feet in the anti fungal shampoo bath and then you can put a small amount of cream it will be OK you have to be diligent it's better to put a little bit on frequently
