I have an 07 Aspen with the 5.7 and thank goodness it’s non vvt. I’ve rebuilt this motor @165k and reused all the hard parts. No scoring, zero damage. I’ll not give this thing up for any amount. Probably the most simple motor that I’ve ever worked on. The vvt just complicates things.
Dude chevys displacement on demand bullshit is the same sort of issue. "Hey we wrecked a reliable V8 for yall.... Why aint ya running out to buy our new shite heap vehicles?" Ahhhhh OEM manufacturers Without them maybe the vehicles would run reliably.
