I shot a wedding this past weekend and my Siii got lasered. 800 dollar repair parts and repair.. I had my FX3 pointing right into the lasers and noting happen to it. Thanks for the video brother.
Hey man, sorry to hear that happened! Thanks for the update on the price as well. On the brighter side Im happy that the FX3 is safe atleast. Remember to like and subscribe, thanks!
This is mentioned in the manual but who else read it 😅 this happened too on my canon camera. I used 50mm with aperture set to f1.8. Although they mentioned it is not covered by the warranty but they replaced my camera sensor for free ❤
Damn , well I did read it in articles but yea, I just skim through manuals to read about features. Thanks for stopping by, remember to like and subscribe.
Happened to my sony a7 iv They said they will cover the sensor this time Only once lol So the question now is Is there any weather sealing left after changing the sensor ?
@nequinpetro4688 in you manual should have the warranty support contacts. There you will find Sony customer support email addresses etc. you can also google it . Sony customer support
Hi, thanks for letting us know about permanent damage, but I would also like to introduce you to stuff that temporarily wrecks your video. Banding, there's banding in the background of this video. You either change your FPS to your native country's one, which is either 24fps or 25fps, 24fps for North America standards and 25fps for UK standards, or reduce shutter speed, or swop out the lights.
Also, don't aim it at the sun. And don't stare at the sun, and don't let a laser point directly into your eye. And don't shoot a laser pointer at a airplane pilot in action. Also, don't shoot a gun to your head.
I went to buy a used a6400, and while everything was fine, there's small red megenta line in the middle, you can only see it when you take a picture of a white wall, asked a round and they told me it was laser damage, couldn't believe it, I guess I'm going back to shooting canon, crazy how expensive these cameras are and how fragile they make them
I believe any camera will get damaged by laser, that’s unfortunate tho. Sorry to hear, try doing a pixel remapping on the sensor and see of that helps. You can find it in the settings
That's why I don't like used products for this type of stuff like cameras, phones, computers... Sometimes it's fine and you made a very good deal, but other times you got scammed, it's too much hit or miss
Hi, I was jsut thinking. I alway have my vari ND filters ON, even if I film indoor ( dont have t take them off ) maight this protect the sensor maybe, at least a tiny bit ?
Maybe it might, but lasers lights are a little more penetrating than regular light beans because they are concentrated. I cant say for certain, so just be careful. Cheers and remember to like and subscribe. 🙂
Hey, sorry to hear this happened, no way to protect the sensor as far as I know. Someone asked about a potential filter, but I haven’t seen a product like this for cameras. Maybe try a Reddit search and see if you find a thread. Remember to like and subscribe. 🙂
May I ask, will the sensor in my 5dm3 ruin if I'm using it for webcam? My lessons are usually 3 hours long, once a week. The battery usually lasts just about 3 hours fully charged.
Flash can’t , direct sunlight can, The lens in front of it acts like a magnifying glass and will focus the energy on a very small area , so the possibility exists. Thing won’t happen for general use , but if you were to zoom into the sun etc , different story.
Kindly reply!!! I have a different question though...Samyang has definitely better image quality but I am facing some problem with samyang 24-70 f2.8 while pairing with sony a7 iv ( I have updated sony firmware to the latest version). Whenever I try to take portrait and eye AF is on, it focuses either little bit before or behind the eye even with any object when I try to engage touch Af. Similar I have tried with Sony GM lens and sigma art 24-70 f2.8 I didn't find the same issue. But for video shoot there is no such problem... Can you please give me any suggestion?
Focus drift is something that can happen with any lens. There are a few ways to Fix . Either you try updating this firmware using their dock and see if that helps. Next would be to out to samyang and claim warranty or have it replaced/returned. Lastly will be to adjust focus compensation this is by using settings in the camera. Try searching UA-cam to see how to do this as it is much to explain. Let me know if this helps and remember to like and subscribe!

Ya this sucka. And I have been aware. What is extremely difficult is trying to explain to a wedding DJ that his lasers will break your camera. They suck are amateur and Chavet has a couple of lightbars with lasers. If there was only an eazy way to fry and break a laser setup.

Have you tried doing a pixel remapping? Try searching "how to fix a hot pixel or a stuck pixel" on youtube Red or green dots are sometimes very easy to fix and are most commonly created by overheating of the sensor. I doubt Sony would lie about your sensor being laser damaged, but you never know, easy way to get an extra 500$ for them
Use a small format camcorder and set the internal ND to max (usually 1/64) and you can get away with filming most show lasers, unless it's too close or for too long. I filmed dozens of events with lasers with an AX700 set to 1/64 ND, and it's still working perfectly fine today. Just that a small sensor with heavy ND would usually give you more noise than image, but there's nothing AI denoising can't fix.
Hey man, it isn’t covered under warranty however I did read on Reddit that someone just claimed warranty and got through, they just said that the camera stopped working. So yea there’s that.
Atomos external recorder or FX3. Test it on high and see how long of a record time u get, or return it. I get 50mins before warning on normal heat setting, in 4K 24.
Hey man, I wont want to risk testing that idea , the only thing is reaching out to maybe a hardware developer for NDs and asking for them to develop laser filters for the respective range or wavelengths. They sell protective laser glasses for people that use laser etchers so maybe a laser filter is a viable design option. Remember You can show your support by liking and subscribing to the channel!
Don’t shoot where there are lasers, get camera insurance coverage from your insurance company or check out Professional Photographers of America. Buy extended warranty, find out if the client or the venue has insurance coverage for devices etc. That’s it! Not much you can do when it comes to the lasers!

30fps in 60Hz countries, surely, not 24fps. And, like you said correctly, 25fps in 50Hz countries.
