I've talked about David Silva's Beasts of the Mesozoic several times for the Weekly but finally getting one in my grubby mitts? I love the Diabloceratops from the Beasts of the Mesozoic: Ceratopsian Series! I think I need more dinosaurs in the display...

Love me some Beasts of the Mesozoic dinos. Glad the line is still thriving. I have a few of their Raptors and they are beautifully crafted figures.
Don't forget that they're releasing a Tyrannosaur line next year!
I'm so glad these seem better than the raptors. Not that the raptors were bad, but they had some trouble standing and inaccurate outward facing eyes. This looks much more accurate as well as much more appealing looking. When I think of raptors I think of Emily Willoughby's beautiful artwork, and the figures were just too clunky for my taste. This looks like a huge improvement. I'll have to get a triceratops, styracosaurus and protoceratops (to go with my velociraptor). Can't wait to see more from this line and I'm especially looking forward to the tyrannosaurs.
BOTM is hands down my favorite action figure line....ever. I love the articulation. I love the accuracy. I love everything about them. And the diablo is actually the ceratopsin I ordered!! And since I collect 1:18 they go perfectly with everything else in my collection. You noticed the thin head. Interestingly enough nearly all dinos in media have heads that are too wide compared to their real counterparts. Not all...but very very many. Thanks for reviewing this guy!! Really, more people need to hear about these.

You've definitely convinced me to get one of these, I have one of his raptors but I have a soft spot for ceratopsians. Hopefully the articulation has improved some because with my fan's choice pyroraptor it was a 50/50 with way too stiff joints or too loose joints, otherwise it's a great figure.
The color scheme keeps reminding me of TC’s helicopter from Magnum PI

@@TheFwoosh I've been meaning to ask this question to anyone who will answer it; when a company sends you a copy of their product to review, do they let you keep it or do you have to give it back when you're done reviewing?. And yes, I know it's a potentially stupid question to ask.

I am SO stoked to get mine! I worked as a professional dinosaur sculptor for eight years (NOT AS FUN AS IT SOUNDS!), so this is something I'm pretty excited about! Sculpted a Diabloceratops and, my favorite, Pachyrhinosaurus, so I'm super eager to see these.
Diabloceratops is my first! He's badass! Stiff joints but they loosen up as you mess with it.
Definitely going to buy more!
Also I spent 15 minutes trying to strongarm the tail on before realizing that hot water was the answer lmaoooo

Ceratopsian dinosaurs were so cool.
Their jaws were INCREDIBLY strong and their teeth and beak were very sharp. Imagine a pair of garden shears: That's what a ceratopsian's jaws would have been like. Predators not only had to fear the horns, but the jaws.
There's a famous fossil called "The fighting dinosaurs" and it has a Protoceratops (Think a pig-sized Triceratops with no horns) locked in combat with a Velociraptor. The raptor has its toe claw buried in the herbivore's gut, but the Protoceratops has its jaws locked on the raptor's arm. Google it, it's one of the most beautiful dinosaur fossils ever discovered!

Ah, the ol' "put the tail in a cup of hot water" instructions, I know those well from the NECA Godzilla figures.
David did sculpt most of the neca Godzillas, so that does make sense.

My god I miss Dino-Riders. How do you make realistic dinosaurs even better? Rocket launchers and lazer guns. I feel terrible wanting to strap sci-fi weapons to such an awesome sculpt and paint job, but the heart wants what the hearts wants I suppose. My heart wants dinosaurs with rocket launchers.
