I started Empress Rising from scratch last time we spoke. I couldn't get an isolated track from the guys, so It took me some time to translate drums to MIDI. I was also tweaking with the effects for the intro, got a nice combination from The Dephts + Afterneath and some wah to make it crunchier. As always it's great to see your lessons dude. You always have a different view and I end up mixing both ways, same happened with Orchard! @@DoesItDoom

The Sword songs are pretty straightforward they actually mostly dont use the intervals of doom they stick to the natural minor or pentatonic scales.... very traditional. I learned a few of their songs by ear from 4 different albums, and yeah theyre quite traditional & intuitive. Nevertheless I fkn love the Sword! Gods of thr Earth is my alltime #2 favorite album and their songs are super awesome and theyre in my top 5 bands of all time \,,/

I have not. If I take the time to learn it I generally teach it as well. My advice is to tune your guitar to B Standard and try playing along with live footage here on UA-cam. Use the slow down feature as needed. It will get you closer than a typical internet tab will more often than not.

Are you working this out by ear, and if so, do you have a decent tab? I read sheet music and really dig being able to read the rhythms on well transcribed tabs.
I work it out by ear while studying live concert footage of the band playing the song. No tabs unfortunately. Right now I just don’t have the time to put that stuff together (wish I did!)
@@DoesItDoom I totally understand the time constraints - I haven't gotten into transcribing rhythms myself for the same reason. It's time consuming! The tutorials are great though! The live concert footage makes a huge difference, your Dragonaut tutorial is the only one I've found that gets it right and it made a huge difference for me. Thanks for all the hard work!
some people don't like baritones because the longer fret spacing can be a pain, and also sometimes they can have tuning stability problems due to the longer neck.

Low output pickups, clean amp. I think that octave up in the hyperfuzz had that character to an extent.
Oh okay, i guess ive only got high output pickups on most of my guitars. Is there a way to still get that good of a tone on high output?

This might be a stupid question but why not use a baritone for B standard? Or can you restring a regular 6-string with a baritone string set?
You can. I have just always used standard scale guitars, as did all of the guitarists I learned from early on.
some people don't like baritones because the longer fret spacing can be a pain, and also sometimes they can have tuning stability problems due to the longer neck.
I know I'm a little late, but do you remember what your amp settings were?
Typically I run it on the clean channel with treble at 9 o’clock, mids at noon, bass max. I’m sure it was close to that.

I’d say there is a decent difference, yeah. I have a 49 on one of my SG’s and a 52 on another and I notice a difference between them.
