      Holds as much material as a 12"pan more without the dam in. We use it for exploration and sampling as this is our job we arnt placer miners, it's a perfect field tool and much better for what we do than a bulky conventional pan. Whatever works for you it's not for everyone

      It's fun to see new ideas, But I'll stick with my black plastic 16" round pan with one set of riffles on only one side of the pan. It works great for me! Good luck with your new design, I'd probably lose those clear plastic dams pretty quickly.

      @@911mining - I wouldn't doubt that it retains really fine gold better than a regular 12" -- the way it sort of forces you to slowly work the material over the riffles. Cuts out *oops* occurrences. And with a regular pan _some_ really fine gold just won't make it to the bottom of your material with typical amounts of agitation, I would suspect, and so gets washed off.
      I think there's probably room for some modifications to the back to improve cleanup.

    Im totally new to gold panning, but that side to side action looks like it has a lot of potential to push some gold up from the riffles, so it gets rinsed out together with the other material. Even though gold is heavier than other stuff, a small piece of gold will still move when enough other material pushes on it...

    FOR THE CRITICS. SHOW ME A ROUND GOLD PAN WHERE THE FULL LENGTH OF THE RIFFLES ARE IN USE ALL OF THE TIME, AND WHERE EVERY SCRAP OF GRAVEL IS FORCED TO INTERACT WITH ALL 4 RIFFLES BEFORE BEING DISCARDED. MINE ADDS UP TO 42" OF RIFFLE WORKING 100% OF THE TIME. THAT'S WHAT MAKE THIS PAN FAST AND EFFECTIVE. ....... THINK ABOUT IT, AND MAKE THE COMPARISON. Al Dampier - Placertools

      I would improve it by making the back round like a conventional pan and then i would say you have the best pan in the world!

    Works all most the same way as the gold claw , but it looks as it takes longer then the gold claw. The difference I see is you have to manually remove the bigger rock with the bar across . Where the gold claw all you have keep doing is making it all most vertical in the water .
    Not saying it a bad idea but I`d have to see a live demo and use it that way to decide if I wanted one or not. As of now my choice is the gold claw since I can not get the round pan down on using it I tried and bought the gold claw at a gpaa gold and treasure show few years ago .

    Just how long would it take to process a yard of material with that thing? Remember dirt in is proportional to gold out. Forty (5 gal) buckets is a yard. It looks like a toy. You could easily pan 4 or 5 times as much dirt in the same time with a real pan.

    • @911mining
      @911mining  4 роки тому +1

      We don't really care if people like it or don't, it works really well for us which is why we use it. The other thing is we don't get paid to make these videos we do it because it works, exploration is our job we know what works for us so well continue to use what we like. Plain and simple.
      If a conventional pan works for you use that, we still do sometimes too, we do a lot of remote sampling, this pans perfect for that because it is excellent for very fine gold recovery, it's small enough to fit in the back of our vests, holds the same material as a regular 12" pan, less panning time, excellent for areas with less than 2" of water, there's many reasons, we rarely proscess a yard of material to recover gold because we arnt placer miners, we do exploration mostly and it's the perfect tool fo that its not for everyone but it's for us.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm not convinced as of yet. I would love to try it out, Out here in the desert we often pan out of a tub of water. That being said it seems that it could fit better in a tub than a traditional pan would. I have used non traditional shaped pans in the past and have always gone back to the traditional pan in the end. If I ever get the chance to use one I will try it for sure, so that I could do a side by side comparison with my traditional pan. I would love to see if there is a comparable amount of loss over the riffles. Thanks. Undecided

    Be nice if he showed how to get the material out from the riffels for final clean up in the very small side area of the pan , the video cuts every time and the material is suddenly in the bottom on the pan. This is the most awkward bit and should be shown. Also how much material can the pan take, looks ting compared to a round pan ? As Justin is using this pan in all his future videos I guess we will see this process later on.

    • @911mining

      This wasn't a review video we have been using this pan for months now, it was merely about testing the new styles of dams to see what one we like best and we decided to film it. We have already done a lot of testing on the pan including lab analysis of the tailings to show what pan lost more fine gold in the tailings. Getting the material out of the riffles takes a bit because there so deep you can wash back, squirt water in with a snuffer, or scoop water in and wash it back there are many ways. If you tilt the pan back it usually only takes a few wash backs to get the material out.

      Well use both they both work, we use what we have with us at the time. This one easily fits in the back of our vests so it works well for long hikes, sampling, fine gold recovery, not saying a conventional pan is bad and well still use them just this is easier choice for what we do.
