My radio keeps switching the active band when APRE is received. It didn’t used to to that. It would stay on the bottom. What did I change to cause that to happen?
I am a tech studying for general. Live in new neighborhood with strict HOA. I also spend 3-4 days a week at my parents caregiving for them 40 minutes away from home. I have been wanting to get HF rig to get on 10m ssb (techs can do that) and start setting up my digital packet stuff (FT8 and winlink). I wanted a rig and antenna I could setup and take down and move around and POTA. I saved up for an FT710 (ultimate HF rig) but it would have tapped out my funds (no money left for antennas and POTA stuff). I have been watching vids on Xiegu G90. Portable, has great antenna tuner, waterfall, does digital without too much hassle, has 20w (which is way better then 5w of most portable QRP rigs). I found a super clean used G90 with a bunch of extras would have ran me about $650 new, got for $420. So, getting a Nelson EFHW and setting up me first HF. Very excited. KD9IRA
Do you know what it means when the radio receives a “duplicate signal”. I often get duplicates but I don’t understand how the radio determines what is a duplicate and what isn’t i.e. the difference between “NE” and “DE”. It seems so random for me. Sometimes I’m picking up the same station over and over and it constantly comes in as “NE”, shouldn’t it come in as “DE” since I already have the station in the list?
Another great tips video. So, does A12 mean that it's at 1200 baud rate? And does the LOG also have to be showing next to the GPS symbol. Thanks for sharing. KC3UEE
@@chrisp3193 The stock electric interface will be the same on either of those radios. And Max output of 50w is the same as well, which means you could use this for either option.
Hey, great vid. Could you demonstrate how receiving and transmitting beacons work while A band is busy? FTM-100 had serious issue with dual watch, which rendered simultaneous repeater & APRS work impossible. Is this truly fixed in FTM-200?
This is helpful for learning how to adjust settings. But, I am new. I have no idea what APRS is or what I would use it for. So.... what is it?

Thanks! Yes, the 12 refers to baud rate. That would change if you change that setting. The log symbol shouldn't matter for APRS.
What power adapter do you use for in the house?
Thanks for stopping by the channel Chris. I picked up the Yaesu FP-1023A paired with Yaesu DC Power Cables T90217152
No problem thanks for the reply!
@@HamRadioHobbyist prob a dumb question. But will the same power supply work with the ftm 4&500?

Looks like Yaesu has complicated APRS. Ugg.

Thanks for the idea, I'll look into it!
can the APRS freq be in a memory channel, or is it forced to be in VFO mode?
Can be saved to a memory channel. You then just have that saved channel assigned to B Band.
Just got me a used G90. U got HF yet?
on my to do list!
