I have a thing about Yaesu menus, I get them! I'm a nerd, so... Anyway I learned a bunch from this video and should I get a FTM-200DR I will refer to it. I did miss a couple of your points about the action a function takes when you did not tell us the change was shown on the display as a change of function/color/name. I did finally notice the one I kept missing, but that's because I have a rewind button. 73 KN6ZVI

Do you know what it means when the radio receives a “duplicate signal”. I often get duplicates but I don’t understand how the radio determines what is a duplicate and what isn’t i.e. the difference between “NE” and “DE”. It seems so random for me. Sometimes I’m picking up the same station over and over and it constantly comes in as “NE”, shouldn’t it come in as “DE” since I already have the station in the list?

So I bought the FT-65 for this very reason. Can’t afford a dual VFO and cheap radios are cheap. I can’t buy the yagi yet, I may home-brew, but I’d love to see how well 😅the 65 functions on Space Station or satellites. Have you done this? If so, I checked your channel, why don’t you make a video doing so. Great video and thanks!

Thanks for the video. You made one error in the cal procedure. The calibration point is the end of the SO239 when you connected that adapter. Calibration should be made at the SO239 end. That is your open, short and load should be made there, not at the VNA itself. By doing this, you remove the adapter cable and move the calibration point to where it belongs, where the antenna is connected.

Aursinc NanoVNA H4 is the genuine version. LiteVNA is another - has updatable firmware and can be used with 3rd party software. I just ordered NanoVNA H4 to get started. If I break it, well...not much cost!

I got two uv5rs, and neither of them has ever picked up anything in the two years I've had them. They are jailbroken/programmed whatever you wanna call it. Just never heard anything. Now I've also been told nobody uses any of the bands around where I live, so I ordered one of these last night. Hopefully I can get it to pick up something, if not I guess I'll quit being weird and just use my cell phone like a normal person.

Are you setting your frequencies or just randomly listening on various frequencies? Most frequencies you probably will never hear a thing...learn how to program in your local repeaters with a programming cable and CHIRP software. If you have the FRS and GMRS frequencies unlocked, program them in as well. There are also GMRS repeaters in areas that are often pretty active (you technically need a GMRS license to transmit on the GMRS channels, no license needed on FRS channels). You should find some people talking that way unless you're too far out of range. If you have a local ham radio club, attend a meeting and they will often assist new folks in using their radios.

Yaesu has lost their way with the latest FTM UHF/VHF radios. I still have my ft-8800 and it is far and away a much better radio (yeah I know, no digital) In this modern era of much more powerful processors and color displays, these radios should all still have memory banks and also the hyper memory keys that make scanning and changing radio channels so easy! Very sad!!

Interesting, making custom scan lists. But why not use the M-GRP function (in ADMS-12 also) to do this? It is fairly easy to add a half dozen channels from the front panel. See page 38 in the manual. By the way, the new FTM-500 firmware allows saving up to 4 MEM (and 4 profile and 4 config) files on the SD card, restorable from the menu. Not memory groups but close. 73

This may be old news to you but the little tab you're pushing is the actual locking tab. If you look on the opposite end of the mount, there's an actual lever to depress, releasing that tab. However, it looks as though your mounting configuration may prevent access to the lever.

I see this is about 1 year old. Maybe you have discovered this already? 2 things: 1) You can change the items in the quick menu to other ones. 2) The long menu is organized by function groups. Using the up/down buttons on the mic will move you up by groups very quickly.

Best I've seen. Why? I'm a new ham setting up my station and I bought the nanoVNA H4 as the most economical SWR test device on the market for helping set up an antenna. I discovered, as many have, that it comes with no instructions whatsoever. I looked a t a few other videos before I found this one. Had this been first, I would have been happy. That said, I do plan to explore at least a few of the many capabilities the nanoVHA has.

I just don’t use it often enough to remember the simple manipulation every time even though it’s not that complicated… Your short video makes it easy to undestand and takes the complexity away from it. Good job ! It’s a great tool and I wish I could do more in the shack or in the car with it. Please post other tutorial that are amateur radio oriented for the NanoVNA.
