I wonder what childhood trauma you suffered that you want to spend so much time “reviewing” a state you seem to hate. Sorry for your poor childhood, broken relationship, lost job, crappy vacation, whatever in WI. Really. Time to move on.
I am born and raised in Milwaukee. I moved away to be a flight attendant in 2000. After having lived in NYC, Belgium, Berlin and Tokyo for 15 years total I moved back home. I can tell you there is no place like Wisconsin. Even with our faults politically or whatever we still have what I love. I’ll never leave again.
I started with UA in MKE in 1997 The city has improved a lot and it’s very beautiful with a lot of great restaurants. I really don’t understand that one being on the list. Of course there’s bad areas but every town has that. So many unique neighborhoods like the third ward district, tons of diversity and gorgeous views of the lake.
I used to live in Kenosha. I've been in Illinois for the last decade (not really by choice) and went back to town a couple months ago. While I still love Kenosha, I couldn't wait to get out of Milwaukee. There was a homeless person with a sign asking for money at literally the very first exit, and several more homeless just wandering around. It was the middle of the afternoon. Many of the streets felt dirty and narrow. Many of the buildings felt dumpy. I wouldn't want to be in this area at night. I'm glad that you love it but I don't know, even as a relatively local resident I can't say that I'd want to live in Milwaukee. Maybe there are some nice suburbs away from the interstate and downtown area, I don't know.
This makes Wisconsin look like candy land compared to most other 10 worst in other states! I love living here! Deer hunting, beer, snowmobiling, Motorcycling, Utving, fishing year round. Smelling fresh cut grass in the spring.... Most any bar you go you will find 5 star food not to mention Friday night fish fry! 4 season change is a must have! I do not live far from portage and have been to many of the towns you mentioned. I believe its the drug pandemic that has captured the U.S.A. in a whole that brings such a sad crime rate, suicide and most any other crime to any village, town or city. Beautiful scenery and Kind people!
Early childhood was spent around Pelican Lake. I have fond memories of Wisconsin, but they were filtered through child lenses. 🙂 From what I recall, it was beautiful. My next door neighbor was my best friend. A lot of supper clubs, vivid autumns, excellent hunting and fishing, and active Native American representation. 💜
We're from Northern IL and recently we started to come up for vacation to northern WI, right along the hwy 8 mark where the north woods start. Best food, beer, cheese, and yes I would love to find a place to hunt around turtle lake area..
@@oneida32 it's not false though...a lot of the city is complete trash that is fueled by crooked politicians. I moved down here for my girlfriend at the time but we quickly moved and got a house farther north. You can't say milwaukee is a great city when there are more shootings annually than Chicago.
Targets headquarters is in Minnesota so technically every Midwest state other than Minnesota lmfao or more like everywhere in the Midwest minus Minneapolis specifically
i hate this. I lived in brownsfeild in Louisiana, and Walmart shut down Albertsons, Winn Dixie, Rite Aid, and a bunch of other small scale places in the area. I know Albertsons and the other stores are pretty big too, but you had options as opposed to one overcrowded Walmart.
Moved to Milwaukee from IL and love it. Friendly people, parking everywhere, tons of bars and restaurants, everything is right there. Some areas are dangerous but I was born and raised in Russia so I'm desensitized to that stuff.
I've heard these phrases... "Milwaukee is turning into Chicago" "Racine is turning into Milwaukee" "Kenosha is turning into Racine". I believe those things are likely to be true. If Kenosha doesn't get it together, it is going to be on that list just under Racine.
@@Bonzi_Buddy between Milwaukee and Chicago growing so big there is no hope for Kenosha. It's all one big city now. Look at the 10 lane hwy between them.
Ironically, Brown Deer used to be one of the most affluent cities in Wisconsin. And Portage is very close to Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo, where there are a lot of things to do year round. The crime problems in a lot of Wisconsin cities came about with the rise of gangs. I tried to help improve Wisconsin working with churches and at the mission in Milwaukee, etc. The big issue with my family was the high property taxes. I miss my old home! I even have tried to make things better in Janesville and Beloit.
@@BlackAladdin_ I get milwaukee but I laugh when folks talk about it in all these small towns like Appleton. Try to be banger up here and find out what happens. We are all packing. People don't put up with it
I think these lists are so misleading. I've lived in Wisconsin all my life. I've spent time in every city in this video except Antigo. The only one on the list I agree with is Racine. I would move to any of the rest of them. I was in Beloit last night grocery shopping and I wasn't afraid for my life. Full disclosure, a lot of Wisconsinites do dislike and fear Beloit, but I wonder how many of them have spent much time there. It does have a nice downtown area, good people, some really nice neighborhoods and the best Farmer's Market around. People all over in Wisconsin are generally friendly. It's not the most diverse or sophisticated place to live, but it's charming and laid back and you can't beat the scenery. By and large, we also don't have to worry about hurricanes, earth quakes and wild fires. We don't even seem to get as many tornadoes, floods or ice storms as nearby states. It gets cold and hot here, but not too extreme. By the way, ice fishing may be bigger in WI than other places, but not everyone here ice fishes. I've never been and I never will. I know very few people who have ever been ice fishing. It seems like creators of these kinds of videos rely heavily on statistics, which don't always paint an accurate picture. I think they should take the time to talk to a good cross section of people who live in these places to get an idea of what they're actually like.
I was born and raised in WI, still living here and I find your passion and love for defending this great state both commendable and a little shortsighted. Nick is poking fun at some of the mannerisms people carry about this state and honestly most of the small towns and most of the list he shared was only bad in one impacting way.If you want to make a video, then make your own. But based on what you said, your top 10 worst places to live in WI would probably consist of one city and 9 from IL. And it’s a joke that we all ice fish. He’s just pointing out how limited there is to do in a state where your four seasons are Summer, Pre-Winter, Actual Winter and Post-Winter. But in my hometown of Reedsburg, kids in high school would wear their hunting camouflage to school, ride tractors to school, get drunk off their parents liquor on the weekends, do drugs in a park one city block away from where I lived, or they ate cheese and went icefishing. Small towns have very little things to do and if parents don’t direct their kids or don’t actively fill their lives with alternatives, these things happen. He can joke we all drink beer and eat cheese and hunt and icefish because that describes a good percentage of people. Hope this didn’t ruffle you up, and I get not wanting to be lumped in with people you don’t feel you belong. But I think you are taking this list a little too personal. But that’s just my opinion.
I live in Michigan. Same trashing goes on here. But I can go to free outdoor concerts every night in summer in the midmichigan tri-city area. The surrounding areas are afraid to step foot in some towns. The haters need a place to hate. Yes, there is crime, including murder. But, by and large, if you avoid some parts of town and stay home late at night, you'll be okay. The amenities cities offer are amazing: art museums, children's museum, libraries, senior center and services, awesome parks and pools, etc. Small towns have less crime, but less diversity, entertainment, parks, and are often a non-gated gated community. Outsiders are regarded with scorn, fear, suspicion and outright hostility. Even when they smile to your face, they are talking about you behind their back. Not everyone, but a lot.

Interesting, I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I still live in Milwaukee. I remember a time back in the 60s and 70s where everybody was working and everybody was prosperous. Most of the factories that were here are gone now except for a few. We have Miller brewing still here and Harley Davidson. Now, the only jobs that are here are things like Walmart and fast food. Even if you have a degree it’s very hard to find a job here. Calling people lazy isn’t going to help because if there are no jobs what are you going to do? I think what you are seeing here is, hopelessness. I think that if there are decent jobs here, the majority of the people are willing to work.
I’m planning on moving to Milwaukee when I graduate to for a job in engineering. My gf and I are thinking about Walkers Point, Third Ward, and the southern most side of the lower east side.
@@cadethomas5686 if you can afford it try the 3rd ward it will be a lot safer. Make sure to pay for off street parking whenever you move. Alottt of stolen kias rn. Bayview is cute also
S/o to Bill clinton for killing the last wave of good paying jobs in the city... all the gigs that pay more than $23 is usually 30-40 mins away from the city... make you wonder why it's like that.
@@cadethomas5686 I personally would move to Brookfield or New Berlin if you want the Milwaukee area. Unless of course you want the city life, which if you do 3rd ward is definitely an ideal place to go.
I live in Wisconsin and my city didn’t make this list because I know its a great place to live. The issue now is ppl from Chicago corrupting our state.
I have visited Wisconsin for work twice and I just love it so much, the people is so nice and they love to show you around, cheese is amazing, views are beautiful, watching a packer's game with locals is just a great experience, everyone is friend with everyone, I love visiting this place. I have met people that invite me to their houses and I made some great friends there! But if you don't have a car, you are super screwed
I you live full time in Wisconsin , you will find some very strange people . I have lived in Wisconsin for over ten years, and I often feel like I am in a foreign country .
@@issuesthatmatter2825 It would be worse if it were Republican run. There would probably be more homeless people and crime since Republicans don’t like putting money into programs that help people. The roads would be even worse than they are now.
I lived in Antigo as a child exactly 40 years ago. My memories of the place are very fond. IMO, it was the near perfect size at around 10,000 people. Big enough to have fast food and decent stores, but not big enough to have big city problems. At that time, thanks to the town being at the intersection of two fairly busy state highways, there were three fine dining restaurants - Stimach's, Loefler's, and The Blackjack- which were pretty impressive for a town of that size. It wouldn't surprise me if they were all closed now. I can't comment on what the town is like now. I just know it was a great place to be a kid back then.
yeah, it sucks here now. all three of those places have closed down. all they do is the make multiple gas stations for some reason, and fix roads that don't need fixing... not to mention all the people here are miserable druggies who don't want to be here.
Yeah they use to have some pretty cool Liquidation shops ,and a place it was like a treasure hunt to shopping ,we use to go all the time ,I'm sure these shops are gone by now?
In 1976 I was an 18-year-old lad living in Ashland Wis. and there wasn't much crime at all. The people were very friendly and everyone seemed to know each other. It was a terrific place to live if you were a sportsman. Northland College is in Ashland and they kept it stocked with lots of college girls. My friend had a band that played at the Airport Inn just south of town and it was a great place to drink and dance on the weekends. I moved away quite some time ago, but living there I always felt at ease, and it was some of the best days of my life.
@@ameliab7245 Do I hear a representative from the Woke crowd chiming in? Some people will walk 4 blocks out of their way through a blizzard just to be butt hurt. It's no wonder your girlfriend cheats on you sugar.
You shouldn't immediately call people lazy because they are unemployed. A) it's covid times B) these are the types of small places where the industries are shrinking or leaving, due to changing times. When there aren't open businesses or companies, there aren't jobs.
Shrinking businesses due to boneheaded employees that are union workers, for example, Jacobsen textron, the company didn’t go out of business they moved to North Carolina to get away from the boneheaded union workers.
Wisconsin resident here, Manawa. I was raised in Illinois, and the worst places in Wisconsin, except Milwaukee, are still way better than any place in Illinois. I wish FIBs would stop moving here, and Milwaukee Gang bangers. I love Wisconsin.
I graduated college at Wisconsin and lived in Madison and whitewater. Both were amazing people, great beer, great cities in their own right. There are days that I miss the dairy land but after living in Ithaca NY, Phoenix, Dana Point, California, and now Florida I have to say I don't miss the long winters. Good list Nick
Been around the world and back and Madison will always be home. Yes, the winters are cold, but compared to Denver or Berlin it's prettier to get the low glow of snow covered trees than blinding sunlight and melt or a sad quarter inch of snow with kids trying desperately to make use of a sled. It's been a wild, mild winter. But at least we have seasons.
Lifelong Florida resident here, with heat index’s of 115°+ becoming common place, I am GLAD to give a long winter a chance. The summers here are absolutely brutal on those with physical jobs.
I was born and raised in Kenosha and people say that never leaving the town you grew up in is a bad thing but honestly as I grew up so has Kenosha. So yes I may have lived here my whole life it has been getting bigger and better along with me so in a way Kenosha has not been the same town this whole time it has constantly been changing throughout the years.
@Lavender Gooms haha 😄 Ya the spots burgers were killer. But now there is new owners and the burgers are still good just not as good and I am actually friends with the daughter of the owners of the Villa down by the lake. She is currently working for the local government like driving busses an other positions. But anyway ya crazy little town we got going on here.
I disagree completely. Kenosha is going down the tubes. Sure, there are some things that are better but some of the negatives outweigh the positives. Not being overly dependent on the auto industry is a huge plus, but the political leadership is corrupt, the schools are SHODDY and the school board incompetent. Tony Evers throwing fuel on the fire and the mayor/police of Kenosha allowing the city to burn for days certainly didn't help. Anyone who thinks this place has gotten better isn't paying attention. Crime is worse, the lake area is mismanaged and a general zoo (they have restricted parking down by the harbor and will ticket people minutes after 7 PM when it is still light until 9:30 PM.), the cliquey downtown scene...no thanks. It isn't that special to be treating it so. It is laughable. People drive like maniacs all over town with fatalities every year in places with 30-35 MPH speed limits. That just shouldn't be happening. These things could be dealt with but it is obvious the leaders and police do not care to deal with those problems. The fact they refuse to somehow get a bus route out to walmart and has repeatedly shut down walmart locations in the city says it all. Government = Full of leftist clowns. That closed Pick N Save in the hood is hilarious. That's Kenosha for you. Following in Racine's footsteps. You think Kenosha is good? You live in White Caps area? You know nothing!!!!! Come take a walk on 19th Ave by 60th Street this Friday night.
@@Bonzi_Buddy I wouldn’t go down 19th and 60th in the daytime. Basically everything south of 52nd all the way down to like 75th is the hood and out to like 30th ave. Did you hear about the kid that got stabbed at Bradford? It’s a rough area. Yeah white caps is nice, pleasant prairie but anywhere right in the city is rough. Think about Racine down on Goold. The north side of Goold is relatively nice going up to Caledonia but just one street over and you’re in arguably the roughest neighborhood in the city. County is a lot nicer, Bristol, Salem, twin lakes etc. Question: where is the pick n save in the hood that closed?
Moved from Waco,Tx to Appleton,WI. Practically every town in Wisconsin has a small town feel, even towns like Appleton. Everything feels just more laid back. Tons of rivers nearby that have very good kayak fishing for smallmouth bass (Wolf, Embarrass,Red Rivers) If your into road biking the countryside has some of the smoothest roads with hardly any traffic. Rib mountain is a nice little ski hill in Wausau. 5 hrs away is Mt. Bohemia in the UP. Appleton has a very good comedy club that every now and then has some bigger names come through. The airport (ATW) is super easy to fly out of. Tons of golf courses everywhere. Shiocton has a great rifle/pistol outdoor range that is just amazing. Oshkosh has EAA event every year if you are into aviation. Door county is not far away at all and is a slice of heaven. Devils lake state park is not too far away and is the best park in the state hands down. Just go there youll see what im talking about. Wisconsin isn't all flat, if you go to the southwest corner the hills get more abrupt/steep and just a joy to cycle through country roads for a workout.
The Fox Valley down to Oshkosh is a good place for families. The unglaciated southwest corner is like no where else, it was called God's country for decades.
All Wisconsinites unite! I love my fellow Wisconsinites defending our amazing state. All states have the bad places but Wisconsin definitely is one of the safer states out of the United States. I love my dairy land state Wisconsin and will lay down my life for it
Milwaukee is definitely the most dangerous city in the state. Been here my whole life and I've seen it go from bad to worse. Not all bad though, the city really has so much culture and history that is just amazing
I lived in Rapids for 15 years, and I had a ton of friends who lived there. I never knew anyone who had been robbed or been a victim of a crime. And I lived on the sketchy side of the river, and I rarely heard of any crimes in my neighborhood

Referring to Racine’s “mega prom”, that clip was from the Night To Remember prom, which is for special needs students in that area who can’t go to their schools proms. It’s a super dope event, I’ve volunteered there as a chaperone a few years. It’s very inclusive, accessible and accommodating.
I thought I might find this entertaining since I grew up in this state, recently moved back after 25 years in Illinois to be near my father before he departed this life last year, and have decided to stay. I may have finished the video if I could get past the tone deaf arrogance of the creator. While there are certainly those out there who would abuse the system, equating unemployment with laziness and the solution to the plague of opiate and meth addiction being "take your worthless self back to Illinois", are both statements of zero compassion, consequence and worth.
Wisconsin is an awesome place to live. I used to live in a small town, and that small town had a great school nearby. So now it's not really a small town anymore, but it shows how great schools can completely change the profile of an area that you live in

Brown Deer was so bad even in the 1980's. We seen alot of destruction of homes being built, graffiti, and the Northridge mall became a very dangerous place to go with gangs. It was once really nice.
I live in janesville and have lived in beloit. Its just like any other city, if you want to find bad stuff you can, if you don't, just stay away from the bad areas and you will be ok. The kids nowadays in Janesville are a hell of alot more disrespectful than the kids in beloit
What's wrong with living in a bad town in Wisconsin? In the bad towns in Illinois if someone steals your TV, you just break into your neighbour's home and steal theirs!
I love how innacurate all the Wisconsin stereotypes are. I saw more cheese when I lived in MN than here. It's mostly just a bunch of woods and hunting guys in flannel.
I absolutely love Wisconsin. I've lived here most of my life. I'm in Janesville. I'm not a city dude at all but after living here for 7 years I'd say it's a pretty good city
As someone who moved from Madison to Milwaukee I have to say the difference has been night and day. I don’t think any neighborhood in Madison even comes to close to how dangerous some areas of Milwaukee are. I still like Milwaukee though, there’s a lot more to do and believe it or not it feels more laidback in spite of being much larger.
Milwaukee is one of if not the most segregated cities in the country and it shows when you drive through it. If you know where to go and where not to go (and that might be a block difference) it's a pretty cool city.
Not everyone on welfare is a lowlife. Some are unfortunately just physically unable to work even though they’d really like to. They have back problems or something that keeps them from working but can’t get disability because it’s damn near impossible to get it with a bad back or gut problems. But then there’s also a good portion that are.
I have back problems and work. You can find desk jobs. Be a telemarketer. Work in sales. Ive seen nurses with huge physical impairments that still work . They dont live off the system making excuses.
Milwaukee has its downsides, but it has a ton of upsides as well. I wouldn't say Milwaukee is a bad place to live overall. And Wisconsin in general is paradise for someone like me who grew up on the East Coast
Been a Wisconsin resident for 40+ years. I've been to some scary places in Milwaukee. The worst one that I lived at was a house on 15th and National. There was a big gang house right down the block. I remember sitting on my front steps one day and seeing 2 dudes open somebody's car and beat the crap out of the driver. Also heard gunshots on another occasion. There are certainly worse parts of the city, but that one was bad as well. The best place I lived was Appleton. The city's economy seemed to be doing really well, the schools were great, and most of the people were super nice. Would like to get a place there again sometime in the future. Also, spent a night in Antigo over 25 years ago. Me and my underage buddy managed to get into one of the local bars. Would have had a good time if it weren't for the dullards selecting 'Achy Breaky Heart' in the jukebox every 27 minutes.
Middleton & Appleton is growing since I left Madsion in 97. I heard those places is now the best places to live and expensive. My whole families lives there. I was told by my family it's for people with $$$$$$
Growing up and living the majority of my life in Wisconsin I'd honestly say New London and Ashland are not bad at all, you can live a pretty decent life in both places. The other places listed are so-so. I would say the 3 Worse places in the state for sure would be: 1. Racine 2. Beloit 3. The NW side of Milwaukee (which is Extremely ghetto & Dangerous). A large majority of Milwaukee and most of its close outlaying areas are very nice and affordable and can live a really good life here. Stay outta the NW side of MKE and west side of the Marquette U campus- you'll be just fine. Any other majority city I go to though, I hear the same thing about how its 1 of the most segregated cities with dangerous pockets. What major city doesn't have that? Unfortunately its an American phenomenon.
I actually quite like Ashland. Drove through there a few times, on my way up to Madeline Island from my father's old house in Lake Tomahawk. I think Ashland has a nice, old shipping town kind of feel, and the views of Lake Superior are outstanding, though I'm sure winters there are pretty rough.
Precisely! Ashland is pretty nice actually and I’d say 4 outta the 10 towns on this list could be excluded. But Racine, Beloit and NW side and part of the south side of MKE are def dumps!
Great to know that my hometown is rated number one in the worst places to live. I was born in Beloit, graduated from BMHS, worked several places, married and had two children in Beloit. I have one daughter, an ex husband and grandchildren still in the lovely city but, truth be told, you couldn't pay me enough to live there again.
As a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, honestly the only place that intimidates me is Milwaukee. I've been mugged there twice, once with a knife and once with a gun. Obviously the entire city isn't a crime ridden cess pool, there are cool things to see and do, actually quite a lot! What I don't like is that you can be in a safe area, but drive a few blocks over and suddenly you're in a place where you would not consider getting out of the car. Drive through the city on Fond du Lac Ave, and you will see for yourself. I had to laugh when you mentioned Hampton Ave, cause that's one of the places I got mugged!
I am originally from Wisconsin. I moved over 30 years ago & would give my right arm to move back! I miss it desperately! Season changes, fresh meat, friendly people & basements! I would love to see a white Christmas again. And I miss lilac bushes! The smell from the flowers reminds me of home. Also, the smell of fallen leaves when it rains! The whole state, even though it has its many faults, is just beautiful & amazing! You don't know how blessed & what you miss until you no longer have it. Stop dissing the state.
Ty! We're no different here, our cities are def getting more crime but our small towns are the best imo. I've lived here most of my life, and it'll be home to me until I'm no more. ❤
Grew up in Beloit. I graduated from high school with nearly 100% of my classmates. Never had anything stolen from me, least of all my wallet at the farmers market? People in Beloit want work and DO WORK. This video has so many issues. I didn’t realize white people are the ones who make Wisconsin great. Beloit has amazing food and kind people. Proud of my small city, and although I don’t live there anymore, visiting is fun and always enjoyable.
Brown Deer is not on Lake Michigan, when you cross the Milwaukee river on Brown Deer road you enter River Hills, basically a different planet.Brown Deer is the hood.
I dont recommend sun prairie. I like towns like New Glarus, Brodhead, Orfordville, Albany, argyle..the small towns. Mcfarland, Cottage Grove (the last 2 are in Dane co where I grew up.. alot more restrictions there)Good schools, very low crime, great ppl.
The problem with this list is it ignores good parts of the cities mentioned and also ignores the fact that places like Racine and Milwaukee are not only cities but counties. The counties are way larger than the cities themselves and have a lot to offer. No one would say Wind Point in Racine county is trashy. I say I am from Racine despite not actually being from the city of Racine, and I just always assumed people knew that the county doesn’t equal the city
@@brookeeterno4585 Agreed!! I'm shocked 😲 that Racine made it to four. Other than Beloit, no place is worse or more ghetto than Racine. This city has gone steadily downhill the last thiety-five years. SMH
I have lived for many years in both Kenosha and Racine and I can attest to the fact that there is not much difference between the 2 towns. Kenosha has been improving each year though. Although Kenosha did have a legit riot which i would never guessed that would happen.
I left from Minneapolis only to hear what happened in Kenosha WI. While assigned to do road work there. The atmosphere was so oppressed. Businesses closed by 6:30pm gas stations turned off curfew hours set. Seen Alabama national guards. Locals including people from Illinois all paranoid in the face. What a crazy time to experienced
OK now I’m insulted because I live in Racine and my mom is on food stamps but the reason she is on food stamps is because she doesn’t have a job because she can’t have a job because she has to take care of my nephew who is disabled and there’s no one to help her
I'm someone who has lived in the Ashland area for a long time, and I don't think it's that bad honestly. It has a lot of public infrastructure like bike trails that are really nice, and the main street is very busy for a small town. There's a lot of very nice small businesses, having the lake next door is great, and it doesn't even get quite as much snow as inland cities. Drugs are definitely a real problem, but some of the crime & murder rates may just be statistical anomalies since the sample size is so small. (There was one serial arsonist a few years ago that probably drove those rates up... thankfully he's been caught now). The schools could be worse, and Elementary is probably even good, though many parents try to transfer their kids to the nearby Washburn school if they can anyhow. Maybe I'm just blindsided by the fact that I come from various towns surrounding Ashland that are even more economically depressed, though, so it always seemed like one bright spot. I would have given its place to Hurley instead. It's a tiny tiny town (1.5k people) that relies on its Michigan neighbor Ironwood for everything, except bars, which they have like 40 of (along with some other businesses you might predict to arise). It might sound like fun for some people, but for families, it's one of the worst places ever to live imo.
I grew up in Ashland. The biggest problem there is lack of decent paying jobs. Service industry jobs, sure. But Ashland mainly relies on tourists. I don't know of many of my peers that stayed in Ashland.
Having moved to Beloit from having lived Mequon/shorewood/ripon/Oshkosh……and having travelled throughout the works, it is not anything like you have said. We’ve lived here 5 years now by choice and in 2 different areas, not once have I felt unsafe, there is soooo much to offer families in terms of things to do, places to go etc. Beloit is not dangerous, the crime is isolated much like other cities into certain areas around certain times… we are about an hour from Madison, Milwaukee and just a tad bit more to Chicago which puts us in a prime location in terms of day trips etc. but hey, as long as this rumor of Beloit stays true, we will have our beautiful city to ourselves, traffic will stay low and cost of living low as well. I do recommend coming back here and going to some of the amazing restaurants, festivals, parks and actually driving around….we have a picture perfect downtown, no empty or abandoned buildings lurking, a brand new stadium, tons of diversity which means diverse restaurants, beautiful college, trails along the river front and cool breweries within our small city. Just some thoughts from a Beloit implant.
I grew up around Chippewa Falls and met my partner in my hometown. Chippewa Falls is a nice small town, people are actually moving to from out of state. He's from Antigo and everytime I go back there to visit his family, I am astonished about how much it is a shell of its former self.
I attended middle school and high school in Chippewa Falls. It’s a nice area, but there is not a lot for kids to do there, so there were lots of issues with underage drinking and teenage pregnancy. Still, it was a decent place to grow up.
I live in New London. You make it sound like a ghetto town and it surely is not. You don't mention the great school system we have here, the crime is low, rent is reasonable and there is no shortage of housing.
We lived in Brown Deer 13 years and finally got out in 2020. It really went down hill. It’s a suburb borders Milwaukee intercity. A main road gave people in Milwaukee quick access to drive up to Brown Deer. When Walmart came crime increased greatly. Also apartments in area had lots of domestic cases. So many families with lots kids moved into apartments. I couldn’t believe how many kids you’d see the buses pick up by the apartments. Neighborhoods with houses were nice. It’s very true that car theft is high. Also lots of burglaries. We were burglarized mid day in 2015. Cops are good and have small parameter to cover but just too much crime coming in. Businesses struggle to stay and schools could be better. Teachers and staff were good but kids just weren’t achieving as high. One correction I give is Brown Deer is not on Lake Michigan though it’s not far. It’s 5 miles from the lake. In my daughter yearbooks I counted how many kids in my daughters kindergarten grade were still in her grade in 5th grade. Only 1/5 of kids were still in the school system. That’s how many left (then new came in). So that’s a high turnover of families. School fights are common in older grades and lots of kids show disrespect toward the teachers.
Brwon deer is 7-8 miles from Milwaukees inner city. I grew up near Brown Deer. It was a great place to live during the 70s and 80s......then it steadily went downhill from there....
Because it is a blue state and the state officials don't prosecute because they are too progressive. It is almost to the point that California is. They keep letting criminals go, taxing the taxpayers more and more, and now they are backed in a corner with nowhere to. Then they cry when they actually are robbed. Haha.
When I was young in the late 70s and early 80s I lived in Portage. I remember the cold and snowy winters and intense thunderstorms. the town itself was a wonderful place to grow up. I know some people who settled and had families there. It has a unique small town charm.
Born n raised in Racine..Now have lived in Kenosha for 4 years...They both have garbage dump areas..One block it's flowers and white picket fences, the next block it's krak p!pes and syringes.
My home state. Left 50 years ago, but I still miss much of it. I’ll take the cold and snow over what we’re getting here in Nor Cal right now: fires and drought. Big fires and severe drought. No end in sight.
The City of Racine is in Racine County. The City of South Milwaukee is in Milwaukee Co. There is a difference between the south side of Milwaukee and South Milwaukee. 🙄
Probably because the only time Wisconsin night comes together as if the bucks the Brewers or the Packers win and when they do win everybody goes their separate ways when it's all said and done things go right back to normal crime drugs killing shootings reckless driving you name it I can go on segregation integration separation should I go on
I grew up in a small town near New London. Its a great place to live if you want no money, chain smoke, or like to see teenage pregnancies. That place is a total shit hole. The ONLY good thing about New London is the Wolf River. Good Walleye fishing. But i bet if the river had its choice, it would just skirt around that imbred cesspool.
I don't understand the constant comments about " lack of diversity".. .you want diversity move to the north side of Milwaukee and get diversified at 1100 Feet per second or have your car stolen or get mugged etc.
There are a lot of manufacturing jobs available around the state, just not big name companies that people recognize. They are also primarily non-union, which people are quick to dismiss as not being "good paying". I go into a lot of these companies through my work, they pay well, have good benefits, and the management treats their people well. As for the crime rates in these small towns, yeah, they are high, because people in these towns report everything to the police. Minor stuff, but it pumps up the stats. As for Milwaukee, I grew up there. Was a wonderful place to live for me in the 60's and 70's. As a kid, I could ride the bus anywhere without any problems. Now, there are parts of the city you should not wander into. But every big city has the same issues as Milwaukee.
Problem is if you’re not white your not going to want to live in those small towns. The loss of high paying manufacturerimg jobs in the big cities is what’s hurting the cities. These were high paid, but low education jobs and most of those workers didn’t finish high school let alone college. Without any degree at all it’s almost impossible to find similar work. It’s the same everywhere. No jobs and people lose hope and the loss of hope just means more crime. It’s a never ending cycle.
I grew up in the Beloit/Janesville area. Honestly, as long as you stay outta the 4th ward in Janesville and certain neighborhoods in Beloit, they're not so bad.
I live awesome in Wi. I do it by working. WI doesn't give nearly as much cash as Illinois. There are plenty of millionaire style communities in WI too. Places where the middle class actually do well.
Agreed! There are way too many million dollar houses where I live for me to count on my fingers and toes! Although some places rely on tourism and do well because of that and if they didn’t have that they’d start struggling like the cities/towns named in the video.
I’ve lived in Beloit my whole life it’s really not that bad I really don’t mind walking the streets at night and I live in the “hood” you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover because there are a lot of good people here. You just gotta not piss people off and you’ll be fine. Although there are some rough spots. There is a community here people have your back and won’t let anything happen to you and as far as the drugs there are drugs everywhere in the country… so that shouldn’t really be a highlight. It might not be your style but for a lot of us here it’s where we call home and where we feel comfortable at. When you live here you’ll realize it’s not all bad
I grew up in Beloit and lived there until 3 years ago. There are still good people there and the downtown has truly been reborn, it is actually a destination for many people outside Beloit. The rest of the city is dangerous. Drugs, gangs and the "hood" mentality have hurt a once safe, prosperous town. There is hope though; I am seeing signs of regentrification as outsiders buy up properties, rehab them and end up with a beautiful home on a nice sized lot for far less than they would pay elsewhere. From this standpoint Beloit is ripe for the picking.
I went to Beloit College from 1986-1990. I went back in 2015. I hardly recognized the place. It was clear there were major economic improvements. The downtown, which was a ghost town, was revitalized with new buildings and lots of businesses. I think ABC had a lot to do with it and several big businesses call Beloit their the corporate headquarters.
That is true about the property and house prices. We came from the Lake Geneva area and you'd probably pay at least double for the same size lot or house there. It's very much for the richer well to do person.
Worst city is Fond Du Lac. Absolutely the worst place I ever lived. Beloit, Janesville, Milwaukee all better than the FDL armpit that stinjs. Just about every major business is gone and a lot of businesses including the mall are defunct.
I just moved out of Janesville after living there for 8 yrs to Madison and I really miss the small town feel of Janesville. I agree with not much to do but overall I felt safe and there was good shopping.
@@SkylineWeather yea most definitely. I'm from middletown and they had two murders there this year, not to mention all the car thefts and someone actually was caught on camera entering a home with a gun in an attempted theft around dinner time. Parents just sold the house so glad they are getting out of there.
@@codis5722 Yep, it’s sad that these cities were once great and now are being overrun with crime. I live by Waterbury and it looks third world in some areas.
Lifelong resident (also was a MN resident for a few years) here. Yes, Milwaukee and some of the suburbs have crime, low proverty rates etc. That comes with a lot of bigger cities. Wisconsin overall is a state with better schools and Healthcare than other states. I forget how nice people generally are, until I visit other parts of the country. Wages could be higher in quite a few places. The majority of crime is due to meth. (Not that much different than most places in the US). The winters are hard and long. Thankfully, there are plenty of people with trucks and tow straps to pull you out. Oh, and the cheese and beer I shall miss if I move somewhere warmer. ;)
Gotta say! As someone who grew up in WI and lives in Minnesota, the doctors and medicine in WI were so much better. Something you don’t think about until you realize it!
How can you judge a place you’ve never lived in? I’ve lived in Wisconsin Rapids since 1991 and I LOVE the small town feel compared to a Big City. People move here because rent and mortgages are inexpensive. People move here because it is a Great place to raise your children. So, you have to take a Day trip to Appleton or Madison to do some mall shopping, but it’s only 1.5 hour drive to get away for the day. Drug pushers come up here from Bigger Cities, they are not born here. You should stay here for a couple days instead of making up your mind only by what you hear. We have Beautiful Parks and we don’t have the Paper Mill anymore to stink up our town.
Dude your video is so inaccurate. Where are you getting your info from? You’re showing clips from the East side on Vel Phillips, but you’re talking about Brown Deer. How do you put Beloit above Milwaukee? Get your info straight, because you sound as if you have no clue.
My boyfriend just moved from Wisconsin. He’s from Milwaukee Wisconsin lives in Los Angeles California now. Wisconsin is a nice place. It’s good it’s good and it’s bad parts.
Bro I was born in Beloit. It’s not as bad as he makes it sounds. He probably has never set foot in my town. And with that attitude it’s probably best 🙌🏾
Dude did you live in the town or just born? I was born and raised, trust me, its just that bad and it is as bad as he said. I still have family and friends there and I hear about the crime all the time.
I wasn’t born in Beloit but was raised. It is horrible. But not for the reasons he lists. There’s just nothing. What if you don’t like bars or sports? You’ll have nothing to do and no where to go. The singles scene…. Well there is none it’s next to impossible to find anyone that isn’t a whore. The crime is bad because there’s nothing to do. Shoot the only reason Beloit does exist is because the rich people in town. Give me 10 things in Beloit that every age can do safely and cheaply. And can’t involve sports or bars. I’ll wait
I've lived in Wisconsin most of my life, I've lived in Fort Atkinson, Beloit, now Adams, I love where I live surrounded by nature in a town of less than 2,000 ppl.. I live the quiet & peaceful life.
In 2015, I've been assaulted by two black teens on the corner of Northeast Milwaukee, Glendale and Whitefish Bay. They tried to rob me. Thankfully, the residents saw it and came out to help. The Glendale police were quick and they apprehended the guys. When they got to court, one of them the mastermind (the real criminal) was acquitted but the other guy (apprentice) was sentenced to prison for a month. My home was broken in and lots of bad trash from Chicago got dumped on us. Milwaukee police did a great job cleaning the area but it was too much. I'm not a white guy. I'm a "brown". Anyway, I left the city and I will never go back there. The place has been going down very badly. There are good people there but darkness has just invaded the place. It's just sad. Sometimes, the best thing to do is pack your bags and leave for your own good.
Right on point with how it still is. I only come once a year to be a vendor at the state fair. It is the absolute worst fair we do. The worst of the worst come to the fair. Everybody is so snobby and everybody bitches about everything. Good thing it is once a year. I would go homeless instead if living in that disgusting hell hole of liberalism.

I'm from SC, living in NY, and I visited Madison, WI last summer. Madison natives are the nicest people I've met.

Have you been up north? My god the winters are brutal. 6/7 months of cold and snow
Tell them girl

Madison is a s*it hole now.
I can agree I have been born and raised as well and it has gotten better
Wisconsin FUCKIN SUCKS , and I’ve grown up there, MILWAUKEE to be exact and THAT SHIT SUCKS AND ITS SEGREGATION IS TERRIBLE ASF
Welcome to Wisconsin. Enjoy the cycling. I do!

Referring to Racine’s “mega prom”, that clip was from the Night To Remember prom, which is for special needs students in that area who can’t go to their schools proms.

I thought I might find this entertaining since I grew up in this state, recently moved back after 25 years in Illinois to be near my father before he departed this life last year, and have decided to stay. I may have finished the video if I could get past the tone deaf arrogance of the creator.
Both my sister and brother-in-law live in Milwaukee and they love the vibe there.
Milwaukee is one of if not the most segregated cities in the country and it shows when you drive through it. If you know where to go and where not to go (and that might be a block difference) it's a pretty cool city.
I moved to Madison from Hyde Park, Chicago. I lived in Westmoreland. I could not sleep for about a week--it was too quiet at night.

Not everyone on welfare is a lowlife. Some are unfortunately just physically unable to work even though they’d really like to. They have back problems or something that keeps them from working but can’t get disability because it’s damn near impossible to get it with a bad back or gut problems. But then there’s also a good portion that are.

Wisconsin does not have welfare. Wisconsin has food help but that's it. Energy help in winter. Wisconsin is a great place to call home.

Beloit has gotten a lot better these past ten years
I actually quite like Ashland.

Proud of my small city, and although I don’t live there anymore, visiting is fun and always enjoyable.

Just moved back to Illinois from Racine. Kringles the only bright side. O & H
APPLE KRINGLE MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Racine used to be the publisher/ printer of Golden Books, for children ~~

Wow...New London has great schools, great people and awesome restaurants. This place is great.
New London is very safe! I had family there and also went camping in Fremont which is fairly close to New London recently love that area
The sound of a quarter dropping into a toilet is how Beloit got it's name.😂
Lies. The original name was bel-wah.

But every big city has the same issues as Milwaukee.
accurate
Problem is if you’re not white your not going to want to live in those small towns. The loss of high paying manufacturerimg jobs in the big cities is what’s hurting the cities. These were high paid, but low education jobs and most of those workers didn’t finish high school let alone college. Without any degree at all it’s almost impossible to find similar work. It’s the same everywhere. No jobs and people lose hope and the loss of hope just means more crime. It’s a never ending cycle.
👍🏾
Me, a californian, moving to milwaukee to work for a manufacturing company lmao
I grew up in the Beloit/Janesville area. Honestly, as long as you stay outta the 4th ward in Janesville and certain neighborhoods in Beloit, they're not so bad.
lol the 4th ward. We used to call that the Beloit of Janesville.
Hey, Nick! One of my favorite things about your videos is that you don't hold back! Keep on being you!!
PS. This video was cheesy as heck ; )
i get it lol
From this standpoint Beloit is ripe for the picking.
gentrification is not good my guy
I went to Beloit College from 1986-1990. I went back in 2015. I hardly recognized the place. It was clear there were major economic improvements. The downtown, which was a ghost town, was revitalized with new buildings and lots of businesses. I think ABC had a lot to do with it and several big businesses call Beloit their the corporate headquarters.
There is a lot of jobs in Beloit. But that doesn't always mean everything
That is true about the property and house prices. We came from the Lake Geneva area and you'd probably pay at least double for the same size lot or house there. It's very much for the richer well to do person.
is that's you Michelle Lp
Worst city is Fond Du Lac. Absolutely the worst place I ever lived. Beloit, Janesville, Milwaukee all better than the FDL armpit that stinjs. Just about every major business is gone and a lot of businesses including the mall are defunct.
I just moved out of Janesville after living there for 8 yrs to Madison and I really miss the small town feel of Janesville. I agree with not much to do but overall I felt safe and there was good shopping.
Nick, can you please do worst places in Connecticut soon? I’ve been waiting for quite a while, and im eager to see it!
Yea it's getting rough there. Especially in the middle sized cities like meriden and Middletown
@@codis5722 I agree. The bigger cities are getting bad too.
@@SkylineWeather yes the dirty water is no joke
Been to LA liked the views but the people are different. Always love coming back home to Wisconsin.
I’ll wait
I think Kenosha should have been where Racine was considering all the violence that happened in 2020.
I've lived in Wisconsin most of my life, I've lived in Fort Atkinson, Beloit, now Adams, I love where I live surrounded by nature in a town of less than 2,000 ppl.. I live the quiet & peaceful life.
no i rather live the subs of Chicago it more better even tho crimes is bad but ik Wisconsin is beautiful but I’m more like a suburban girl
@@stephhslush05 my brother can't stand the quiet of the country, he lives in the city with all the light & noise..
