Keep on introducing finger foods especially when your little one is hungry. 😊 You’ll get there. Babies have different time frames on everything. Best of luck Mumma.
I wanted to do BLW for my twins but I have developed a new fear: them choking at the same time 😨! I mostly feed them alone that's why they're still on purees at 7 months. Sometimes I give them the spoon or snack sticks to practice for now 😅 They are both good eaters though and willing to be independent to eat which is a good sign.
As long as you sit with them and make sure you only give soft food to avoid choking. They’ll gag for sure but that’s part of the learning process. You’ll be fine Mumma. Best of luck.
Oh you're baby eats really good. My 7 months old doesn't really eat that much. I finger feed him once in a while and he likes it but I think it's not good to do that (I don't know). I was thinking to just let him eat by himself just like your baby but at the same time I'm worried of chocking. So I usually make puree and also when I'm around he doesn't really drink milk from the bottle. It worries me that he's not getting enough. As I'm watching this I'm preparing the same for my baby. I will introduce him to independent eating.
Hi, I only did BLW once a day to start with until she’s getting better at feeding her self. I still made purée for her too. Also don’t worry as at this age, milk is still their main food until they turn 1 year old. You’re doing great, you know what’s best for your baby.😊
It’s normal for them to gag while eating. Just make sure you don’t give hard foods to start with. Always supervised them while eating. You’ll be fine mommy! Try it once a day to start with. Best of luck!
Koodles to you mama! I know some moms who do the same and it works! I’m just so scared, would you say she gradually became more confident in eating giving you peace of mind?
I started with soft foods to reduce the chance of choking. Just be around your little one and watch them eat. They will be a Pro in no time! You can do this Mumma! Best of luck.😉
Don’t stress about it Mummy, babies develop at their own phase. Maybe try a different time giving her food making sure she’s hungry. Show her your eating the food slowly, making it very obvious how to eat and chew it.
About to start blw and oh my gosh my anxiety just watching this video 😂 I’ve tried my son on a few bits here and there and had a bit of a choking scare. I know it’s normal for them to choke a little but this episode was taking a little long. Is there anything you wouldn’t give your 7 month old in terms of fruit/veg because of higher risk of choking?
It’s perfectly normal to worry, I was the same before but I just made sure I know what to do if ever she chokes. I wouldn’t give her fruits that are hard, like apples. You might want to steam those first. Also I wouldn’t give anything round like whole grapes. If you serve your baby blueberries give them a squeeze first. For cherry tomatoes cut them in quarters. Basically no hard fruits unless steamed and no round fruits unless cut or squeezed. 😊
My baby is 7 months. Hw is enjoying baby food and a melt away apple puff ...maybe mashed fruits but my baby is not getting hunks of food like that for a while!! Im too paranoid!
Hi there, My baby is almost 8 months... with no teeth at all.. I am so so scared to give her any food like this... can you please help a worried mum out... how can I start?
Hi Mummy, pretty normal to be worried but you can start BLW with or without teeth. My little one started without any teeth. As long as you serve soft food.
@thesmithskitchen8432 thank you so much for quick reply. Do u have any videos how to start with what food?I will be very thankful for all the help. Leaving you a sub. Thanks for the help.
@@shaimaraja6371 no videos, but I am also a momma of a freshly 8 month old babe! There's so many options to go from and it can be daunting/overwhelming without and with teeth. If it's more solid, thin cut pieces of toast, scrambled eggs, blueberries, but make sure to make them smaller. Blueberries i cut in half (or with other fruit I kind of mince it but not puree), eggs are super good scrambled and for her toasts i make them thin and very lightly toasted. You could even make baby friendly mini-pancakes. My baby loves them so much haha Currently now she has her two bottom teeth but before my baby had her first teeth she would use her gums and suck on the bread to break it apart. Stay by their side and try and practice! There are so many videos nowadays on different things to give our LOs Best of luck!
I do put it back. When they are starting blw, a lot would end up on the floor but it’s the experience of putting food in their mouth is already an achievement. They will get better in time so don’t fuss if they can’t eat all of it. That’s why blw portion looks full on a plate.
Yes I was, it’s normal to fear choking but you just have to educate yourself what’s the difference between choking and gagging as it could look similar at the beginning. And also what to do if they actually do choke. Start with soft food and see how your baby does.
Yes, I agree with you. When you start blw 80-90percent of their food end up on the floor. Sometimes they will just play with it but they will learn eventually.
It’s pretty normal when starting blw, 90% of the food will end on the floor. But making them experience the food is already progress. Give it time Mommy. Best of luck.
That is true, most of it will end up on the bib and floor but that’s a huge part of starting blw as they are still learning. Besides milk is still their main source of food.
Pediatrician will have different recommendations but as you can see a lot of the food isn’t consumed and that’s what happens when you choose to do Blw instead of feeding them mashed food. And she’s never been too heavy for her age so she’s not having too much food. Tnx.
@@Nikita_AAK yes, ripe avocados, mangoes and bananas with organic peanut butter. You can slice the avocados on wedges if you are just starting for easier grip or you can also coat them with shredded coconut.

@lynnstar8259why?
@lynnstar8259it is perfectly safe. It’s called baby led weaning and as long as a parent is always watching them eat they are fine
@lynnstar8259 all this fruits are soft. They are not choking hazard. If your scared then that’s your problem, don’t scare other parents.

Mine doesn’t have teeth yet so I’m nervous doing food like this
Try soft food. They don’t really need teeth to start. They can still bite off without teeth.
Is it too late to start blw at 7mo?
Of course not. Whenever you think your lo is ready. Some even start later.

Water bottle is pigeon petite straw bottle. Yes she sucks it, other babies may not. Try to put something sweet on the straw to encourage sucking.
