“Guess who!” “Maris?” One of the funniest Simpsons lines of all time, especially when that episode first aired because literally everyone watching it was thinking it the whole time.
@@tomedy_official The guy who voices cecil (david hyde pierce) also plays the character niles in the show "frasier" Maris is his wife, who is known to be a very small person and weighs about 45 pounds, so it would be reasonable for cecil to think that bart could be maris.
@@tomedy_official Maris is a character from the 90’s sitcom “Frasier,” which starred Kelsey Grammar as Dr. Frasier Crane and David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s brother Niles Crane. Niles’s wife for the first few seasons was named Maris. Kelsey Grammar voices Sideshow Bob, and David Hyde Pierce voices Bob’s brother Cecil in this episode. We all knew a crossover reference was coming, and Cecil’s answer to Bart’s question was the perfect payoff!
The "Maris?" line always kills me. It's even funnier when you consider how thin they always said she was. Meaning that she weighs as much as a fat 10 year old boy.

It reminds me of the theory that the firstborn child feels that their parents don't care about them once a younger sibling comes along. Of course, in the large scheme of things, this is a limiting self- belief, in that their parents love them both. Of course, as Fraiser put it, "our mother named us after rodents."
