using after effects for 3D is like coming to construction site with manual screwdriver, when you got plenty of power drills - and some of them are totally free
@@stillremain.artwork it would have been so much better, and way more useful if they just did a deal with Andrew Kramer and bought E3D off of him to build into AE and develop further. E3D is mega old at this point, but still does way more and looks way better than this sorry attempt.
Finally Adobe is putting in more effort and time and money into giving us tools we could just use a real 3D software for! I was already afraid they would opt to combat their bugs or give us the basic features we still need to buy plugins for or work on their ancient code base to someday give us a a version that is able to playback things without buffering. Nope more useless 3D features in a software that offers 0,000% 3D toolsets to go along with it.

How does your OBJ already have shading materials? 🤔 I have searched this and never found an answer, if I make a mesh in Blender, give it materials there and save it as an OBJ, will the materials carry over? Also The 3D Channel Extract is new, right? 😮 I remember them introducing it for still images in Lightroom. A depth map would help a lot with iPhone 15/ 16 footage.
You can bake your materials into you OBJ file. Making them work in After effects. The 3D extract is in fact new, but not always working as it should...🙈
The fact that it doesn't work with lights, doesn't work with the camera's ability for depth of field, and requires precomping just to get DOF is pretty worthless. We've had better from Video copilot for over a decade with less complication.
Hello Omer, I updated After Effects 2025 but Adobe is making fun of us because when I try to load 3D objects, it says there is no Advanced 3D and closes. Even though I did not install Advanced 3D, it says this and 3D is not loaded directly.

@@gregkrazanski yeah, but these guys do comp here and make comp tuts in ae. for mograph fusion has a lot of cool stuff as well, never done a 1-1 comparison with ae but there are lot of companies making plugins for resolve like motion vfx who makes all of those stuff in fusion.
@@gregkrazanskifor 2D stuff cavalry is the way to go, it’s lightning fast, and has all the features AE should have had years ago. AE is just marketplace reliant software now.
@@UnRais-d2e two very different softwares bro. There is a lot of things Cabarly can't do. ( Not to mention how buggy it is now ) However the instruments for 2D typography in Cavary seems to be more advanced than AE. ( again I'm looking forwards to change my mind about it )

Character wise, there’s Moho or Cartoon Animator. More focused tools are always going to be better at what they do than the jack of all trades that is AE. I’ve worked professionally with AE for 15 years, and it sucks to see it going from a once great bit of kit to lagging behind in so many ways. But they only have themselves to blame, and there’s no ‘brand loyalty’ from me, I’ll always use the best tool for the job, which means that lately, I’ve been using AE less and less.

there are online tools or you can import that file in blender and then export as glb file.

It created a depth map . The object doesn’t need to be 3d for the effect to do to that it can calculate the depth of images as well
