You probably didn't do any major damage to the motor, you just have oil everywhere. Pull the intake manifold and clean it out. Also pull all your air intake clean them and the MAFs; drain out of every single plug, and fill to the right level. Dry Sumps can only be checked with the car running (usually); if I recall the R8 doesn't have a dipstick. Good luck, the R8 is the best Supercar per dollar available.

What ended up happening is you had oil clogged up in the catalytic converters. That’s what the white smoke was until you burned it all and cleared it 👍🏼

dry sump oil system : if you touch oil again dont do on the ground the way u did with one jack , you need a lift or quick jacks to make sure the car is leveled correctly

The excess oil was pushed out the cam cover into the vent ( PCV Valve ) which is plumbed to vent into the inlet manifold, causing oil to pool in the inlet manifold.
Be a good idea to replace the PCV valve as a preventative measure as it’s not likely to perform 100% and could shorten life of the cats.

The correct procedure is to fill 7 liters of oil, run the engine for 30 seconds and then fill another 3 liters of oil. Then check the oil level. if you need any instructions or tips just contact me

did you remove the 3 drain screws ? + the one for the separate oil tank !
in the R8 v8 there are 10L of oil !
after the magic smoke now you can change your 8 spark plugs 😅

The ECU has some themal paste for heat transfer to the case. I do not know if there is your case, but the most of them have. If open, you should replace the paste of put some more to make sure there is a perfect themal contact.
🤣 The cheapest parts are usually the biggest problem.

could be engine head gasket gone bad or may be leftover oil in catbacks, and yea you should programme your cluster to show real temperature on board computer because we all know volkswagen lies about speed up to 7km/h and 10 to 20 degrees celsius on that temperature needle.Its not neseseary but for the piece of mind.Keep it up,that v8 is pretty much reliabe engine!

Good Job man! Don t forget to check the catalic converters, and clean the lamda sensors...when the motor burn oil they get very dirty, and they not send a 100% right values to the ECUs. This can limit the performance of the engine.
