Welcome back and great reaction. 'Metal Kingdom' is the first song on their latest album, so of course they used it for the epic opening number at their concerts at the end of January - their first live concerts in nearly 2 years, where this was filmed.
The thrones (they have 3 of them made with swords and hands showing the Kitsune (Fox sign🦊)) probably are inspired by Game of Thrones ... at the start of the concert a couple of huge fox gates opened and the girls appeared seated on the thrones.
This is an anthemic opening number of course ... very different to 'Catch Me If You Can' which you watched last time. They have about 60 songs now, each one different to the last.
It is good you can appreciate what they do and the songs you have heard so far, but as every song is so different there will be others that you will connect with - and just maybe going to see them play live will be on your bucket list after all. They are one of the very best live bands on the planet right now, so it would be a shame to miss them even if they are not what you might normally gravitate towards (yet).
I think we just need to find the songs that are more your thing ... and it will be fun trying to do that. I think last time I added my vote for for the Legend 1997 live 'Headbanger' ... you can find that on Gans Tomas or abr metal channels.
I will add another song here that I think you might appreciate even more - again live at the Legend 1997 concert (that was in December 2013 to celebrate Su-metal's 16th birthday), but the concert finale 'BABYMETAL Death' ... Hadesillo has posted a good version with closed captions for the intro.

I would imagine that something like "Road of Resistance" live in Japan might be able to change your opinion on wanting to go to a concert. It's as good as live performances get, in my opinion.

Suzuka`s crowd interaction/control alone is worth the ticket price...I`ve seen them 4 times now and never disappointed in the least. Amazing performers.

I've only found them this year and, tell me if I'm wrong, but western audiences don't get the participation thing and I think the girls feed off that even though they stay absolutely professional with a less animated crowd. But the Japanese audiences add another dimension, it's very moving to see.

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I did witness this very performance at the venue. This video is from Makuhari shows on Jan.28 /29. You saw one octagonal movable / elevatable stage but actually there were two identical stages for more surprising production. Several drones with camera were flying around all over the venue.
Once this opening song by Su and Moa got started, I had goosebumps all over my body. The show was held after the almost 2-year long hiatus after all. Seriously many of audience were moved to tears and/or dropped their jaws when the gigantic fox wall opened and the thrones came out. Yeah! I chanted all through the song. ♪ Oh oh oh o o o ♪. What a happy experience!! The Kami band was playing on the east stage that was not captured in this video.
After this opening with stateliness, 3 girls performed 12 songs with Momoko Avenger, who finally became official 3rd member Momometal 2 months thereafter.
I love your honest reaction to BabyMetal. I like the way you stated your personal opinion about the band while still giving them their props. Not everything, band, singer, etc is going to be liked by everyone. That doesn't mean they're bad; it just means it didn't quite do it for you. Very cool react. Keep checking them out. BabyMetal has been around for a decade now and have a variety of performance that will put a smile on your face.
Yeah, honesty is important, and it's not just prejudice because you are giving them their due. Try more if you want, but not if you don't - there's plenty more bands out there for you to react to, and plenty more reactors for BM fans to get our fix from too!

I'd been aware of BabyMetal for many years, but it really wasn't until this year and this new album that I began to consider myself a fan. They've come so far in the 13 years since the band was founded, and they have matured. I am aware that there is older music by them that I need to discover, time permitting.
Now imagine it with the real live audio as this audio comes from the Album version, all the crowd chanting the chorus like under a spell, filling all the Arena.
This comes from their first two shows after their almost two years long hiatus, the last ones they performed as a duo as in the next ones at PIA it was announced that Momoko has finally become MOMOMETAL, the new third memmber of BABYMETAL.
The song is an opening , for the Album The Other ONE, for their shows and the lyrics indeed are about a metaphorical beginning of a battle that's really a live show.

Babymetal has always been about a whole lot more than music. In Japan it's called Visual Kei. In essence musical theatre with evolving story and theatrics and ofc music. The only way to truly experience this band is live.

Along with Band such as Alice Cooper, Kiss and recently Rammstein etc etc. If I am wrong and I'm quite prepared to accept I am why are Babymetal sitting at No2 in the all time Japanese Visual Kei bands list ?? "METAL KINGDOM" was tailored to be the concept album opener and they used it to open some shows like in the visuals of this music video (which has the studio audio on it). It sets perfectly the atmosphere of the whole concert or the listening session to THE OTHER ONE album.
I believe that having watched only two of their performances isn't enough for you to get the whole picture. Specially because the first was an older one and this is an opening number and without the third official member since she was announced two months after this concert. So please check out something like "Mirror Mirror" (official music video).

For something a bit different, you should check out Babymetal Death from Legend 1997 concert, and In The Name Of from Legend S concert. Both are birthday concerts for Su the lead singer, one is the ending to a concert, and one is the beginning. These two performances shows off the performance side of Babymetal.... Metal Theater.🤘🦊🤘
I have seen it posted many times in many places that going to one of their shows is a complete experience. Not quite the same in the US as it is in Japan though.
I may actually break off the large chunk of change needed and drive over to Seattle and find out in October.
Living in the area I do, the looks from all the country folk when I blast Babymetal makes my days brighter. Hahaha.
To be frankly honest, their live shows are what makes this band. Saw them with Dethklok over the summer, which was pretty epic. Personally, Metal Kingdom isn't my favorite track.
It's popular in Europe but far from what I would consider classic Babymetal. You need to get into some more like "Death" or "Distortion." Which actually was a collaboration with Arch Enemy's Alissa White-Gluz.
They have had some pretty epic collaborations over the years. DragonForce with Road to Resistance. "Metal with Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine.

One of my favorite performances is with Bring Me The Horizon with Kingslayer. Where they performed live last year in Japan for the first time with Oli at Nex_Fest.
They just dropped another single "Leave It All Behind" a few days ago. Which feat Rapper F-Hero and Thai Rock Band Bodyslam. Maybe it's my favorite collaboration to date here.
For more classic performances, you need to see eariler stuff. Like "Rondo of Nightmare" Mischiefs of Metal Gods at Budokan Live.
Su-Metal was only 16-17 in that now legendary performance. This is what I usually recommend to holdouts as is what finally ensnared me.

It features the Kami Band in the beginning in all it's savage glory. Tales of Destinies Live is another great early performance. Which was a Tribute to Dream Theatre"s "Dance of Eternity."
There are others, of course but I once had a love and hate relationship as well but now appreciate all of what they have accomplished here.
Not easy being a gatekeeper here, but I guarantee. There is something you will find up your alley. Su-Metal even had a duet with Judist Priest once lol. Wecome to the foxhole!!🤘🦊
I enjoy watching your reactions......BUT....you have only reviewed 2 songs from the most diverse metal band that has been out since 2010.
They have so many songs I think would blow you away. So....before you think they are not your cup of tea...please at least listen to 2 more tracks, The first being Kagerou and off their new album.....Mirror Mirror.....I really think you will enjoy tracks specially being a guitar fan. Im not some diehard fan thats been listening to BM forever....I only discovered them 5 months ago and had the same initial reaction you did. But Im very glad I took the time to discover more music from them. To the point....I bought my first concert ticket in 20 years to see BM in October!!!!! Go down the Foxhole!!!!!!!!!! LoL

If you ever have the opportunity do see them live. At the very least you'll have a fun time, and meet lots of interesting and fun fans. I saw them recently and with the addition of Momometal I have never been to a better concert.

Anyway great reaction and totally fair if you ain't vibing with this, but i think you're far away to actually know what BM is all about, you should check it out a couple of more songs at least before totally clicks on you and I'm pretty sure it will, I love this song from new BM era but they have more banger tracks than this one which is mainly the intro for this new album but it was performed with a dance choreo outside of Japan when going on the World Tour, we got only fancams around thou.
But like i said you need to go back and listen at least two great exponents of what they do when performing live together:
- Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997 held in 2013, Gans Tomas got this clip safe to react under "Head Bangya" title.
- Road Of Resistance live in Japan (2015) official MV, sometimes this one gets blocked, so put some filters just in case.
Additionally you can enjoy:
- Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 official live, and witness a turning point in their careers.
Another cool and different song showing SuMetal surrounded by a different atmosphere unlike the usual happy style with:

Before you leave Babymetal, you need to watch the song Death from the Legend 1997 concert. I think that will keep you interested. It may be one of the most "metal" song I think I've ever seen.

Fair enough you wouldn't gravitate towards Babymetal. I'm not young, I saw Led Zeppelin live in 75 to give you an idea. But in recent months I've become totally absorbed by the Babymetal experience (I use that word because "band" goes nowhere near to explaining what BM is). Over my lifetime I've enjoyed so much rock music and it seems it all led to... Babymetal. Over the top comment you might say, but it's true. I feel this is what I've waited for and I absolutely love everything about Babymetal ❤
If you saw Zeppelin in 1975, then you may know of this story. Back in 1971 's Led Zeppelin touched down in Hiroshima. Which was for a concert at the Shiei Taikukan Hall (Prefectural Gymnasium) and they gave the profits to the City of Hiroshima.
Which were used to help build a music school at the time. Led Zeppelin wanted to do something to promote peace at the time. So this was his contribution in kind.
This music school later had a student that (in time) would have a daughter that became rather famous as any gusses to who? 🤔 Yep, none other than Suzuka Nakamoto!!!!
Whose father was also in a Punk band called The Hooligans. Which has since seen his daughter perform alongside one of his favorite bands, Guns N´ Roses. Must have made Su-Metal farther a proud papa. Cool story right!! 🤘🦊🎸
Since you’ve dipped your feet into some Japanese metal, though a Kawaii metal id go more heavier and recommend; Crystal lake - Apollo or Curse mainly Apollo will blow your socks off, and Curse would give you an insight into how the bands lead vocalist was struggling at the end to keep at it.

Nice reaction. I think most of us Babymetal fans appreciate that you're still reacting to them even though so far you haven't found anything that really tickles your fancy. I WILL mention a couple of things in that regard. I'm sure you've probably noticed that this song and the other song you reacted to, I think it was Catch Me If You Can are insanely different. That is something that is one of Babymetal's strengths. None of their songs really sound alike as they love trying new things. In terms of songs more up your alley, I get the feeling that Road of Resistance and Rondo of Nightmare would be more up your alley. In terms of vocal range, Su-Metal really does have quite a large range. A song that kind of shows what may be her more upper limit would be From Dusk Till Dawn. I'm not sure if anybody really knows her actual full vocal range as I don't know that it's ever really been tested. Anyhow, even if you're not 100% into Babymetal, if you ever have a chance to see them live, I'd highly encourage it as they are, from all accounts, on a whole different level live, especially in Japan. But the energy they exude to the fans and the fun everybody has at a Babymetal concert is something I keep hearing about. I'll finally be going to my first Babymetal concert in October when they FINALLY are going to be performing here in Vancouver, BC for the first time.

i honestly believe BM is a group that anybody could grow to like, but theyre something you have to see multiple vids of to kinda understand how far they go for their concerts, its a one and a lifetime experience. imo

She enjoyed and appreciated it, this song just isn't the style that grabs her straight away. Even the fans have songs they like or dislike more or less than others, she just needs to be guided to the ones that are more her sort of thing and that will grab her.
I appreciated her honesty and wish her well. I meant it.
However I am past trying to convince anyone who has seen CMIYC and Metal Kingdom (2 excellent examples of the diversity and talent that are BabyMetal) and cannot see the possibilities.
She seems like a great reactor and I wish her success. Most reactors never listen to recommendations or suggestions from us (me at least) it seems lately that either they pay no attention to the information choose randomly or take only patreon requests. I get it. No problem. I understand I’m just not going to waste time.

I haven't listen to a lot of their new stuff, but listening to this, it makes them sound like nothing special anymore. They sound like most other Metal Emo acts in this song. If you watch a live performance of Headbanger or Megitsune, that's something super unique and special. Especially the Legend 1999 performances.
This was more for their European auidences where it was more popular. It was never performed during their US tour. Ladies knew where it would have the most impact and never performed it in the states.
Frankly Devine Attack-Shingeki, Metal and Monochrome are their more progressive tracks. If you listened to recent interviews they as much said they wanted to try something different.
Su-Metals had said during when BABYMETAL was sealed. "I tried to separate myself from BABYMETAL and music. But I naturally found myself listening to music."
"So I could instinctively tell that I wanted to return to BABYMETAL." "So during the time we were sealed, I felt like I was able to rediscover my love for BABYMETAL."
Sounds to me Su-Metal was needing more inspiration which she wasn't getting anymore from the old. Can't expect them to stay to the same forever if they were to evolve.
Which is exactly what they are doing now. If you preferred the Kawaii stuff there is always the metalverse. I personally can't get into that but each to their own i guess. Su-Metal did say this was meant to be a side project. So I wouldn't put to much stock into it at the moment.

I don't understand why BABYMETAL gets so much attention. BAND MAID ftw. They play the instruments.
He says while giving BABYMETAL attention, I've never seen Saiki play an instrument, oh wait she's what normal people know as a singer, yes. Like Su-metal, Moametal and Momometal they are what people call singers. I think there are some really famous people of this type that do not play instruments but who cares about Ozzy and Alice cooper they are just pretenders real singers don't sing they play instruments.
Really tired of bandmaid fans shitting on babymetal in almost every reaction video. The inferiority complex you guys have towards babymetal is ridiculous. Band-Maid is a really good rock band (but maybe a bit generic) while Babymetal is something most of people had never seen before babymetal came around. Babymetal are unique and talented and their shows are amazing. That's why Babymetal gets so much more attention than Band-Maid. Also that "Band-Maid actually plays their instruments" argument is a pretty shit one since babymetal girls are dancing. Dancing like that while playing instruments would be impossible so they need the help from the kami-band. It would be just as ridiculous of me to go to band-maid reactions and hype up babymetal by saying "they actually dance on stage" because the comparison is dumb since they are completely different kind of acts.
Sorry for the rant but I see this shit way too often.
Band Maid are very good, but they're not doing anything new or original that I didn't see and hear bands doing in pubs years ago. BABYMETAL get attention because they are original and unique ... not to mention being incredibly talented and passionate about what they do.
I don't understand why Band Maid fans think vocalists should play instruments, especially when they have bespoke choreography to perform for every song and world class instrumentalists supporting them.
They get more attention because, simply , they are much better. You are welcome.
I will always find it very funny that the only positive thing Band-Maid fans can say about Band-Maid is that they play their instruments. You really should have more respect for them.
Band-Maid is very good. It's not totally my thing but there is no denying they are worth checking out. They just have too many dumb fans.
