That hockey puck idea is brilliant. Those pads are something that are tricky to find a suitable replacement for short of buying oem parts. Also, for all of the Canadians I know, that's a very on-brand choice of material! Cheers!
I hope you got the punch off the top of the deck in that last shot! Great video, I have the same mower and the spindle just broke on mine, this is inspiring.
I inherited a 1993 Kubota T1400 HST lawn tractor wow this guy is super strong runs and cuts good but deck is noisy. This video is quite appropriate thanks and keep up the good work. ☑️
Thank you for these videos! I have the same mower and have been trying to fix it for a couple years and just ran across your videos. What bearings did you use for this?
I have a twin-blade 40-inch Kubota deck. The spindle pulleys don’t have the threaded holes for the puller. Got one pulley off ok but the other one stuck. I have MAPP gas but that didn’t work I think I’m going to need more pulling force and hotter torch 🔥
Amzing video❤. Any advise on a fix for blades won’t disengage? I took the deck to out to repair some rust and once I put it back onto tractor it won’t disengaged. It’s t1760. Any feedback or videos would be greatly appreciate.
Manage check the brake on the main pulley? You’ll have to look at it while it’s running to see why it still has tension on it. There is adjustment on the cable that engages the pulley terminates.
hello @15:19 you put the cable on wrong here, there is supposed to be a nut on each side of the hole, you want to unthread a nut onto the cable, run the cable/threads thru the hole and then put the nut back on the threads..
Good eye! The hockey puck brake that I made was quite a bit thicker than the original, so I was at the end of the threads in order for it work properly. Once it wears down a bit the nut can be moved over to the other side where it belongs.
hello another question, i also used a hockey puck for a brake pad considering the part is about 100$ usd, is your pad still holding up? mine has pretty deep scarring from the pulley after about 5 uses
@@jasonselinger i figured out what was wrong with mine, whoever had the mower before me had the wrong size belt that goes from the deck to the front of the mower, so the mower was constantly trying to spin the deck even with the brake engaged, new bigger (right sized) belt fixed my issues
@@jasonselinger i ended up using a bearing removal tool and got the bearings off, only thing im waiting on is a pulley in the mail, i used the same remover as you did and the middle of the pulley was stuck on the shaft while the rest sheared off
Wow! What a restoration. And, a hockey puck ? Amazing resourcefulness!
Great tutorial with clear explanations and close up video from a Canuck with a puck!

Hockey pucks are really handy for a lot of things, plus they are incredibly cheap! Thanks for watching!

Excellent videography- good sound, good closeups
Thank you! I’m doing the best I can!
Great video. I woulda ditched the pulley brake. Just one more thing to break or cause extra drag/wear and tear.

Just replace all the spindles bearing and then you know it’s going to last 3/6 years 😊
Did you find the nail set that you left on the top of the deck. You can see it during the last bit of the video.

Keep at it, they can be stubborn. Lots of heat, penetrating oil and patience.
Oxy Acetylene did the trick.

Did you find the nail set that you left on the top of the deck? It is visible at the end of the video when you are running the deck. Great job.
Ha! Yrs I did find it, but only when I saw it while editing the video!! Good eye!
Awesome job! Did you leave the punch you used on the deck after reassembling it? I thought I saw it after you engaged the pto to try it out?
Yes, I got it off. Good eye!!
Nice video! Spindles look the same as used on my 20 year old T1870. What size are the bearings?
I wouldn’t be surprised! Bearings are 6205- 2RS, which is a very common size.
@@jasonselinger Thanks for the info, I'll need to rebuild mine soon.
Good information helped me a lot.

Mine is still going strong after nearly a full season. It did wear quickly when it was first seating then few times before settling in.

What is the length of belt ?
Sorry man, it’s been a while. Should be able to look it up or call your local dealer.
my pulleys did not come off that easy, and both of my bearings are stuck in the housing
Have you tried heating them up? They can be really stuck in there, but heat has a way of making things easier to remove!
