  • Is the S Canal blocked in Headwaters Lake? That is a question everyone wonders when going fishing at Headwaters Lake in Fellsmere Fl. The S Canal is how you gain access to the fishing grounds of the Fellsmere reservoir, lake Egan, and the rest of the fishable waters at Headwaters. In this episode we run the S canal and talk about the different breakpoints and how to navigate the canal if it is blocked.

    Nice update. I haven't tried to run through the eastern area yet. It is crazy how much vegetation blows into the S-canal. You are absolutely correct, there are fish EVERYWHERE!

    New subscriber and recently moved to Vero Beach luckily I'm only about a half hour from the boat ramp there. So glad I found your channel studying your videos makes me more confident I will know where to go when I fish this place this week. Hope to see y'all around!

      Welcome to the area! Stop in and see pat at outdoor adventures bait and tackle about the new maps he has. The guy that created them did a bang up job on them and really give you a great way to plan out spots to hit for the day. If you get down there to the shop let Pat know we sent you. Thanks and good fishing always.

    Have you seen any tilapia beds out there, I just got a boat, but have had no luck finding a place to bowfish for them with the boat yet, you need shallow lake edges, great videos!

    • @BeyondHeadwaters
      @BeyondHeadwaters  3 роки тому

      The Tilapia are all over the lake. Just cruise the banks and you will find the beds. 3 forks is loaded with them as well.

      @@BeyondHeadwaters Thanks, three forks is where I go and get them from the bank, I havent had any luck finding them from the boat, I have not tried much though do to engine problems lol I might try Headwaters tomorrow.

      Personally I would stick to 3 forks. Make sure you are wearing a good pair of polarized glasses. Canal 40 is loaded with beds on the North side and the North South canal from the ramp to 40 is full of fish.

    • @Carnivorefitness2024
      @Carnivorefitness2024 3 роки тому

      @@BeyondHeadwaters Canal 40 is at three forks? I do not see it labeled on any map, thanks!

    • @BeyondHeadwaters
      @BeyondHeadwaters  3 роки тому +1

      40 is the east west canal you run into when you leave the ramp and run south. It is the canal that takes you to the lakes. The north side of the canal is full of beds.

    Just found your channel.... excellent job!!... my sister lives in Palm Bay,, im from NH and have watched them putting the lake together for several years.... hope to fish it soon... thank you for the info....

      Hey JB thanks for checking out our channel. Even though it is in the low 40's here this morning it has to be better than NH! You need to get down here and hit the lake. They did an incredible job putting this fishery together. Take the best parts of every lake you have ever fished and put them all into one lake and you get Headwaters. Tell your sister to make room , you got 10 pounders to catch.

    One thing to tell people would be pass the small boats at higher speeds...I’m out there in a 12 ft johnboat. A lot of people seem to slow down trying to be courteous and creep by, but this jacks up their wake and it can get sketchy for such a small boat in the main canal...faster speed = smaller wake= easy times. See you out there!

      You don't have to run to the far south-west corner...there is plenty of good fishing all over this lake....(be mindful of the potential S canal blockages) I hope you have an awesome time during your trip, keep us posted. Tight Lines Bro

      Great boat for the lake. There are lot of places you can get into that the bass boats can't or won't go. That's why I have a 15ft Jon. You will have a great time. Thanks for jumping into the conversation.

    Awesome video Dave. Was there yesterday with all the duck hunters on opening day. But we went to a new spot East of the S canal and found a short stretch of a canal that was just holding bass in it. Went to a few other spots, but didn't produce as good as the short canal.

      Try to very end of the S Canal as well. Either side. I usually fish the east side and fish all the pockets I can find. They are definitely there.

    How many miles is it from the ramps to the east west canal?

    • @davemorales8323
      @davemorales8323 3 роки тому +2

      It's a three-mile run to the end of the S canal where you turn right (west) onto the east-west canal. There is an opening in the S canal about 2.4 miles south where you can cut through (diagonally) towards the east-west channel. Be careful there a lot of "stuff" out there. If you decide to cut through I would take a south/ south-west course. I suggest if you are not familiar with the lake, take the 3 miles trip to the end and make the right turn (west) to the east-west canal. Hope this helps.

      Topwater, lipless crankbaits, a variety of soft plastics like swimbaits, worms and flukes. Punching/flipping is very effective also.

      Not bad for the larger horsepower motors. I am currently running a ten HP until the new 25 comes in and it can get wrapped around the prop which has to be cleared.
