Alafia Mountain Bike Park - Hunting for the best jumps and trails - Florida MTB Road Trip - Stop #1

- I've made plenty of trips down to Florida to ride my mountain bike but I always heard Alafia Mountain Bike Park was all XC and that kept me steering clear. Today I finally hit Alafia River State Park on the first stop of my Florida road trip! I met some local shredders who didn't mind showing me around some of the most challenging trails I never imagined were hidden away in the swamp! We hit the infamous Gwazi Berm to start the day before heading deeper into the park searching out the biggest features we could find. Snake pit and landing zone were good warm ups before heading to moonscape and gravitron to end the day on the trails! I can't wait to come back...with better fitness for those punchy climbs!
Make sure to check back in with me for next weeks adventure as I head to Carter Road and try my best to not go swimming with the gators!

I thought "I ride mountains, I can ride all day in Florida..."
I was dead wrong. Those trails whooped my a$$
For real I’ve only been out to Alafia i just got into it and i show up at 8 by 11:30 I’m gassed
I was very impressed with the level of slow tech that is required to clean some of the trails!
One of my favorite places to ride! Thanks
I truly believe that if you are a good mountain biker in Florida you can ride anywhere in the country with no problem. The skills are there. The added advantage of Floridian Mountain bikers will always he the cardio. Down here we have to pedal for our speed. LoL nice video man. Glad you had a great time down here.
Born and raised in NorCal and now living down here. Rode Santa Cruz mtns for years Glad I found a place with some terrain. Thanks
Definitely some unique and creative trails around Tampa! Check out my video on carter road (loyce harpe park) for another set of awesome trails near you!
"its so pretty out here," Said no Floridian
Sic trails for an area that is essentially flat 🤘
They do amazing things with the some 15 ft of elevation they have lol!
Video quality is excellent! Nice job showing off Alafia! Come back soon🤙
Thanks bud! Can't wait to get to our day at GFT! Working on Carter Road next!
Florida trails rock! Nice way to end the day with a fire.
Thanks mate! Was definitely blown away by what Florida had to offer!! My trip took me to carter road next and it was such a wild trail system!
You should head back alot of updates and if you didnt ride it yet lost meadow is a sick flow track there.
Gonna definitely have to make another Florida road trip once the weather turns icy ❄️! I’ve heard lost meadows was sick
Great job showcasing the trail system I try to ride weekly.
Thanks mate! Can’t wait to come back and bring some friends to shred!
That 4 ft blind drop after the turn though... Nice job with the video and riding progression.
Kaw kaw!!!
I so wish you were with me for that one lol thanks bud!!
Ahhh man your luckey👌🏽Hope you enjoyed your trip. Can't wait to try it some time🤙🏽🤙🏽
I can’t wait to get back down there and have more time to really check everything out!
Ayyyy
Great videos! I definitely need to get out for some new trails.
Traveling is what keeps mountain biking fresh for me! I highly suggest it
Nice one bud. Amazing How tough the climbing can in Florida. Keep it up!
For sure
Always pedaling and never know what is around each corner lol
Nice ride, yes we love Alafia, but it has been awhile since we visited this reminds me it is time to get back.
Watching the footage and making the edit made me wanna plan another trip before it gets too hot 🥵
Nice work hitting that slow drop on graviton.
Thanks mate! Some of those had me worried because of the slow speed required! Glad I survived lol
Nice!
Went to Santos a couple years ago on a family vacation. Wanted to go to Alafia but didnt get to go. Eventually, I'll get back down that way hopefully!
I have hit Santos a few times but this was my first trip to Alafia ... safe to say it won’t be the last!
Heck ya man, send it all year long
Doing my best dude!
next time to florida im gonna try to be on alafia to ride with you😂, as others say gatorsback its a fun one to ride. RollerCoaster its my favorite. And also, the double-black diamond means that those trails are the most hard on the park, the black its for the most savage trails, blue for the ones like gwazi berm and others with some drops and greens the easy ones.
Have to go back and ride some of the stuff I skipped last time!
@@MtbFrequentFlyer yeah for sure, i just go to ride today and it says that they got one new trail but i don’t remember the name. It is very cool on the weekends, there are a lot o people
One of my favorite trails in Florida
I will be back for sure!!
Sweet!
Glad you enjoyed mate!
I hope you rode gator back as well. There’s a nice double drop. Also if you want a challenge ride there on a single speed dirt jumper. It’s quite fun!
Dang sounds like you enjoy torture 😳
Enjoying your videos and watching your skill progression. Come join TMBA in Tallahassee FL sometime. We have several trail systems for a variety of riders including rooty technical, drops and jumps, etc. good local beer and welcoming TMBA members.
What is the best spot for good jumps and features/drops? I would love to check out a new trail system if it is worth the drive!
Nice work man! Loved this one. Sad we barely missed each other, I wish we could have connected this trip.
For sure ! Would of been sick no doubt bud
Finally
Lol took a couple weeks off but I’m back baby!
Nothing like sticking a drop right after an up side turn where there is no speed. That place looks pretty sweet though!!
Lol was sketchy but fun for sure!!
I hit Alafia and "The Gwazi Berm three weeks ago. I was nervous about it at first, had to screw up a bit of courage. It took about nine runs on it before I was really comfortable. It's pretty fun and Alafia in general is worth it. I do blues mostly. I'm 64.
Nice job smashing the gwazi!
Keep on shredding!
Glad to know that no matter your age u can still do anything 😊
Good
Thanks bud!
I’ll be at Santos tomorrow if you will still be in Florida! Never been to Santos yet looking forward to checking it out
I would love to show ya around as Santos is somewhere I am familiar with but I made my way back to North Carolina yesterday !
Met you today at Kanuga. Should have exchanged contacts for you next trip to Alafia
Are you using an external mic? Your audio sounds really good!
Thanks! I do use an external mic for my main camera and my go pro I use a wind screen cover to get that good tire on dirt sound!
Haven't seen a video about this place in a while
I am gonna keep the Sunshine vibes rolling next week with a Carter Road edit! Super unique trails with some features that made me say "Hell No!" more times than I could count lol!
Ok so basically I just got my like a legit mtb and I pretty much know how to do every thing except those walls wher your riding almost side ways any advice how to do those btw I’m a tween
What was your favorite trail in FL while you were there?
Do you wear a mic or is that the camera mic? Crisspy !
I do have a wireless lav mic but I sometimes just stick with the GoPro 9
@@MtbFrequentFlyer Nice! love some Quality audio !
9:06 did you drop in from up there? That speed helps
Could send it way further if I would of known about that
What campground did you stay at? Would you recommend it?
I can’t quite remember but it was right on the water about a 25 minute drive to Alafia
Just curious, where did you camp? Right there at Alafia?
That was the original plan... but MLK weekend filled up fast so I ended up staying about 30 minutes towards the coast and found a nice camping spot right off the river!
@@MtbFrequentFlyer Yeah I was going to say it didn’t look like the park. Reservations in any state park in Florida can be hard to get get in the winter, especially in a holiday weekend. Even without a holiday, if you want a spot on a winter weekend you’ve got to book it months in advance. Summertime it’s hot as the surface of the sun and bookings are wide open lol
Next time you come by the way, make sure you check out the new work they’ve put in on “Lost Meadow”, it’s a nice flow trail you’d like 🤘
3:10-3:26 is me, i did create a channel
jk, that is my best friend, he can't create a channel so i did
What kind of bike you riding in this vid?
Its a 2019 giant reign advance 1
I did a bike check video on it about a year ago when I first got it!
@@MtbFrequentFlyer thanks man, I just subbed, I actually live about 40 from alafia and plan on taking a trip soon to check it out. I have a higher end walmart bike but plan on upgrading soon. Only gonna stick to the beginner trails. Don't think mine can hold up to anything more advanced.
@@morecrapforputdowns My buddy bought a "walmart" bike for about 350 a few years back and it served him well to get into the sport! Also taught him how to work on his bike since it did break down a few times since he was pushing it on advance trails and riding hard!
Good luck to ya at Alafia! Super fun trails and Carter Road is not far... that is where I headed next on my florida trip!
Have you been to Graham?
I haven’t but I’ve heard it’s where I need to go next! What are the trails/jumps like?
@@MtbFrequentFlyer if a road bike can survive. I’m pretty sure you’ll do well. 😁 . It’s a nice trail though.
First.
Caught your winter mtb edit! Some of those spots looked familiar 👌
