I decided not to put the list up on the screen in the end! You can check my Ko-Fi page here for more details on the membership: ko-fi.com/henryturnerphotography I didn't want to include any of the membership benefits in this video as I want to keep the tiers relatively simple for now. I was also hoping for some input from yous lot! If you jump over to Ko-Fi, give me some ideas on what you would like to see a little more of. Thanks so much 🙏
Location through to post processing would help. Don’t like using the word critique, but perhaps come simple constructive feedback on the higher tier - Random selection of the pics submitted each month?
Dont ever feel bad to be charging money! I am a small buisness too and if we want to keep doing what we love and give our services to help people we need to charge. Good luck with it all 💪
Every influencer seems to tip toe around charging for their content, or making money through sponsorships, etc. There isn’t anything wrong with that. You obviously love what you do and are great at it. There’s nothing wrong with making money for the work you are doing and a lot of it. It’s a business. I think this will be great for you!
I've seen many UA-cam channels do similar videos about memberships, but in a much.....less...kind way. You are really humble about even the sponsor of the video and I greatly appreciate that you have perspective and gratitude! It really makes me happy to watch! Don't lose sight of that!
Fabulous! I've signed up :D You put so much effort into your videos, sharing so much amazing information, and helping us all to be better photographers. I'm only happy that I can now show my appreciation in a more structured way :) Best of luck with it Henry!
Signed up , there are many photographers I follow, and get some useful information from , but without coming over all gushy , i really enjoy your content , because you're so humble , no airs and graces and snobbery like a few I could mention , but just this is me , Henry , i take great photos and have great walks , come with me .... the format works , it's appealing , it's a No brainer to choose to support you , every labourer is worth his hire the good book says . Keep doing what you're doing 👍.
A man or woman is worth their wage. Never feel bad about taking care of yourself. What you do isn’t easy, I know, I try… The way you are doing it is great. You keep up the UA-cam but add a little extra for people that want to help out. Good on ya for making this a living!
Good luck with your new adventure. I've been following you since your Nikon D7200 days as that's the camera I owned at the time. I've now joined the Sony team. But still love watching your videos, no one can beat your enthusiasm and honesty which is a big reason why your Chanel is so popular 😊 out!
Jackery units (and to be fair, other brands as well) are very popular in amateur astronomy. They're used to power laptops, telescope mounts, dew heaters, etc. In particular astrophotographers use them, since most astronomy takes place in remote areas.
You're right to be scared about being based on UA-cam. One mistake or misguided campaign from trolls or bots and you can be deleted. You'd think there'd be better protections for things like that by now. Online businesses are basically an equivalent for real estate space, and nobody can come along and just close you down or kick you off your own property. Something really needs to be done but the trend is towards tighter and more arbitrary control over the little guy.
Henry, first and foremost, you need not apologize for diversifying and trying to make money. Secondly, I appreciate the videos that you do and I get very inspired by them.
I really like the idea of the Jackery battery. I think that would get me out doing some camping in summer. I like the idea of you having a membership as well and I will consider it's a good idea mate. You put a lot of work into it and I've seen your channel grow from the early days when I first subscribed.
Henry when you say just the OM5 like it's secondary. It's you matey that sees the picture and how you want to create it. A camera, any camera just records and captures the light colour, shadows and composition, you want it to. Don't need to play that lovely little camera down 👍 your the one that creates awesome photos. I'm a Pentax user, since film lol, people say who? Ha ha it doesn't matter as I love what I create with it ha ha Top chanel 👍
We've all got to earn a living mate. We'd all love to do what you do, I dare say. So you do whatever you need to do to make it work. I applaude you. I've got an actual paying gig next week, so I'm buzzing. 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Henry! Great to see your fotovan is doing well, and exciting to hear about more van trips coming up. I’ll be traveling around Scotland in my self-built fotovan for six weeks from the end of September through October, focusing on photography and vlogging for my yt. It would be fantastic to meet up and maybe collaborate on a video! What do you think?
Very best of luck with the new community ! enjoy France and if you make it to Paris and the Eiffel Tower be aware of where you go down on bended Knee to ty your shoelaces !💍😣
Never be ashamed to ask to be paid for what you do. Especially when you do it so well! I have noticed this creeping over UA-cam however - I think the bubble has burst and people are not going to be able to rely on UA-cam income for too much longer, saturation has arrived and sponsors won't pay enough to make a living. Even my favourite Mentour Pilot who has 2m followers is doing the same with memberships.
It seems like a great idea, the membership! Just sadly, right now doesn't seem the right time financially for me to be paying for a membership, because sadly there is plenty that has to be paid for already. But hopefully in the future I will join as well! I'm sure that many people will join!
Have deliberately waited to see others responses to this video Henry. I could imagine you were a bit apprehensive of what replies you might get. Financially for me its something i would have to hold off for at present time but i am sure it will be successful as you have a great following although the number of comments here to date may indicate a lot of people in deep thought about it. Will always support with your calendar and no doubt another print at some stage. Good luck with it and keep the videos comming.
Sweet power supply. The ones in the 90's for astronomical equipment felt like the equivalent of a small twelve volt battery lol. Horrible to carry into a field. I think you have a very good idea Henry. As people, we all have individual questions or ideas that we like to bounce off someone first. Also as someone who flies kites, I've taken to wearing light ear muffs on some days. With the wind behind you in New England, your ears can take a beating. Have a Great Trip!
Why use an external website for memberships when UA-cam already offers a membership feature (along with a wealth of other tools) directly on the platform? I understand the desire to build a community and diversify income streams, but UA-cam's membership perks are comprehensive. Members-only benefits can include custom channel badges, community posts, emojis, early access to videos, exclusive live chat, members-only live streams, shorts, and videos. On Ko-fi, you're offering "Behind the Scenes Photos/Videos", "Q&A Videos", and "1 exclusive video every month"-all of which could easily be included in UA-cam memberships. Is the only reason for this decision to grow a community off the platform? Perhaps even to take advantage of the 25% difference in revenue share (UA-cam takes 30% from memberships, while Ko-fi takes 5% and no fee for Gold creators)?
Taking nothing away from your content which is pretty good but I had to put fingers on the keyboard on this subject, for one moment I thought you was going to say you have bought a 60 thousand pound camper van but thank the lord you have not! our roads and limited free parking spaces are full of these one person vans! Money is tight for everyone at the mo and even more for me having just been robbed by the government again, so sorry I shall not be a paying subscriber but I will carry on watching your channel. Thank you...
I'm sorry. I do not become a member. the reason is simple. there are so many great channels that I follow and would like to support, but it would be expensive if I joined them all as a member. I hope you understand what I mean...but I was thinking of ordering a calendar.

Hello Henry, thank you for the update. When I saw the thumbnail of the Blue Jay, I will admit I was concerned, the van is part of the community.
He... he didn't say 'out!' Henry, are you OK?
😧
No “out” and no sheep cameos. What is going on in the world
😂
Have deliberately waited to see others responses to this video Henry.

Gotta make money to pay the bills. Good luck with with it
Happy Haircut Henry. lol. It's top drawer! 😊

😂 hi Henry, hope you're well. Missed out on some of your latest trips, will have to catch up. Am not a technical person. Take care. Janet
Those ropes in the roof edges of the Blue Jay have stretched a lot more than I'd expected! As for wind: worst ever weather 'feature' 😞
How much did you win for the haircut Henry :)
I stopped my 3+Year YT Perks and swithced to Ko-Fi for you. Hope that helps.

I am really happy for you that you do this. but This Is Not My Thing. I'm glad that you like it but I don't. and I hope you will understand that.

No memberships for me, be careful with that direction
